no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
i'm sure it won't happen lol but i was thinking that would be great if werent any new rounds and the game was just continuous or yearly rounds and the way to make things more fair is instead of new rounds players get resource bonus ever few months or something the longer your planet has been in the round + score + if hoarding resources to lower score the less of a bonus you get in resources so makes it abit easier for newer planets to build up?
just a thought

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
No. The game is a push on peoples bodyclocks and as it is. They need the downtime inbetween rounds to recover, this is why we keep losing players, because people cant hack the pace.. extending that would only kill the game quicker.
If you wanted to change the duration dynamics then the best way to do it would have it as.. 1st planet to hit 10 mill wins (round ends) or first alliance to hit 300 mill wins (round ends) depending on which area the PA team decided was the most important scoring zone.. maybe something that could be mixed up from round to round. It would definatly change how people play the game as there would be more of a rush to get score rather than knowing you have exactly X amount of ticks left to play

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
More importantly, the game is divided into a few phases:
1) Early round: rushes, soloing, research, exiles
2) Mid round: ally attacks, incoming scans, HCT trouble, constructions, late signing
3) Late round: lolwaves, blocks, politics
All three phases have their charms, but I would not want to be stuck in any one of them for months and months.

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
i dont understand how ppl do not understand, that it is impossible to repair this game. It is an old game, which has changed just very little in time and is hold together only due to the community which is also slowly getting smaller and smaller.
making this game more interesting and getting new ppl to join in would take a game made from scratch, with added graphics, more diverse military operations (blitzkrieg, bombing from distance, all-out attack with different classes of ships, etc; with every possibility having its ups/downs).. Id rather love to see some more single play option as well and another system for "alliances", which would benefit both parties in a more diverse way.. like having combined researches between planets in a specific alliance, have the alliances being able to go for different tech-trees for the paths that better suite their tactics..
theres no ways to make this game any better.. there are thousands of ideas to take and make a better new game though

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
the reluctance to allow a credit to be donated for like every 5 people a player brings to the game shows the unwillingness for this game to expand, sure you might get people who abuse the system but for every person who abuses the system there is someone who is a genuine signup which is more important.
Theres no incentive apart from bringing a player to the game that would make me want to bring my friends to this game.

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
paying someone to get a friend to sign up for planetarion does not make the game better.. Nor do I think it helps the game to get new players, since I just can not see why a new person should stay and play planetarion.. ppl that play this game are old PA players from early rounds and the only reason why they are still here is the community (well ok, i guess there could be some "new" players around as well, but im quite sure that it is a strong minority)

that's why the game has vacation mode ... even though it should be called "delete planet mode" as that's what it seems to be only used for

Re: no resets? (one round or yearly rounds?)
could always use speed or beta servers to run a second game in conjunction with the main game , ticking on xx:30 with different game styles such as capture the flag ,no alliances , no galaxy's and old school stats like those used in pa world cup (war/science ) . those servers could also be used for alliance wars 50v50 , there are endless possibilities all that's needed is a little vision and direction

you'd be surprised the amount of new players you get to stay and play if you offer rewards for bringing new players to the game
