Re: [Football] Prediction League - "TNG"
It's back! Matches this weekend for everyone but Deffeh and Lokken.
I've redefined "almost" and recalculated all previous results accordingly.
I looked into many scoring systems (and other people's prediction leagues) to see what worked, and the best way to solve the problem was a whole new points system where X would be 5 (to be farther apart from other lower scoring rewards). That would confuse me as much as you, so G1,X3 has been "set in stone", and I've left out some stuff I'd like to see included.
SCORING SYSTEM
Code:
1 for G (general)
2 for A (almost)
3 for X (exact)
almost is * G + home goals exact if you predicted a home win, or
* G + away goals exact if you predicted an away win
* any other draw if you predicted a draw
* G + correct goal margin
+1 for S (scorer)
+1 for T (time +/- 7)
+1 for B (bonus for both)
PREVIOUS RESULTS EDITED SLIGHTLY FOR NEW SCORING SYSTEM
No results affected, just minor adjustment in a handful of games.

I'd change that if I were you, it looks like Viduka will be suspended by FIFA by refusing to link up with Australia for their match today.

last night I dreamt the result would be 2-3. I'm not changing it though. In a Wolves prediction league, I'm on 8 points from 16 games, so I expect to take up permanent residence in the bottom 3 here shortly.
Rids, Evergreen, and Embroglio haven't predicted yet. I've sent PM reminders.

Evergreen didn't predict (though afaik he wasn't online all week) so that's easy points for MrL...

You're the first victim of the "redefined almost" rule.
Previously, it would have been a draw, but I reduced the range of results eligible for an almost point (because it was exploitable).
Basically, Blasto got an extra point because he correctly predicted Arsenal to score 2, while you said 3.

Kinda like that awful new off-side rule.

Did I predict Chelsea to score 1, where he predicted them to score 0 though? Or does that only count for the team that scores the most goals?

Re: [Football] Prediction League - "TNG"
almost is
- G + home goals exact if you predicted a home win
- G + away goals exact if you predicted an away win
- any other draw if you predicted a draw
- G + correct goal margin

Re: [Football] Prediction League - "TNG"
I just noticed someone who didn't predict managed a draw the other week, I would say if people don't predict their opponents automatically win say 2-0.

Re: [Football] Prediction League - "TNG"
it amused me that a completely wrong prediction is equal to no prediction at all
When all you have to do is get any small aspect of the prediction right to guarantee a win, you only have yourself to blame if you mess up your chance.
HOWEVER as it is possible a non-predictor can actually win a game (if the result is 0-0, and the active player predicted H/A win), I agree it would probably be fairest to have them automatically lose.
It's up to you lot...

Re: [Football] Prediction League - "TNG"
These are the next ten games. As you can see, they're a long way off (but I never know if non-predictors have forgotten or are waiting for late team news).
From now on, I'll PM non-predictors approx. 48 hours before a match.
