Upgraded or not

I'd love to see the in-game Alliance Member page with the addition of "Upgraded Y/N" so alliance HCs can see who hasn't upgraded yet and get their members up and running faster. By making it "U" on top along with the usual score, size, contrib score, etc and have Y or N down the column it will make life a little easier at the start of the rounds.

Atleast thats the understanding i've got out of it. And that would be useful.

Yes, oftentimes the upgrade bonus is used as part of an early-round build. People rushing for CR/BS, for instance, might use it early on. There are many perfectly valid strategies that require the use of an UG bonus early on.

Also, when leading an alliance, knowing how many people haven't used their upgrade bonus can be an indicator as to how many people are still sitting on a potential value/score boost. This would give you a better idea of where your alliance stood relative to actual rankings.

If you're going to try and sound superior, at least have the substance to back it up eh?

people, also, sometimes use upgrade bonus early on to cover some incoming or because they landed unexpectedly well and want to mine those roids.

I don't have the calculations anymore, but me and someone else from CT once spent hours calculating what would be the best tick to use the upgrade bonus. We quickly decided that strategy is by far the most important reason to use your bonus.

Using it to maximize the payout instead of maximizing your strategy (although you could see payout as a strategy :P) is much less important.

We also came to the conclusion that if you leave out all strategies and such, then spending your bonus late (i classify late roughly as tick 500+) is not worth it. I would have to recalculate everything to find a good tick estimate.

If people are interested, I might find the time somewhere to redo it all. The bottom line was that spending your bonus on core extraction research (in case of choosing research) earlier insetad of later was more advantageous as the amount of resources you gained extra was bigger then the growth of your bonus. There was some break-even point.

tbh that is all relative to chosen Gorv, race and pop assignment. I could bring up 3 different scenarios where the output of saving/spending your bonus would end up way different.

79% bonus on income does a lot

It doesn't take all that long for the roid bonus to offer more than taking the resources. The trouble is that the resources offer guaranteed value, whereas the roids potentially just make you a better target.

Killeah is right though. Once you take mining bonuses into consideration then the roids do become potentially more lucrative than the guarantee of the resources even earlier.
