Exile/Self Exile Costs

OK I think there should be 2 different costs for exiling.

if you join a buddy grp at start, it should cost like 10X more to self exile or exile, then if you went random.

If you joined a buddy grp at start then you made a commitment to try to make things work where ever you land.
To bail on that commitment & go galaxy shopping should be an expensive prospect & a tough decision to make.

agreed. Especially with the BP size of 5 for the coming round. With 5 in a galaxy you really have no excuses of not tryint to make it work.

I think, depending on the extra cost, this could be a nice middle ground between allowing buddy packs to self exile and disabling that ability.

I suppose you could do it the other way too, rather than having a high cost for exiling out of a buddypack, you could put some kind of charge on joining one and then no option of being able to exile, that way people would certainly think about it more before even think about going through with joining a bp.

The whole point of having the buddy pack system is so a small group of mates are certain to land in the same galaxy, whilst for all other purposes still being a random round and thus avoiding all the problems of private galaxies (blocking et al). By discouraging small-group participation, whether that is by making it less viable for players to join a pack or otherwise, it may have a detrimental impact on the number of people who play the game. ie, in order to play with your mates, you have to suffer a penalty - which other people dont suffer and thus get a 'head start', and thus making it more difficult to participate, some people may just think that the game isnt being friendly to small groups of players and thus not play (nor pay).

So, for that reason, i hesitate in saying yes to making a charge to joing a BP. Though i do understand where you are coming from - the benefits from playing together should outweigh the initial cost, but why start from behind?
