Midweek Betting (Carling Cup 9th/10th Nov)
Following from Kura's most recent betting thread, I present my selections for the Carling Cup matches this week:
Bet 1, a treble: - Spurs - 8/11
- Chelsea - 11/10
- Fulham 5/6
- £2.00 stake returns £13.30 (profit 565%)
Bet 2, a treble: - Cardiff - 13/8
- Watford 7/4
- Burnley 11/4
- a £2.00 stake returns £54.14 (proft 2607%)
For anyone who's spotted that I've included Burnley to beat Spurs at home in Bet 2 and that I've got Spurs winning in Bet 1, the reason is I think the result could go either way, all the other 5 results I'm pretty confidant of. Also Burnley is too good a price to not go for them at 11/4 at home, but Spurs' new manager bonus could see them through. So:
Bet 3, trebles from 5: - Spurs - 8/11
- Chelsea - 11/10
- Fulham - 5/6
- Cardiff - 7/4
- Watford - 7/4
- a 10 stake returns £10.00 (profit 9900%)
(I hope I got my profit %'s right )

Re: Midweek Betting (Carling Cup 9th/10th Nov)
damn - you think Fulham are definately gonna beat us then
is pretty straight forward I guess.
Don't think Burnley will win - they really aren't a very good side.
Cardiff and Watford have both been pretty poor this season too so those matches aren't certainties either.
Newcastle against Chelsea could go either way...

Burnley have 6 or 7 first team players out injured for the match so they'll have a hard time winning. Having said that Spurs are hardly the scariest of opponents atm but i'ld still expect them to come through with no problems.

11/4 is still good enough odds to be worth the wager though

Good bet on Cardiff IMO
Pompey are down to 12 fit outfield players, although Gary O'Neil (who has been running Cardiff's recent charge up the table) has been recalled to cover our injury crisis.
It will be a pretty hostile atmosphere at Ninian Park - we 've never really got on with Cardiff

Re: Midweek Betting (Carling Cup 9th/10th Nov)
I was pretty sure Spurs would win, but there was just the tiny possiblity that Burnley could sneak it... and 11/4 at home is just too good to pass up. Cardiff losing, well, never mind, Portsmouth decided to actually turn up.

Hard luck, dunno if you will be getting GON back until our injury crisis clears up
Scum result bodes well for the weekend - hopefully we beat them on their manor and condemn them to the relegation they truly deserve.

Could of told you cardiff wouldn't win, given that Gary O'Neil their star midfielder got recalled from loan prior to the match.

Re: Midweek Betting (Carling Cup 9th/10th Nov)
He wouldn't have been playing anyway since since he was cup tied. We held out own in the first half but when Portsmouth came out and scored early in the second it was game over, heads went down and the older players gave up when they should have known better. We were shut us down on the flanks which is where we’re usually best, don’t think McAnuff had a single cross all game, without O’Neil to force things in the centre of the park we looked devoid of imagination, Kavanagh who really had to step up to the plate and show why he’s captain had another awful game, the sooner we ship him out the better. Defence looked dodgy without Williams at right back though Gabbidon had a very good game and won't of done himself any damage in front of Harry his partner in the centre, James Collins was at fault for both goals. Good atmosphere, nice to see a club come to Ninian Park and make a noise not just shut up once they hear “outside it’s a massacre” and “you’ll never make the station”. “Pompey what’s the time” got going a few times which seemed to upset the Portsmouth end as well as numerous anti Matt Taylor chants, for some reason the bell man was ejected at half time. Good night in all can’t wait for Reading away on Saturday
Lokken tell your physio to sort it out as we want O'Neil back

Touch and go, he's certainly got the skill to make it, the question is weather he's mentally tough enough, if you asked me at the before last season I'd have said defiantly but he struggled to impose himself on the First Division throughout last season and to some extent the start of this season, since the England game he’s been far better and had a number of good games but his biggest problem remains, he loses concentration too often and is rightly accused of being sloppy, perfect example against Derby a few weeks ago he was under no pressure in our own half without looking up he plays a dreadful cross field pass to Rhys Weston who has an attacker stood next to him, Rhys bless his heart loses the ball and they score, it's doing things like that which will stop him progressing to the next level all it takes is him to stop and think for a second, weather this would be cured by moving to the Premiership is a big question. The same can be said of his compatriot James Collins. There'll be uproar if we sell him and Earnshaw in the same year and the stadium still fails to get under way.

He sounds a bit like another dodgy Amoruso and casual defending is the last thing we need right now.
