Anatomy for beginners
Is anyone watching that program? (Brits only I'm afraid)
I'm surprised at just how disturbing it is, and I'm wondering what happens to the bodies after they've 'dismantled' them...
It is quite fascinating, watch it.

Its brilliant.
Not only is it very interesting, but it has sent Christian mothers up the wall in complaints. A bonus point!

How true, if only more programs were dedicated to being informative and educating the masses, not showing d-list 'celebs' stuck in a house for 2 weeks showing off their idiocy...
However i recommend you dont eat and watch the programme...

Re: Anatomy for beginners
I haven't found it disturing at all.
Although I did squirm a bit when they took the skin of the guy last night. His testicles hanging down all unprotected...
Not taught me much I didn't already know, but really good nonetheless.

Re: Anatomy for beginners
My sister's doing medicine at UCL at the moment (1st year).
They get their own body for the entire year. I was always under the impression they'd get out a limb or something, that was relevant to that lesson (say, an arm when doing muscles or something). So they have the same person with them to cut up and dissect the whole time.
The idea of that repulses me.

It's the easiest way, especially given it gets you used to working with cadavers.

the peeled body was kind of gross
it reminded me so much of bits of meat i might cook with and i had really strange dreams after watching it

I'm glad I don't watch much TV. Let alone British TV.

Re: Anatomy for beginners
It's really good i think.
We work with cadavers at uni a fair bit so i haven't really learnt anything from it as such, but it's more about informing people with no background in these things.
The bodywork's exhibition in london a couple of years ago was also very informative. I think the guy should be praised.
Gunther's hat is the stuff of legends btw.

I think it is intended more as basic education than hard science.
Why are christian mothers complaining Zar?

How should I see this?
" Mary, meet Bill... he'll be your body for the coming semester. He isn't very talkative, but what would you expect from a dead man. ho ho ho. We'll keep him in the deep freeze for you, if you need anything off him just get your ice axe handy and you can pick it off."

surely it could be a basic education from anatomical drawings.
watching i couldn't help but feel that the points were so basic that,
a) there's no need for the dissection.
b) there's no need fo the nude models
when i do a murder or a manslaughter trial and there are photographs of an autopsy counsel and the judge get together to decide how we can make sure that the jury don't see them. anatomical drawings is usually the way, i fear dissection on tv is unnecessarily showy.

It is way cool, not shown in Wales though so we're lucky one of our housemates has Freeview so we can get C4.
Gunther has a hat on because he has staples in his head I think.

Re: Anatomy for beginners
i saw it last night, might watch it tonight if i remember (after desperate housewives, \o/). Its probably the most disgusting thing ive ever seen in my life though, and merits watching for that reason alone.

Re: Anatomy for beginners
Did they have any health tips or anything? Or was it just "here's a spleen!" and "now here's a liver!"?
Grammatically speaking I'm pretty sure I shouldn't use the construction !"? but I don't think anyone on here would care that much, bar leshy obviously.

its just 'oh here's a liver' once they've hacked their way into the body.

Sadly, it was just like that. Especially last night.
I'm fairly sure that the guy thinks of himself as a bit of a magician. It's quite worrying on some levels.
Oh, and his croaky voice was getting right on my tits last night.
