microsoft vs google??

seems microsoft are releasing their own search engine. anybody heard anything about what its like and if its gonna actually be any good??

is this just another way for bill to keep tabs on us?

I believe this is the search engine they tried to sell and the ultimate as it searched around 4 billion pages, the day after the annoucement google went to 8 billion.

the msnbot which index's the pages is also reputated to ignore robots.txt which is meant as a way to prevent it indexing certain things which shouldnt be searchable for by search engine

i was under the impression googles actually worked properly, given that it crawled my site and didnt go where i told it not to in robots.txt

I believe their policy claim they do, but then I've heard just as many stories of it not reading the file. I'm not claiming I'm right, just that there seemed to be enough cases to possibly validate the claims.

The robots.txt on my site gets plenty of hits, so a lot of search engines are at the very least checking it.
