I agree with this. But I think we all agree that we would rather stick with whats working, rather than try to modify it and chance messing it up. Especially with girls.

without wanting to agree with Chika and demiGOD, listening does get you a long way with girls. Especially the nice ones. (the fit but stupid ones talk bollocks, run out of things to say, and probably couldn't care less if you were listening or not)

It's not everything, but girls really do love to talk.

HOWEVER after 2-3 weeks, and especially if you knew her before that, it's quite stupid to just listen. Then she'll think you're boring and have nothing interesting to say for yourself.

ADAPT to the situation is my advice

Yeah, I know. But you have to "coax" them into talking about themselves usually. It's not just a case of buying them some wine and letting them blabber on, as DemiGOD implied. I am a good listener (that's why I have so many female friends and get called "Gay Tom"

) but just listening is boring...!

Critical Update

Ok, so we didn't go out on Friday as planned. I did see her on Thursday though, as we were going to the same club.

We went back to hers and I left hers at about 3-4am. Nothing more than kissing (really).

I was getting a bit confused. Not to make it sound like I'm with slags, but most girls who I've been "seeing" for over 2 weeks are normally more forward than that.

She's a very nice girl, but I don't want to get into a relationship with someone who is quite cold when it comes to being cuddly and physical.

I asked my friends (RL!) what they thought, and one suggested that maybe she'd had a "bad encounter" sexually, such as being raped or something, so was a bit weird about the whole thing.

So last night I went to a club. She was supposed to be going, but texted me telling me she was too tired and didn't want to go.

The club was rubbish though, and I left early. Now Kate (the girl in question) lives quite near there, so I took a small detour and headed her way.

I phoned her and told her I was near her, "did she fancy seeing me before I went home?".

I remembered idi's advice (<3!) before I went out too - "STOP SUGGESTING YOU STAY AT HERS ETC".

We chatted for a bit, and I did ask her.

"Have you had a nasty sexual experience or anything like that?" (I obviously said it more tactfully - or so it seemed in my head)

"No.."

"Oh right, sorry. I just wondered, as you're quite shy with me"

"No, I'm ok

"

We chat about something else, then I delve a little deeper.

"Are you a virgin?"

"Yes"

"Oh, I thought you weren't... I mean, you're pretty, you're nice. I didn't expect you to be"

"When was your last relationship then?"

"Erm... when I was 18 or so probably?"

I think I then said something about it being fine she was virgin, and I wouldn't push things, yadda yadda.

So this kind of explains why she isn't that intimate.

I didn't ask her WHY she was a virgin though. I'm sure the offers have been there from guys. I know she isn't religious (she's against it), so either she's "waiting for Mr. Right", or she just is shy and loads of guys have given up when they've got to my stage, as they're just after sex and not getting it.

It isn't a "problem" that she's a virgin, however it does make things a little more complicated. At the age of 22 and a virgin means that she probably wants it to be special.

I like the way I keep emphasising I'm not after the sex, and yet this whole post is about sex.

when/if she does finally stay over, you won't have sex. I can guarantee it. Other stuff maybe, but sex no.

It all depends what you're after. If you actually want her as a girlfriend, then you'll need to be patient.

Sex isn't everything, but otherwise you're just friends that kiss.

My new dilemma (Dace and I have discussed this, but I'd like a 2nd/3rd/4th/etc opinion!).

She leaves on Saturday or Sunday next week, for 5 weeks (uni holidays). So I won't see her until April

Do I:

a) Put some real effort in now (maybe go for dinner on Friday night, as a "I'll miss you" type gesture) to just be nice and show her I am serious about us - then continue to text her now and again, and ring her a few times in the holidays.

b) Just continue as I am going at the moment, and put a bit of effort in during the holidays (ring her once a week or something).

tk that's a decision that we can't help you with.
you're the one who needs to decide if it's worth it or not. those choices really are:

A) you care about her and want to try to continue on seriously

or

B) you don't care if the relationship ends or continues. c'est la vie etc.

we can't decide if you care enough about this girl for you to make the extra effort or not, that's something you've got to figure out for yourself.
