Mainstream radio is mostly just crap anyways, so if you do not listen to it, you dont miss out on much.

You forgot about Queen.
Although I agree that they're exploiting these girls' sexuality to sell records (whatever that sexuality may be) I don't think it's true that lesbian bands sell more records. Melissa Etheridge is the only lesbian artist I can think of that has had mainstream success. However I can think of a few homosexual males with mainstream success (Boy George, Elton John, George Michael). Tatu is successful because they're young, ****able, and have a good gimmick which is no different than any other young pop act right now.
P.S. I don't consider artists such as KD Lang and the Indigo Girls to be in the mainstream. Their bread and butter is the lesbian community.
