With all this fiasco (albeit slighty old now) about alliance members going into vacation mode, I started to wonder if a charge for going into it could be implemented - and everyone else's views.

With the fact that we have to pay to exile (and continue playing the game) our planets and its extortionate cost, it seems unfair that those people who wish to stagnate the game by reducing targets and the number of fleets moving can do it for free and can simply come out of the mode with a few days left in a round.

I say, make it a cost to go into vacation mode, and a high one at that, and base it on the time you will remain in it.

I haven't thought of the consequences of this idea, as I simply can't cover them all, so thats your job

If so many players are going into vacation mode to avoid being attacked then that's a sure sign that the round is over (at least in terms of competitiveness). Whether or not the winners (whiners) are allowed to smash their last few opponents doesn't change that. Players going into vacation mode is a symptom of stagnation--not the cause of it.

If vacation mode is too expensive then people won't use it. Instead, they'll delete their planets or deliberately cheat to get them closed or just leave for good. You can't force people to play what they consider to be a losing hand.

That said, there should be a reasonable limit on vacation mode (3 weeks?) and vacation mode should be disabled the last week of the round.

And while in vac mode, all reorses u would earn are donated to the gal fund, and your flet is deleeted if you just reactivate for 1 tic then go in for another 3 wks

People in vacation mode currently don't gain resources. If it would all be donated to the galaxy fund it would be alot more attractive to go into vacation mode.

a countdown timer of, say, 12 hours would mean people couldn't just pop in and out of vac mode.

alternativly, which i thought was the case, don't let people vac when they've got fleets out
