GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
I just booked tickets for the GD Meet.
Arrive in London Friday 13th May at 13:00.
Leave London Friday 15th May at 17:45.
Hurrah!
The next hurdle in my organisation is accommodation. Some people mentioned sharing a room(s) to get a discounted price.
Who is still up for doing that...? And who fancies sorting it out?

Re: GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
may i recommend, for those who live on the edge http://london.ratestogo.com/.
wait a few weeks then book.
the trick is knowing that:
a) there is no shortage of hotels in london
b) the weekend 13th may to 15th may is not 'high season'
its just a recommendation, pick all suburbs because they're all central enough and have tube access or are £4 away by taxi. for people unused to lodon, when you use the site, have the tube map in another window.
the 'west end' is to draw a square tottenham court road down to charing cross and left to about green park then up to bond street then back accross. and zone one represents a walkable distance or a cheap cab ride.

Sorry, you need 11 green blobs to attend.
And I don't mean fake ones.
To clarify, you must have a repuation beyond repute.
Sorry.

This GD Meet (number) threads are not far off to match the number of Emmanuelle movies released.

Re: GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
I'm more wondering who would be staying in a hostel, and who isn't...
So we can get an idea of numbers and see if we can share to get discounted prices.
So we have:
Me
Stew
Ste
Ragnarak
needing a hostel so far, right?

Re: GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
Yeh a hostel - sounds good to me. We can book it a week in advance and probably be ok... I can't come down til the saturday though, but i can stay til the monday.
I'll share with anyone i guess...
Although Tomkat must wear the thong
If it's a 6/8-bed room then we're looking for a few more...

Re: GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
Can someone take a map of London and draw a big red circle around where the meet's going to be?
Otherwise, I'll rely on TomKat booking the hostel and I'll just get there... sometime that day... hopefully...

Re: GD Meet V - The Hunt for the Bed
has Yahwe told us where the meet will be?
The hostel I recommended is: http://www.globetrotterinns.com/find.html so have a look at the tube map to check how to get there. It's opposite a tube station so should be easy enough to find.

Stamford Brook seems like missions away from central London.
Plus that District line ain't very fast.

my parents do live in london, but kingston is just a bit too "far out" for the purposes of drunken debauchery.

well, I dunno where Yahwe is planning everything but i think he said West London. Hammersmith is west london...
You can go most of the way on the piccidilly line if you need to from central london...
It took me an hour to go from Eastcote (which is pretty much end of the line) to Leicester square. and only about 10 mins from Barons court to Embankment.
It shouldn't be too bad.

Ste, I know the whole of London. But an hour on the tube, especially on your own, is really boring and long.
And are you having a laugh about 10mins from Barons Court to Embankment? Not on the District Line, no!

It was for me... (ok maybe 15 minutes) and yeh, an hour is a long time. But that's how long it took me to go all the way to Eastcote. I reckon 30 mins from leicester square would be a good estimate to get to stamford brook.
We wouldn't be on our own anyway. There would be quite a few of us in the hostel...

By the way I was only joking about the not doing the hostel thing.
And TK, I think Ragnarak is scared of meeting most of those who are coming, because his "bang in the middle" of exams doesn't fully hold.
