Seti@Home
Anyone here still run this? I actually just saw a story about it on the Discovery Channel...I had completely forgotten about the program. Apparently they have 150 'very promising' data streams atm that they are further investigating.

If I ran one, I would run the protein folding one. But I always forget.

Re: Seti@Home
I've run it continuously since I've gotten it, not that it makes all that much difference I guess. They sent around an email detailing their use of some telecope time to search the promising targets and it came up with nothing. But it seems they only got to look at 10% of the ones they have identified.

I run the Gomez peer and get paid for it. I expect its an extremely dodgy piece of software however.

Re: Seti@Home
I can recruit you and earn a dollar for myself if you want.
I had to run it for around 2 months until I got accepted though. Apparently they are looking for UK dialup users in particular, but I got accepted because I was fairly active I think.
edit: Oh, you don't earn much. I earn around $8-$9 a month on average, with my computer on for around 12 hours a day (which my computer would have been on for anyway). Presumably someone who has their computer on constantly will earn more.

I found another site that claims that it monitors your viewing habits and reports habits to companies looking to retain or gain customers.
