UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
I heard about this in the press and was directed at the website by someone. I have signed up and suggest you all do too. Its already working in the netherlands apparently..
http://www.pipelinecard.org/
Basically they are taking registrations. In around April/May time they are issuing all members with a free card which will enable you to have a 5-10p per litre reduction on the cost of fuel. They are negotiating with fuel suppliers currently.
Go sign up. I cant see anything 'dodgy' about it and at this stage you dont even have to give them your postcode or address. Just your name and an email address.
The more people who join this scheme the more powerful it will become.
I suggest you all spread the word.

Re: UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
I signed up it doesnt look like a scam, and the idea behind it is genius. Hopefully it works. Obviously once you get 5-10p discout at say Shell. Once the other petrol stations realise they are losing business they will lower there prices, at the moment theres a stupid monopoly between the petrol stations with only rarely the supermarkets pushing that monopoly. So lets hope this works

Your buying into the media's falsehoods and are playing right into our incompetant governments hands.. While the ol companies may make billions in profit this profit does not come from the petrol they sell but through their other ventures. The petrol you go and buy from your local petrol station is sold at cost with the high prices being soley down to the tax impossed to help cover up the blackhole in the Gordon Browns Budget. Its why Fuel in other countries is so much less than it is in the UK because none of these countries impose anything like the tax that we do.
You will also find that most company owned petrol stations will actually undercut anything the supermarkets can offer as the supermarkets have to purchase their petrol from one of the big Oil companies so are paying more for it than the company can supply its own stations for. The petrol stations where the prices seem higher are almost always a francise station which has various other issues which increase the cost
Anyway basically I doubt that any Oil company in the UK will signup to this, especially at 5-10p as they would end up selling their product at a loss which they simply wouldnt be able to do ubless they are sure that their shops will be able to absorbe the loss being made. If you want cheaper petrol in the UK you need to go after the government but then if you did that and they buckled you would only see the taxes passed on elsewhere so theres probally little point

Re: UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
I don't see your problem wakey.
If it turns out to be bull then I won't use it. If it turns out to be real then it's all good. The fact it's been covered extensively by The Times etc gives it some credibility imo, but should it fall flat, what precisely have I lost?

Re: UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
This scheme is already up and running in the netherlands Wakey. From what i read they are the second most expensive place to buy fuel in Europe (After britain) due to taxation. Its working there right now..

Having a life shouldn't prevent you from actually reading the thread, or do you just read the first post, then reply regardless?

Re: UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
I think everyone takes the wrong approach on this petrol price thing.
I don't want cheaper petrol, I want a car that uses half as much of the stuff!
Imagine, if th fuel economy of your car was doubled, you'd be looking at the equivalent of paying 45p per litre......
Saying that, driving at 50mph instead of 80mph really -does- make for cheaper driving.
==
See how I -steered- that back to the topic?.. Whoa, I oughta get an award myself...

Re: UK Motorists - Fuel Price Help
unsticky this it's getting annoying.
I understand the reasons why it was stickied (jj's threads are always shit and boring so if they weren't stickied they'd desend into the abyss (not a bad thing) but jj takes himself seriously- even if no one else does.)
but it's old now and stickied threads take up space.
