If someone believes God exists, then they have to accept that either
- he caused it
- he is incapable of intervention
- he could intervene, but chose not to
Whichever, he's not praiseworthy.
On the subject of some Muslims giving up some things but not others for Ramadan, surely this can only be a good thing. Picking and choosing the bits that suit them is progress towards rejecting the belief completely, the English church being relegated to 'traditional wedding and funeral location' being an example.
