[Physics] Danger Danger High Voltage

This should be really simple but i need to make sure that i don't get it the wrong way round.

I have a sample of something and it's being heated up by passing electricity through a heating filament.

Does the amount it's heated up depend on the current or the voltage passed through the sample?

I'm fairly sure the heat produced is due to the current and resistance used.

To make the filament hotter, would i just increase the current?

I seem to have forgotten any physics i ever knew

Heat is proportional to energy is proportional to power is equal to IV=IČR=VČ/R.

leaching off of this thread, just a quick question: does anyone know how many amps a red LED requires?
