Treasure Hunters

Maybe a nice idea for a new scan: the treasure scan.
The idea is: For a large amound of res and a high tech level u can scan for golden roids or legendary ships. The scan could cost 10k of each resource and has a 0.1% chance of succeeding per amp. We are all familliar with the golden roids, however, the legendary ships will give a new depth to the game. For example: a battleship that fires on all classes of ship or a fighter with 100 armor. Each cluster could even have its own legendary race.

This will ushur is a new type of player, "the treasure hunters". These players will need a large amount of amps to make a succesfull scan so people who have a "legendary fleet" will not be able to have a lot of distotions making them easy to scan.

i like the idea of treasures but not in the shape of legendary ships as you propose... what will you do with 1 BS targetting everything ?
If discovering a legendary ships gave you a boost in technology or an increase in some stats for a given ship class it would be more interesting.

also, 0.1% per amp is also too low; scan planets with ~200 amps would be able to scan for these legendary ships with a ~20% success rate; 30k * 5 = 150k resources for an uber-awesome battleship means that its almost cost effective enough to scan whore in order to get these legendary battleships, as they cost the same as terran ones anyway.

I'd be happy with the golden roids, that is a fantastic idea. But like usual, i am skeptical of the usefulness or balance of playing with ships and their stats.

On second hand, scanning for golden roids might be a good idea, but legendary ships etc etc might be better if it happened random.

ok, how about this:
20% chance to get a military spy
0.8%*number of amps to get a Fi with 100 armor
0.7%*number of amps to get an emp Co with init 0
0.6%*number of amps to get a steal Fr with init 6
0.5%*number of amps to get a De with 200 dam and roid stealing
0.4%*number of amps to get a Cr that steals legendary ships (Fi first, then Co etc.)
0.3%*number of amps to get a cloaked BS
0.02%*number of ams to get a golden roid

If it was based on the number of scans you did anyway (i.e. the regular pstunjfa) then possibly. But there really is no point in adding in a FURTHER scan because nobody would bother researching that far just on the offchance that they could get one better ship.

P.S. 0.8%*number of amps to get a Fi with 100 armor

120% chance to get a FI with 100 armor? And lets face it - 10000 of each resources would buy a much better ship than a FI with increased armor.

Just go Zik...odds say you may end up stealing one of the "Legendary Ships" That could be a scary thing to go against in some situations.
