bit torrent turned out to be better than dc++. I realised that part of my problem with BT was port forwarding and that was the reason i was getting such low connection

question now:

how to view movies before they are downloaded to check legitimacy. I hate downloading movies with foreign languages dubbed over them, and shit quality movies.

VLC works for downloading movies/episodes that download in order (kazaa dc++ etc..) but BT downloads all over the place and there is nothing more annoying than downloading a non english/good quality movie.

Best bet is to check the comments of other leachers, if it's a good enough torrent supplier, otherwise do like me, and double check by playing the fragments of the file, by the time you have 60% you can usually view sections, it's just getting that first 1% at the start of the file that gives bother.

Not much but, is better than waiting around for hours on that last 5% that no one else seems to have.

I've never had anything not be what i expected it to be and that even counts for stuff downloaded from Suprnova and other public trackers.

Well, for a start dependant on your client you can change the options to not lock the file you are downloading so it can still be read by movie players etc (which the avipreview tool that comes with kazaa lite I've found to be the best for this purpose). Also you can instruct the client to finish allocating parts that are almost completely downloaded. The main problem is in the fact that often it doesn't download the chunks in linear format rather as you said all over the place, so the movie player will probably reject it as a invalid movie format.

They never will, it's too low level. It's not like anyone on a BT has the capactiy to serve hundreds or thousands of people over a long period of time.

when i ran peerguardian whilst downloading a copy of a universal studios film i had on VHS (i wanted a copy on my hdd too) Universal studios tried to access my pc 35 times.


i suggest you download it. you can still recieve letters from the studios involved asking you to cease and desist etc.

I've not downloaded anything with bittorrent before, but the standard way to deal with stupid windows filelocking is to create a copy of the file while its being downloaded, then open the copy.
