I got one a couple of years ago. I've had it since, and haven't had to clean anything. It cost £20 and I've never had to do anything to it. Now that's value for money.

I've had an optical wireless for half a year now, and a wireless keyb.
It's a nice combo, I can wham my comp from my bed (say, 3 feet from it).
It works even.

I control my PC using the MindTech HeadGear 2008 OEM, which monitors brainwaves and moves the mouse/starts programs/cooks dinner BY THE POWER OF THOUGHT ALONE !!11
I only have to think 'filth' and IE starts and directs me automatically to a suitable source of high-grade porn.
Gaming is enhanced by the fact there are no muscle reactions when firing, so even more people can call me an 'aimbot using cheat whore-fag' when playing CounterStrike.

Decent ball mouse + 'performance' mouse mat > optical mouse for gaming.
I think Nod told me that once. I didn't believe him back then. Why oh why did I doubt him?

Eh, does anyone CLEAN their mouse? I just throw it away and buy a new one every month or so. God knows that's cheaper than getting an optical one, which bugs if you move it too fast anyway.
