R22 Payments/Donations Suggestions

Just a thought that occured to me, with next round being billed as a free round (which is obviously a very good idea in the light of an increase in player base etc etc etc), why not just have the ability to make a donation instead of payment for your account?

Nothing mandatory, has no effect on your account, just because some people like myself might actually feel that the £10 a round you charge (or is it $10, or whatever it is) really doesnt effect me much and actually I quite enjoy playing this game and might want to help with its further development which is obviously going to be bettered with increased funds.

Maybe you only get 50 people, but hey its better than nothing and surely costs you nothing to implement?

Well i assume nothing stops you from buying additional credits. There is no limit on how many you can buy or own at any given time, so you could for example purchase 5 credits and give some away to other players when the following round (r23) is p2p again as a token of appreciation to the developers. Positive side of that is that you at the same time 'donate' money for development and can offer account upgrades for players or friends who ain't in the position to pay for the game, enhancing their game experience aswell

Sounds like a good idea.

But how can we be sure it gets used and not goes into jolt's pocket?

That would need to get figured out before something like this happend.

And Wandows, it sounds more easy for jolt to put it into their pockets if it comes in as credits.

Jolt is a company. Everything they don't need for the game goes into their pockets. This is the very essence of capitalism.

Maybe then make the donations strictly for advertising, which Jolt seems to be lacking in. If you set it up so that you tell Jolt 'these donations can only be used for advertising' maybe they'll get off there butts and do some.

I like the idea of buying credits and then using them to upgrade other people in future rounds.

One off investments of cash aren't what the game needs, it needs a regular profit and signs of the product and community being one that could grow to show and justify the vast expense that we the community want to see being spent by Jolt on advertising and development.

As Mzyxptlk said Jolt are a business, they bought PA not to throw money away to please us but because they saw something they could potentially make money from. We need to al just open our eyes and realise that we live in a world where money is king and rather than sit here and set them up as the 'big bad' and encouraging people to take shots at them we need to start playing our part and working with them to show that this game is a worthwhile product with a future and the community is ready, willing and able to grow so the investment wouldn't just be a complete and utter waste of money. After all as said before Jolt are a business and turning a profit is vital and if there's more profit to be gained by investment for a small risk they are unlikely to pass it up.

So if you normally buy a credit (or more than 1) each round the best thing we can do as a community is to put that money aside and for r23 then use this money to buy additional credits to upgrade others. This would especially be good if the people you upgrade with these extra credits were new players who haven't ever played PA who you attract with word of mouth in other communities you hang around in.

There's no good reason to pay for advertising. The best advertising for an online game is word of mouth, and that's something that all of us can provide for free.

More signups and credits bought are the way to make the game more successful.
