PA Team Update

Well, firstly, I hope you've all read Mark's message http://www.planetarion.com/news/news/read/295-jagex-purchases-planetarion.

The PA Team have been working with some of the Jagex team for the last two weeks or so, and together we will work to move Planetarion onto their servers in its current form and then, through strong bonds of communication, look to improve the game and integrate it further with Jagex. There are no doubt many questions that you all have, some of which will currently be unanswerable, but we will look to run a Creators Hour over the next couple of weeks with at least one Jagex representative, and give further updates as more decisions are made.

Round 38

Round 38 Beta testing is underway on our beta server, and you can signup at http://beta.planetarion.com. Stats are not final, and further changes are still being made, but the main changes are as follows:

1) In light of the above announcement, many of the pages have been tweaked slightly to be more informative to new players in the early ticks of the game. There is also a reintroduction of the help icon in the top right of the page, with text still being finalised.

2) An alliance points system has been introduced, to be tested as a potential new way of ranking alliances. This will not be used to judge alliance rankings this round, but by Round 40 may become the ranking for alliances. It's similar to an experience (XP) value for an alliance, and is currently allocated for attacks and defences. Alliances get more points for hitting larger alliances than smaller alliances. More information on the precise mathematics of this will be available in a forum post over the next days.

3) The wave amplifier and wave distorter constructions have changed. They are now both cheaper and cost fewer CU to construct. Distorters are now also more useful in that they sometimes detect scans being made on your planet, and give you a chance to detect the scan type and coordinates of the players trying to scan you. We hope that this may encourage a slightly more varied construction strategy, after the reduction in popularity of building distorters over previous rounds.

We also still have a Round 38 round name vote: http://pirate.planetarion.com/showthread.php?t=198783. Will having new owners make any difference to the name? You decide!

Speedgame
We are also running the usual speedgame with Round 36 code and 30 second ticks at http://speedgame.planetarion.com/signup.pl. This runs as always on 2 day cycles before a reset, to allow you to spend a couple of days playing. It starts at 18:00 GMT every other day. Why not sign up with some friends and play for a day or two? Accounts are not deleted, so you can rejoin the speedgame whenever you wish.
