No, Beckham went off because he is a metrosexual semi-poofter of the Stew variety who is scared of a little scrape.

I suppose it's one way to secure a move to Real Madrid.
Even if he didn't tell the his team-mates to wind-up Rooney to get him sent off his days in England are numbered. He will become the sacrificial lamb and the media will make him a figure of hate.

Whoa spot the people talking bollocks.
Beckham's got a tear in his Achilles and was sobbing on the bench while applying ice to it. Somehow I don't think that he'd have gone off the pitch if he could have realistically stayed on.

Carragher had the best record in practice penalties of anyone not on the field or off injured.

Re: [Footbal] Conspiracy theory
the fact he has scored only 3 times in his career should probably have been weighed up against "recent penalty form vs laul robinson"

If it's 3/3 (which is highly possible), all of which came at important moments (which is true) then it's not that bad a record.

Penalties are about nerve dude. This is why the germans win them. German nerves only freeze up at -374 celsius.

Being injured or off the field is a sign of nerves?

Strange how the roles swap, I remember quite a similar situation some years ago when Beckham was sent off for bickering with Simeone who apparently winded up Becks a little. Beckham ended up being the scapegoat, right?
We're now looking into swapped roles then. Suppose it's a bit different Ronaldo being Roon's teamie more or less.

Beckham is English. Ronaldo is not.
I have found that people don't like him because he is arrogent. He is a good footballer but he is a diving cheating bastard so it's a bit different.

Diego Simeone isn't English either.
I think it was probably the wink to the bench afterwards that set this off.

He didn't play in the same country, let alone at the same team.
If the roles were revered and Ronaldo and Rooney were playing for the same Portugese team and Rooney was accused of cheating to get Ronaldo sent off in the world cup then I doubt Rooney would have much of a future left in Portugal
