I suppose they have to try. Fortunately freedom generally prevails.
One of my housemates (SbOlly) works for Sony and has similar stories on Sony's guide to how games _have_ to reference their Memory Cards, etc in-game.

Google seems to be a tad more intelligent than Adobe.

Re: Photoshoppery
NEVER modify a mark, for example, through hyphenation, combination or abbreviation, such as: Googliscious, Googlyoogly, GaGooglemania

Google isn't saying that you should be using "Conducting a Google(tm) search" instead of "Googling".

Read the damn link. "Use the trademark ONLY as an adjective, NEVER as a noun or verb, and NEVER in the plural or possessive form." They even sued some guy for using the verb, or something like that.
Edit: I mean sent a cease and desist, of course. don't remember the details

Re: Photoshoppery
I despise this type of thing but to be fair to these companies if they don't defend their trademarks they lose their value don't they?

Re: Photoshoppery
Madness
If I went by Microsofts recommendations my MCP logo dominates the rest of my company signature - unsurprisingly. Unless I follow their recommendations (ie the logo must be smaller than my name, company logo etc..) in which case the font size needs to be about 30pt.
