My belkin router
is officially the strangest piece of kit i have ever seen! ok it lets you connect to it (woohoo) it lets you access the setup menu (woohoo) in this menu it says the router is connected to the internet (woohoo) but it wont let me actually do anything on the web, wont even load a page etc. etc.

I have tried it without my firewall, without the router firewall, combinations of the 2

it used to work (up until a weekish ago)

and it randomly worked yesterday

any ideas please anyone?

Re: My belkin router
Some routers require you to set your PC's network card to use a "special" IP to access the setup menu (lets say 10.0.0.1), and then return it to autoconfigure (aka. DHCP) or set it to within the internationally approved LAN ip range to get normal access. Often this second part is configured somewhere in the setup menu. A standard LAN ip is something along the lines of 192.168.0.20, for example.

Check your documentation carefully to see if this is the case - if you're trying to get outside access while your PC is still configured to use 10.0.0.1 (or whatever the special IP is) then it won't work.
