You might cap less roids, but your fleet will land normally if your fleet is already (pre)launched.

Re: what happens if...

You get the same amount of roids. Your XP gain however will be very low.

Depends on how much the target looses.

part of manual:

Roid Capture
Roid capture in Planetarion requires you to have ships capable of capturing asteroids.
You should refer to the ship stats page ( stats.pl ) to see what targets what
You can only capture 'roids if you have enough ships survive the combat which can capture them.
The maximum number of 'roids you can capture is 25% , however the actual number you capture depends on the ratio of the fleet values, if there are any other attackers, and if you are capable of capturing all of the 'roids allocated.
If there are others attacking the same planet as you at the same time then the available 'roids will be divided between ALL the fleets, by fleet value, regardless of if they have ships capable of capturing asteroids or not.
If one fleet does not have enough ships to capture the 'roids then their share of the 'roids is essentially lost. They will capture as many as they can however.
It is NOT possible to capture roids with subverted ships.

So if his value gets VERY low, compared to your fleetvalue, you might not cap 25%.

Re: what happens if...

I have yet to see less than 25% cap, and I've roided a fair few noobs this round.

True, that limit must be very low, 25% cap is about allways achieved, though once this round my target died (no roidloss, though his entire fleet was gone) and my cap lowered to 15-20%. But my fleetvalue was like 5x his planetvalue by then or so.

Re: what happens if...

I think that the fleet ratio part only aplies if there's more then 1 attacker. i.e. the person wiith 75% of the attacking fleet value would get 75% of the 25% of the roids.
since I've atacked people with no ships at all and still capped 25% (evol me heh)

Thats because roids weight very heavy in value, it's not fleetvalue anymore like in the old rounds (for the defender that is).

Re: what happens if...

But, wouldn't the effectiveness of your pods play a part too? Cathaar pods are very effective. Correct me if I'm wrong, 10 Mosquito's can capture 14 roids. Whereas the other races pods are not as effective as that, where its likely that you'd need anywhere between 3 and 5 pods to capture 1 roid. Suppose it depends on how many you bring and how quickly they get destroyed (or not in my case!).

Re: what happens if...

I suppose you mean if you land with multiple attackers at once? I believe that if your fleetvalue is 35% of the total attackfleetvalue, you get assigned 35% of the capped roids. No matter what pods you send.

If you have insufficient pods to cap those 35%, a part of your 35% of the roids remains at the target, the other attackers won't steal more roids if you have insufficient pods.
