An open message to Planetarion
The following is a message that I sent, on behalf of ascendancy, ingame to an Omen and an ND HC. Given that I've never appreciated politics being limited to a set group of retards I thought I'd give everyone the opportunity to at least view what is going on at the minute, even if you play in alliances which do not allow you the opportunity to participate politically.
Quote:
Greetings,
After last night I've decided that I'm not really down with the current situation. As such if ND and omen are in targetting us tonight tomorrow we'll have a vote on which of those two we will hit for a period no less than two days longer than they spend targetting us or until the round ends. This is not a threat and it's a sad state of affairs that we've been backed into the corner where this is our only option. I'm not going to ask ascendancy to lie down for anyone and I'm not going to ask them to fight someone else's war. Unless things change tonight from tomorrow on we'll have our own war. Cheers and please pass this on to whoever in ND/omen you feel needs to know it.

Re: An open message to Planetarion
Just to make this clear, it is not meant as 'stop hitting us or else'. Up until today, hitting us has been risk free, since we've basically just been pegging Conspiracy Theory back. This situation is about to change, and the relevant parties are being informed so they can make an informed decision.

Seriously though for whatever reason VGN seem to have decided that a 1% chance of ascendancy winning the round is far worse than some stagnated piece of dull shit end to the round, I had a conversation with _are_ the other day where he basically expressed such an opinion. If enough people in ascendancy decide they want vgn to be included in the poll though they will be. The issue is that I honestly have no idea what vgn are actually doing, a number of their members have told me they don't like what's going on and that it's the decision of a few HC but we still see the same scenario each night. Personally I've assumed that omen and ND are both hoping we'll fight CT for them and peg them back while they get fat. Given that I have very little idea what vgn gain from this I didn't bother mailing them.

VGN aren't hitting us because they want to win, but rather because they don't want us to. It's hard to reason with someone whos fundamental goal is not their success but your lack of it.

I don't believe ND hitting Ascendancy is motivated by a will to win. Obviously I could be wrong and I don't speak on behalf of ND.

Considering it hasnt been in ND's interest to hit Asc for atleast the last 2 nights, I wouldnt call it chicken shitting out of it, I'd call it doing the right thing for them and not CT/Omen.

Unless my memory fails me (as Im too lazy to go searching through old posts to prove some trivial point) the last time Ascendancy pulled a "we will have a poll and vote on who we will kill" threat they actually ended up going against their own vote... So much for that
Just seems like everyone finally can see straight through the Ascendancy propaganda of threats and promises, and just don't care about anything other than You not winning this round...(how does it feel being in Denials shoes?).

Game started that vote. The difference between Game and JBG in Ascendancy is that while no one ever listened to Game, everyone always listens to JBG.
Edit: oh, and Game's poll was for everyone else. This is just JBG letting everyone in behind the scenes on everyday happenings in Planetarion politics. This is hardly the first time an alliance has set down this sort of ultimatum, nor I hazard, will it be the last.

Re: An open message to Planetarion
All of the above posts are probably correct. Maybe ND have other reasons for hitting us, fair enough, I'm not claiming to be psychic. Aye barrow, it does sound like that and I didn't really want it to, but what else would you have me do? Nobody is afraid of incoming Maverixx and certainly not ND in my experience, but again if you were in my situation what would you do? Yes GJN, hopefully we will receive less incoming tonight, quite obviously that was a large part of my rationale for posting this. Yes Red, it is a move of desperation, I desperately hope everyone else sees sense here and we can proceed in a relatively sane fashion throughout the rest of this round. Perhaps though you'd like to offer me an alternative solution. I'd be glad to consider it.
Edit: I started this post when red's was the last post.

Perhaps not, but I would seriously hope my second favourite alliance in PA, actually the only other one I have any time for at all, is a bit bigger than that. Not in the sense that they might want Asc to lose, which I can understand, but rather that they feel they are better than an alliance that can only manage top spot on the basis of everyone else's ambivalence.

doh...
It hasn't been a good move for them? Attacking Asc (and some other randoms in between) and thus ensuring Asc keeps hitting CT only... Not having Incoming is the best way to winning?
Hence why JBG is making this move, he fully expects ND to be the one to pull from a threat like this. I'm not so sure they'll be dictated on what to do tho!

I think the only way to play games is to have fun while doing it. Equally if you don't take pride in what you accomplish there's very little to be gained from it. Who wants to play a round of planetarion like a machine and take a #1 spot? That's just dull. I mean, I laugh at people in ascendancy when they get owned by something amusing. If you can't find entertainment in PA I'd seriously reconsider why you're bothering to play it at all to be honest.
Edit: To go back over something I have the greatest of respect, and I know a lot of "senior" members in ascendancy have the same, for ND. There are also a number of people in omen who I would consider friends and excellent people to play alongside. This is not me trying to threaten them or coerce them into a particular course of action or force them to play the way I want to play. But this is what I've been left with. What would you do if you were me?

So.. The reason asc is getting hit so badly is because their not nice guys? If they only behaved better things would be different?

I'm pretty sure Asc wouldnt have bothered hitting ND whether we joined the bandwagon against them or not, CT/Omen are Asc's competition this round not a hilariously under-par ND that will only win via 300+ (exageration!) equally luckily scenarios happening all at the same time. I personally have been complaining at our HC to stop hitting Asc for 2 days, im hoping if we do stop it would be because they listened to reason and not crapped their pants at JBGs empty threats.
Like I said, from what I can tell, we're not hitting Asc because we want to win, but rather because we don't want Asc to win (unfortunately).

Re: An open message to Planetarion
So if asc is finally getting pounded they r upset what u think denail had the rounds they played we had same thing so did ND when they were on top or a thread every ally would get it.
difference is this time it aint the top alliance getting hit but an potential threat for no1 spot.
Tho it makes an game fun aint it seeing 300-500 incomming fleets a night.

I thank you for your observations but you don't really appear to have said anything here. Yes we have had incoming this round. Yes we had incoming in previous rounds. I'm not trying to dictate to anyone what they should do here, I've talked to people prior to doing this. This is what I've been left with.

Fair enough. I would imagine it'd be pretty obvious to anyone with greater intelligence than a pea that 1/2/4/5 versus #3 isn't an excellent political scenario for #3 heh.

Are you really saying that ND aren't aiming to win/in a position to win? with the way things have been going over the past couple of nights, ND are in a great position to win. CT are being pegged back by Ascendancy, Ascendancy are being gangraped... this leaves Omen who are 5 mil behind ND. They're in a pretty decent position to win the round...

That isn't what this is but I'm glad you've managed to misinterpret the entire thread and allow me to clarify myself again. This isn't don't hit us. This is "continue hitting us as you have been doing for the last 4 days and we'll have to hit back". Perhaps "continue hitting us and we'll try and fight the #1 alliance for you" is what you're looking for? If so you won't find it here.

and sorry to bring this back....
But did that ever stop everyone teaming up on Denial, just cos they were Denial?
No.
So stop complaining. This is a game. Ascendancy has been decided as a threat, especially considering you won last round and have a reputation for grand finishes. Consider it a compliment that everyone is teaming up on you, We did ^^

Not only is that is a false dichotomy but isn't hitting the #1 alliance what planetarion should be about? How long do you think this current scenario should continue for? I'd be greatly interested to hear how you think this round should go.

Re: An open message to Planetarion
Personally I have no problem with people not wanting us to win. In fact it's pretty reasonable. But prostrating yourselves to an alliance that has never fought anyone in it's entire existence in order to achieve that is a bit much. Perhaps it's a little purist of me, but I always thought good strategy was about doing the best you can for you and yours in any given situation. Realpolitik I guess. And while you may not win at least you can look back and know you played the best game you could and finished as high as was possible given the prevailing circumstances.
So, I don't blame any alliance for hitting Asc they way they have, but I am rather annoyed at them for all napping CT prior to that. What, exactly, was the point of telling the #1 alliance that you won't be hitting them for the foreseeable future when you've already secured guarantees they won't be hitting you?
In Omen's case they are obviously did it out of self-interest, because they still believe they can overhaul CT later. This solution means they don't have to beat Ascendancy with just themselves and VgN, a war they had already been on the losing side of twice this round.
VgN are in it for the sheer joy of the vendetta, so logic does not apply. That said at least they supported Omen in all of this and so are making a difference in that way. (While the logic of selling out your own members best interests for those of another tag is a little distasteful to me personally at least it makes sense.)
And I guess I don't really know why ND did what they did. I suppose I was just hopeful that someone there had a cunning plan of some sort to turn this situation to their advantage. Perhaps VenoX is right though and, let's face it, CT wouldn't be the first alliance to be handed a round of PA. They would certainly be the least deserving however.

As JBG has said, he didn't intend this as a threat, I think it is more as a way of expressing some reasoning and logic, and hopefully this is what the respective HCs will see.
If they don't, that threat is still there though!

JBG stop being such a complete pussy and hit back anyway, who cares if you hit back? If you were dominating now you would be hitting every big planet in uni.. (obviously)
You havent been hitting back because you know Ascnednacy can win the round, BY hitting CT, the fact that you are stating if you get hit again by Omen/ND you will put a poll up and hit them for a 'long' period of time its just comical... I mean you guys so hypocritical, firstly Ascendacy was going to hit Omen UNTIL THE END!!! So now thats not happening, you start hitting CT, and others are hitting you because your most likely to win, fair enough? so now your saying you will hit ND/Omen who are not as likely as CT to win the round, is stubborn and pathetic and i REALLY hope ND/Omen hit you and tbfh i hope more allys hit you.. if you guys give up your chance of #1 to start smashing Omen again i would LOL alot
Overall, this is the first time in ALONG time i can say to Ascendancy and their forum team, THAT YOU GUYS ARE SHOCKINGLY pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: An open message to Planetarion
Lets not forget that.
1) CT and Omen where actively sending ships on eachother while Asc grew - untill the point where CT and Omen decided to stop hitting each other and smack asc instead.
- Guess what the unchallenged growth is over for this round girls, you got to fight for it.
2) Asc after the 2 last round wins, where the other top alliances didnt do any effort what so ever to stop them - mouthed off during EORCS how easy and absolutely effortless it was to win a round of pa.
- This time you cant walk to the win you will have to put in some real effort, noone is letting you walk off with it again it has to be earned.
3) Your Ascendancy!
Everyone is having great fun in smacking you - and as you wrote JBG its all about the FUN and guess what this sure is FUN

It is stubborn yes. Ideally it's not what we'd like to do. But it's the only option we're left with.

What chance?
<Munin> 30000 roids will mine 1800k value in 24 ticks (1 days). Assuming relatively normal bonuses that's about 3 mil score per day CT gain on us. This is an alliance that is well over 20 million score ahead right now.

ND are in a position where they can win yes, aslong as x, y and z happen and possibly a, b and c too (its an outside chance basically). ND didnt start this round with the intention of winning and thus far I've yet to see any action from ND command that shows to me that they actually want to win and have any sort of clear idea about how they are going to go about it. I don't believe ND hitting Asc has enhanced our chances at winning when we could have gotten so many more roids by gal raiding etc and still not been targetted since we are, as yet, not a threat.
I'm not really sure what you're motivation for posting against my opinion is, besides the fact u dont like me, since I'm pointing out that ND shouldnt be hitting Asc anyway if they actually want to win (and I do want ND to win surprisingly!), isnt that the whole purpose of this thread?
