This isn't feasible as long as stealing is an integral part of balance.

It could be used to scrap a ship that you don't need to defend an incoming. It is long term thinking I beleive. Its a harmless idea, and it would prove benificial.

I can't see how stealing ships has anything to do with scrapping your own ships for a % of the original resources.

You've got 3 fleets out and got ships stuck at home, so you decide to destroy them... kinda lame :s

Yes, your scenario is lame. Noone said that but you.

Again, for madnrisky, who failed to use his own brain, I can't see how stealing has anything to do with salvaging your ships. Noone has yet to make a productive counter point.

If you know someone is gonna steal your ships and you cant do anything about it (ie 3 fleets out or whatever) you salvage them so you still get the resources but they dont get the ships, instead of you getting the resources and them getting the ships.

Well stealing is a point for example when a zik steals a lot of ships just to get the resources from them and build other ships with it ... but why not ... it would lead to super big Zik fleets maybe because they salvage all the small crap they dont need anyway.

But somehow i like the idea ... would give more space for different strategies -> Cath CO rush at the beginning till tick 200 whatever until it doesnt work anymore -> salvage ur fleet -> mass CR : )

My idea to this suggestion : it should take a lot of time to salvage ships ( 24 h maybe ) else you just salvage ur ships in case of incomings and make the ships you need with the resources. And it should be a high loss connected to it. (-> only 50% of the actual cost maybe) to encourage the players to keep their fleets and only salvage them in urgent cases.

Assuming this resulted in a score loss - the only reason is to avoid people killing your ships (as slavage is low) or to prevent stealing - both of which are avoiding game dynamics - declined.
