well, if IRC is down for an hour and ticks are down for an hour then that 'equals out' - as the tick had just finished when IRC went out, then anything that was meant to be done last tick can be done this tick, and no one really loses out (apart from it all being a tick later). Anyone that launched last tick will be extremely happy otherwise, as it'd be quite difficult to report incoming and organise defence this tick.

Seriously, someone get some opers that have a ****ing clue, not the lazy, incompetent and useless bunch we have now.
Okay, there's no need for that. This present 'crisis' isn't in any way representative of the network staff as a whole, and it's as frustrating for most of us as it is for the users. However, on behalf of the network I would like to apologise to PA and its players for the current situation, and assure you that it is being worked on.

I can't give you an immediate explanation because I don't have all the facts and the network will be having its own investigation into how this happened, meaning it would be inappropriate for me to comment before it is complete.

Suffice to say this is not a normal occurrence.

I havent read this but stopping the ticker is stupid and extreme. Irc is a mere compliment to the game, the fact alliances depend on it doesnt mean the game should stop because it happens to go down. I cant get onto irc at work, does this mean I get the ticks stopped?

See its just stupid, get roided, roid, do what the **** you like im sure irc will be back soon.

About 5 past Midnight British Summer Time the entire network got glined.

We're still looking into the exact causes. I have been in touch with PA Team Members on MSN.

I am fully confident that at 01:06 everyone will be fine to connect.

I apologise for this inconvenience and assure you all that steps and measures will be taken to make sure this cannot happen again.

Then please explain to me how exactly one gets an active irc oper, because in SIX YEARS of using the network and of NEEDING active opers frequently over that time I've NEVER managed it. And its not for lack of trying. The simple fact is that the network opers are NOT and have NEVER been active enough for the userbase, and that is a result of their own stupid policies for selecting opers.

cservice helpers you say ? those are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. THEY manage to be active, and you can usually get hold of one, but since they can't actually DO anything useful, thats not much help.

I mean christ, you people can't even keep your own website up to date (lol p commands lol), and the last time i checked even the P help didn't have up to date information on its own commands. So exactly how are we supposed to get any impression that doesn't mean utter lazyness and/or incompetence when you combine all the above factors !?

But wait, you mean i don't HAVE to use the network ? No, you are quite right, I don't, and i'm not far off making that a permanent decision.

Join #linux, get banned, evade the ban and Jeekay will kill you.

I've never had any trouble finding an active oper, although to be honest you are better off searching active channels like #php than #feds.

And you know whats really great, if i even ATTEMPTED to voice half my complaints of this thread on the netgamers forums, all i'd get would be closed threads and told to be quiet. and the fact you can't get opers in the own channel dedicated FOR them as easily as you can in other places is a perfect example of the problems the opers bring on themselves on this network. There is no reason to stop the ticks, we are all in the same boat, nobody gets an advantage as such anyway...

Alot of people manage without IRC, and once upon a time, IRC didn't even exist. I'm sure we can all co-exist for one hour without having IRC available to us.

what can i say i've been tainted by bad experiences. Frankly, i'm glad its annoyed you, because just maybe you'll turn that annoyance into making the mysterious (and i say mysterious, because does anyone even know what the network hierachy is ?
