Why do men have crushes on lesbians?
I'm not referring to men being attracted to lesbians in a sexual manner. I'm aware of the causes for that. I'm talking about a heterosexual man deciding that of all the attractive and lovely women out there he sets his heart on the on the one who is not only uninterested in him, but in his whole gender. I've recently dubbed it "The Chasing-Amy Complex" and I would like an explanation.

That was an ace movie. Oh and I bet you this thread will get more views than any other currently on any of the PA forums. As to the actual question I'd guess it's something to do with the 'thrill of the chase', as it's known. Although that departs from the difficult into the impossible heh.

How can you spot lesbians? Do you have some advanced type of gaydar or something? Has it occured to you that there are attractive lesbians but since they don't look stereotypically gay you just assume they're heterosexual? Also, we're young and the likelihood of us running into out lesbians are slimmer than if we were older.

I have to assume that I'm too good for any girl that is willing to **** me. Any heterosexual girl that isn't willing to **** me is clearly a bitch with a giant stick up her ass, so she can just **** off.
Note how quickly the population of women is whittled down.
If she's dating someone, then obviously I'm not going to look to start a relationbship with her (I might have sex with her).
Then, if I'm in a relationship I can be friends with any woman (cause sex is a non issue).
If I'm single, I can be friends with ex-girlfriends and lesbians, and seeing as I know better than to fall in love with my ex-girlfriends i look over to the lesbian crowd.
Being concise:
"Men can get emtionally intimate with lesbians easier than they can become emotionally intimate with hetero chicks. Sex doesn't get in the way"

i 'spotted them' because they were within 'eachothers personal space' and look to be about to kiss ON THE LIPS (shockar), and were also holding hands'
however i live below two lesbians and ive seen 'lezzers come and go (ho ho)' and most have been horrificly ugly.
when ive ever seen them on trains theyve been 'OH DEAR GOD NO' ugly.

My theory is that lesbian women are more attractive to men because they are conceived to be 'unsullied' by other men, much the same as virgins. You want your genetic material to proliferate as much as possible, so that means maximizing female exposure to your genetic material as well as minimizing their exposure to everybody elses'.
'Getting' a lesbo would work both ways.
Plus you know that threesomes are definately an option.

I'm not talking about men hitting on women and finding out "whoops! she's a big dyke" I mean men who know very well that a woman is gay and then go on to fall for her anyways. Example: Ben Affleck character falling in love with Joey Lauren Adam's character even though he knows she likes to rub the vulva. Or in a less fictional circumstance Kevin Smith falling for the chick from Go Fish even though he knew she was a lesbian (in this case the woman remained gay, and with her girlfriend) .
And JammyJim, I guess I didn't make myself clear. I meant that you are quite possibly not picking up on the attractive lesbians because women who most men would find attractive don't "look gay" There could be be a whole sorority of pornish looking lesbians living down your street and you might not know it because they don't fall under your stereotype of gay women.

speaking as a male i havent ever had a crush on any lesbians ive known (ive known 2) im pretty sure my friends havent had any crushes on lesbians,
i think that on some basic level (in that you are a woman) you dont 'get' men. Ya see we dont have crushes on lesbians, we dont want to go out with lesbians, most of us think that lesbians should be allowed to carry on with their lives just like everyone else.
However

errrr.... There's this girl I know, and I kinda fancy her. However, some of my old mates told me that when she went/was in the army she told them she was a lesbian.
I don't know if that's true, cause she never told me. I haven't seen her for 3 years up untill recently again.
Perhaps my mates were dissin me cause I kinda had a crush on her on holiday.
This so-claimed lesbian thing happened after that holiday so I didn't really decide to have a crush on a lesbian.
