Zik

I returned to this game a couple of rounds ago, so bare with me if I ask any 'noobish' questions.

It seems to me that Zik is a hard race play due to losing stealers upon stealing ships.

It's not so bad when you're defending as you receive a salvage bonus, but when you're attacking, and you steal ships that are of no good to you, it kinda sucks.

Any thoughts?

Re: Zik

Zik is alright. It's a race for the long haul. If you can hold onto your value, get a few decent steals in defence (for value gains in salvage), Zik can work out extremely well.

You're right though, losing a large part of your fi/co fleet by stealing a fr/de fleet (for example) can be very annoying, especially if you're in an alliance in which the plan was mass fi/co. Being the only fr/de planet in a fi/co alliance is very tough. Pick your targets carefully, hit planets of which you would like to steal: if they run, you get roids, if they stay, you get ships.

Alternatively, go light on the stealers that target the wrong classes. The stats can help out as well: last time I played Zik fi/co, they stole fi/co and killed co/fr. This meant that whenever you hit fi/co, you'd always get ships you could use, but when you hit fr/de, you wouldn't suddely end up with a bunch of ships you didn't want.

Quadruple negation, nice one.

Re: Zik

Sometimes you can't choose what you steal even when you've targetted an fi/co planet due to galaxy defence sending FR/DE.

Re: Zik

The whole thing with being zik and up/down stealing is hard to work with. So in order to compensate you either need to make better team ups to help cover the fr/de or be VERY carful on the targets you pick and dont make lands that arent good for you. Losing of of your fi/co to steal fr/de that are good ships to have isnt bad.

The other thing with being zik is you cant nessicarly attack EVERY day. After a good steal on attack usually takes a few days to rebuild those ships so defend and try and get some nice salvage.
