Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/040515/325/etn3i.html
If he does get the opportunity, would it be a success?

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
His talents would be wasted on James Bond. He'd be better off writing his own script and making an original movie. And no more Kill Bill shit either.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
I stopped caring about the James Bond franchise a long time ago, but if Tarantino made a Bond film I think I'd need to check it out.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
I'm not sure... I doubt it'd go in tie with other Bond films. It'd probably be a little "culty". That's probably why he's trying Casino Royale again, as it is a different type of plot.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
He certainly couldn't do worse than the last couple attempts.
Though his films generally tend to be on the arty and stylistic side don't forget that so are a lot of the Bond films, I think it'd be right up his alley.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
the problem with the last few bond films, is that they have become far too action orientated. Bond has always been about a spy, gadgets have always been the core of the movie. Apart from the last one (which wasnt that good anyway) they've had far too much action and not enough cars and gadgets. The action is to appeal to those little ****ing kids who like nothing mroe than to see things get blown up. ****ing children ruin all franchises.

Bond recently has become more of a 'run in and blow shit up' kind of thang (look at the absurd attempt at infiltration in TWINE), however that's been a growing trend before the days of Brosnan.
The best bond films remain the Dalton ones though.

Brosnan IS a good bond, but the films are poorly made.

It's because (at the risk of sounding like an elitist twat) the average cinema goer loves all the new explosions and loop-riddled plot lines. They don't want a spy film, they want nice explosions, hot girls, and some far-fetched plot.
So the film industry provides for them...

Maybe because everyones so up Quentins ass, itd revive the bond franchise - which although has been shit - is such an easy target.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
I'd be sceptical about it since I have doubts regarding Tarantino's ability to create and display a heroic character, but it would certainly be interesting to watch.

Re: Tarantino wants to tackle James Bond
I can think of a few heroic characters...
Bruce Willis in Pulp Fiction.
Jon Travolta in Pulp Fiction.
Noone in Reservoir Dogs really though...
The white guy who was organising with Jackie (I think he was bail-type person or something) in Jackie Brown was kind of heroic...
Clarence in True Romance would be definitely regarded as a hero (Christian Slater).
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill would definitely be a "heroine", but I'd consider Bill as a hero in it also, in Kill Bill 2. Deep down, it is just a love story.
I can see where you're coming from though. There is no clear "main character" in most of his films.
