Re: quests?
Snurx you dont have to do them in order but the gift received will be received in order, IE if you build a Security Centre before a Light Factory you will not get the 15k for building a SC until after you build the Light Factory and then you will get both at once.

Re: quests?
What about people that will never build a sec centre, or a research lab? Why can't they get the rewards for the bits they will do?

Might as well try and combine this thread with the one in the Suggestions forum (if you have any):

That was my fear.
This is shit. Please fix or remove? This gives people who don't specialize a good gain.

So? Specialisation is also a gain, as you donot build all and choose to do so: Disters are unscannable, Cov-oppers will "never" be attacked, etc. Why not give people who play the game allround some reward for it? Plus it motivates new players to try out all the stuff around.

Specialization is a gain, but also a huge loss. Not building reslabs, seccentres or fincentres gives a major disadvantage. Distwhores almost never ends up on top, neither does cov-oppers or scanners. But, they bring enjoyment and strategic options to the game and should be encouraged, also for new players.
What about making quests for unpaid planets only? Or at least make them non-linear. You could also lower the rewards. (Or, make them more strategically sound )

Allrounding has gains, but also means the huge loss of not specialising. (Adam Smith ) Building all constructions makes that you will never have enough of them and that you will change focus now and then. Plus you will always be more a target. It also makes alliance and galaxy play necessary which means communication, this can also be seen as a cost (but also a gain )
I agree though on the fact that it may be used for unpaid planets/new players only as the veterans playing donot need these quests to succeed.
About the rewards: I think if they are used for the new group/unpaid accounts only they donot need tweaking. What remains, however, is that people will upgrade their accounts only after having incurred at least some of these rewards. So, I guess that is the reason everyone can get them (potentially, if you donot specialise )
The choice is then: offering them or not. I am a proponent as all in all it will be helpful for new players which is a more important benefit in my opinion than the cost incurred by the specialists.

Re: quests?
Do you need to finish all the "beginner" quests to be able to move on? Or are these all the quests there are?
P.S.
it's "do not" or "don't, not "donot".

I do not know whether it is all there is... I haven't finished them all, heh.

So ?
You might wanna look at it this way.
The quests are there to help out new players find their way around in the game and help them see what stuff is needed in PA.
Noone is forcing you to do the quests, if you don't want to build a sec center thats your choice, but don't scream that you don't get stuff then

lol? Or you could just accept the fact that your build choice does not complete a quest and move on with life. It is your choice, it is not a requirement. Make your choice, and live with it.

Re: quests?
Not just one quest, all quests after a certain one.

Re: quests?
After signing up I see one major irritation with quests.
For those of us, like me, who are going to be scanners. I won't be building any research labs. Hence I can not progress in the quests. Which is quite annoying. Any way to fix this so I can instead build an amp?
Same reason why I always end up paying; to avoid seeing annoying messages I can not do anything about on my overview.

Re: quests?
This was my original point regarding the return of quests. Good to see it's been ignored.

And in looking at the quests list, you will see at least 2 other times where, given a particular playing style, a quest would not be completed because of choice, as with the research lab. Quests were not designed to play to everyone of 1000 playing styles on here, just the mass majority. If you are not going to build a research center (something I have to honestly ask why you wouldn't) than that is your choice. I am going terran, and will not need to build a light factory for a long time, so should I than get the quest changed that makes me build a light factory? Heck no. Choices come with pros and cons, make your choices based upon what you want, and what you're willing to give up.
Side note: in all honesty if there is going to be this much of an issue with quests, they should just take them out. The only way to satisfy people would be to break all quests down into a non-linear format, which I'm sure is just more coding that has no time to be done. Especially as quests are (I'm assuming) going to be expanded beyond Beginner.

There should be a "quest overview" link that lists the quests; I think there's like ten or so of them, and those are all the quests there are--for now.
There's a thread on PD by Appocomaster about ideas for new quests...presumably, those would be for the intermediate and advanced ones not yet implemented.

I suppose you could have someone try to covert op your security center...
