Shuffling of galaxies
How are we going to get new galmates and when? Will it be a shuffle once the ticks have started?
Why is the universe being filled up so randomly?
Thanks!

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
here's the real questions, will the buddy blocks be shuffled, or whole gals?
That will cause some problems I believe

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
You'll get new gal mates when they signup
The universe is being filled up randomly deliberatley to prevent people who try and get entire clusters together by all signing up simultaneously.
At present we are unlikley to shuffle the galaxies, as there should be no need. We are also keeping a close eye on the number of signups in order to prevent the problems we had during beta with the compressed size of the universe.

I'd rather everything get shuffled. We should take a vote

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
as A2 a shuffle is very unlikely - there might be some merging of half filled gals if it seems neccessary. With the current rate of signups nothing should be needed though. So people shoudl go and make friends with their galm8s

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
Bah, there's only one other person in my gal who is paid. I'd rather you shuffle so the number of paid accounts get evened out. They dont even see incoming now. I'll see if I can change galaxies...

Bah. I have only a freebie as my galmate, and he voted himself GC even though we both have one vote. I'd like a merge/shuffle/

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
If you have free planets in your gal then you can either exile yourself (preferences page), persuede them to be active and pay, or live with it. The script that places planets has no idea about which planets will / won't upgrade themselves, as planets are upgraded after their location is decided.
At the moment there are no plans for a shuffle, and if there were to be one it would be unlikely to discriminate between paid and free planets.
Free planets that have been idle for more than 14 days will be automatically deleted.

I think 14 days is way too long (even if it really is automated); especially for planets that log in only once (or never). :/

Agreed. 5 days is acceptable. Still too long but acceptable.

I hope you're atleast going to shuffle the gals that aren't full? (personally I'd like to see a full shuffle, but that's just due to my shitty luck, as usual )

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
Will there be some sort of merge with gals that are not full up before tick start?

14 days is a 25% of the projected round length.

Yes, there will be a merger of gals if needed (which means lots of empty spots).

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
Well, I wont be paying unless there is at least a merger. I dont see why I should pay to be in a gal which so far only has my 2 buddies in it with a cluster with only one full galaxy.
It should be a reshuffle though. Those who lucked out to get full gals early and busy clusters have had all this time to get themselves set up already which doesnt seem fair to me either.

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
This is true, some gals had plenty of time to meet their gal mates since they filled up, but other gals have only a person or two so they wont meet anyone till almost the round starts.
As far as the equal chances as far as how many paid ppl you get in a gal - I dont go to casinos, I dont gamble w/ my money there either. I thought the point of paying was so that we could gaurantee the quality of gameplay. For things to be "fair", it shouldnt be left to luck who you have in your gal, or how soon you meet your gal mates. Everyone should get shuffled into galaxies with equal number of paid and unpaid accounts.
As far as the argument that then people wont pay until after the shuffle in order to increase the number of paid ppl in their gals, just tell them that if they dont pay before the shuffle then they cant pay for the first week of gameplay.

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
Having an "equal chance" of getting a good or bad gal doesn't mean the game is somehow fair or equitable.
For somebody who paid good money to play this game it is reasonable for them to expect a fair system where the starting line is as equal as possible for them and everyone else. Having the same likelihood of getting screwed from the start is not fair - you can never argue that it is fair - and you shouldn't have responded in the way you did.
The gals should be as balanced as possible from the start - everyone can buy a credit mid-game, but from the start the gals should all be the same size and the unpaid accounts should be as evenly distributed as possible. The people in control of this game should excersize their control as much as they possibly can to create an equitable starting line for each paid player.

This is excactly what i mean. The start positions should be made as fair and equal as possible. Now we have gals with 10 active and paid accounts, and we have gals with 3 or fewer paid accounts. It's not fair..

You are of course sir correct. However, i think you would agree that even in life we have the ability to take someone out of the gene pool. Like for example the countless planets without a single initated roid.
Should at least take those out and fill up the gaps where possible.

Re: Shuffling of galaxies
i agree with the unbalanced gals, but hey, now it will be more fun. go get your alliance and bash the gals that had full paid planets. At least then, they will be more pissed than you, because like you are thinking now, they thought they had the upper hand, and they really don't.
