New Cov-op

A covert operation that resets missions on pre-launched fleet. Scenario:

You have a jpg of a fleet prelaunched against you. Cov-op resets the mission to nothing.

-prelaunch must be +1 or greater
-only for attacking fleets (to prevent fleeing ships in prelaunch from being killed)
-last to be researched
-25 agents

Yeah i go to bed at 11pm with fleets prelaunched to attack, launch at 4am/3ma whatever.

Get up at 8.30am, oh look my fleets havent launched? wtf a zik launched at me at midnight?
wtf wheres my value? oh what my fleets didnt launch. Oh they have been stolen from base.

uh ho.
(sleeping times were made up for the sake of being killed but still)

I like the basic idea, but its something i dont think can be made to work without unintended side effects like Benneh pointed out.

You could perhaps change the mission type from real to fake, and vice versa for an element of added risk.
Alternatively it could randomly select a couple of ships to move out of a fleet into base. But again that can have nasty side effects

I quite like the changing a mission from real to fake idea (but not sure on vice versa).

Simialr the moving ships idea has merit - say for example twice as many ships can be moved as can be killed by the ship killing voert op - that should prevent it from being too damaging. I'd also suggest it randomly moves ships between any fleets not just fleet to base.

This cov'op has to much of an impact on the game. I dont think it will be a good addition. It will especially punish the ones less active since they have a tendancy to prelaunch.

Pretty sure that this was already discussed fairly recently already...

However, Phil's idea of swapping the status is fairly devious and clever; so long as it changed the colour on the player's Mission screen too so they would actually know to recall if they should would be a good idea. The only time it would be really nasty would be to launch a fleetcatch a tick early and then hit them with a fake mission covert op 2 or 3 seconds before the tick, thus getting them in a fleetcatch.

Wow, Benneh 9 1/2 hours of sleep?! must be nice.

Well I guess those would be unintended side effects, but they can be limited by:

-Only the attackee can do it (like Fleet analysis)
-only get one shot at it (25k lowers stealth alot)
-unlikey to succeed ( how many times have you been successful with Havoc cov-op)

Or to be especially devious...

: cov-op to change the coords of the target.....
- if not random, maybe to another coord in you gal

tbh messing with an attack fleet heading to you would be boring , but what you could do is add an hr or 2 to when it launchesso if it was pre-launch +3 u could co-op him and make it +4 or +5
