You misunderstand: PA Team is not blocking anything. It's Netgamers that made the bogus demand. There's nothing about registering more than 3 IRC channels that requires that you're in something called an "alliance'. That's just Netgamers deflecting responsibility. Given this reality, I can perfectly understand PA Team's stance in this. The 2+ rounds rule limits the risk that you're just a fraud.

"limits the risk that you're just a fraud". Creating those alliance nicks takes like 2 seconds, removing them is twice as fast... or should be if they've got their stuff configured in a sensible way. If there's no tag playing with a given alliance nick, just purge it and I'm quite certain that both NG and PA teams are able to use common sense when giving these nicks out.
