Official Planet/Ruler Name Change Feature Thread
Use this thread to ask any questions regarding the planet/ruler name feature that has been implemented on the Preferences screen. Other threads on this subject will be deleted.
The current status: The option to change your planet/ruler name is now closed.
And a short discussion revealed that this feature might give an advantage to random galaxies by hiding their randomness as this would allow them to come up with a galaxy theme. Probably.

Yeah, sure, like that will hide a lot of random gals. I see all those farmers and multies happily cooperating in a gal theme.
Even if one or two random gals would mamnge it they would be easyly found out after shuffle in C politics.
Completly useless feature for randoms but mayby not for people who discover they made typo's or other error in their planet name. So I guess I could have used it in r4 when I spelled
2001 Space Odessey in stead of Odessy or something like that.

I think that if a random galaxy manages to theme they probably have the organization needed to get in a C/P alliance. The main problem isn't really being good enough, it's looking good enough. Once you're invited you're ok.
Oh and I am really waiting for the name change feature. I signed up using my nick as ruler name and am sitting waiting for the ability to change so I can move into my galaxy. Somehow they think it's badif people know I am there, wierd people...

i wonder what would happen if they announce that this can't be done cause of some db issue or whatever...

Not a chance that I'll pay twice.
Most likely I'll announce my availability to join a galaxy that will accept that I use my nick as ruler name. I'm sure someone will have me

It works
The namechanging works now.
So my galaxy have allowed me in.
I suppose they believe that it's safer to have Jane of Eyre in the galaxy than Chax of Xanadu.

have a name change at pt0, and a name change at pt1000
so people got the possibility to have their own nick, in the history books..

its a idea for round 10 maybe
when you signup you enter Ruler name, Planet name and Irc nick/forum nick
then at end of game we put up the rankings and everyone can see where everyone (friends etc) finished up

Afaik the Prefereces page is down atm no idea why, trying to grab fudge, other people are reporting other pages down, signup etc
due to this name change is'nt working at this time

It seemed a good idea when it was usggested ages ago but was never picked up. Still it would be good to list the real names and countries of the top ten players and the top 3 gals this round. At least no accounthopper would get credit for some planet he did not start.
