Radeon 9600 or a 9800 are ace. I have the 9800 Pro and its ace while the XT is a waste of money.

The BEST one is the 9800XT.

The absolute fastest card is the nVidia GeForceFX 5950 Ultra, or so I thought after reading benchmarks which may have lied, as Toms Hardware seems to indicate that the 9800XT does nudge it out.

Overall currently I have to say the ATI Radeon R9800XT is fastest.

However, OpenGL and DX8 gaming, the FX5950Ultra wins out, but its poor at DX9 shading tasks.

but R9800XT is where you want to put your money though since its becoming apparent future games may be heavily focussed on DX9 shading.

How desperate are you in wanting a card though? A few days *I think* ATI and NV will be releasing official details on their next-gen GFX cards, and in a few months they should hit the shops.
