Am I the only one to see the flaws in this comparison because last time I checked the police could not demand to see my tesco clubcard or arrest me if I refused to get one and tescos sure as **** do not have my retina/fingerprint/cocksize on file for the purpose of checking who/where I am at any time.

Does this mean there is no difference between being placed in a jail cell without trial and choosing to sit in your flat for a few weeks playing WoW ??

The more important concern is that Loyalty Cards are voluntary.

Furthermore, if it's made clear what the information is being used for in the contract that the card has attached, if people want to exchange minor savings for a minor loss in privacy, I don't really see the problem.

heh, more loyalty card whingeing I see. I think the main reason people object to loyalty cards, is that it will batter home the realisation that they are actually rather boring, shit, and mundane, and not really worth following. I've been in Germany for 18 months now, and the only people who bark "ausweis" at me are shop assistants and government employees in the office.
