I'm glad children are being taught a valuable lesson of how worthless privacy and freedom are compared to profit and corporate domination.

You would like almost the entire record industry to fk off? Or you'd just like to stop them from associating?

HAHAHAHAHA, this lady was caught to the == of shoplifting and being caught by a private security guard. She is screwed. Her only hope is to play stupid, beg forgivness and agree to let the RIAA throughly erase her harddrive ( I am thinking scrap metal magnet crane method) and melt her CD collections.
I guess if anything, this is teaching people not to be niave and blindly click yes on the EULA. Never know, someone could slip in that you agree to transfer ownership of your soul.

There's prolly something in the UELA saying " Sharman networks is cannot be held responsible for illegal activities conducted with this software.... bla bla... this software is not intended for illegal practices and stuff like that.... etc etc... <insert more long drivel about legal stuff that no one reads but accepts to when clicking the yes button>"
So, the "I pay so it's legal"-stuff won't hold up in court. That's where the EULA comes in.
RIAA should learn that witch hunting doesn't up their recordsales.

There are one of two things this is going to do when eventually one of the people they sew has the money to go to the supreame court (with so many their bound to hit a lawyer).
A) RIAA will win and people will be scared into submission, BUT record sales still will not increase because its crap thats hurting sales overall.
B) RIAA will be found of guilty of spying on people. Yet I feel this is unlikley since they use the evidence they get for sopeans by see what you share online.

Ah I get it, when people say EULA they mean disclaimers. I don't see what the soul transfership thing is about though.

They use P2P services to find people who share music, get their IP and subpoena their ISP for personal details. Then unpack the lawyers.

EULA: Electronic User Level Agreement... so the disclaimers, yes.
Technically, you can put anything in this EULA you want, as long as it's in line with the law. Say, " by accepting this EULA we have the right to do anything with your soul we wish" or more recent, by Microsoft with Messenger " MS holds the right to upgrade this software at any time and ask a fee for it" (or something along those lines). If somone accepts this the company that wrote the EULA can do whatever is put into it. Be it transferring someones soul (if that is legal) or holding the right to transfer a sum of money each month. The point is that you allowed them to do so.
I have the feeling that companies make those EULA's so lenghty so they can slip in something like Microsoft did with messenger.

Moral ownership of intellectual property stays with the artists responsible for the product. Legal ownership is another matter, and can generally be ignored for ranting purposes.

Much as I'm sure that the judiciary are a tool of the bourgeoisie, I very much doubt any of those more outrageous EULA's would hold up in (most) court(s).

interesting defence: "it wasn't me, and I cannot prove who downloaded it since numerous people use this computer" sounds like the people in the UK who get off paying speeding fines because the police don't know who is in the car.
