Them Crazy Yanks is At It Again
Look , its quite simple.
If you have a jumpy , trigger happy maniac in your armed forces , YOU DO NOT GIVE HIM AN AUTOMATIC WEAPON OR SIT HIM IN A TANK!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3159019.stm
*sigh*
Its nice to see them keeping count of how many Journalists have been killed. Especially noting that of the journalists killed , almost all have been killed by the Americans.
Whoever did this will of course, be cleared by a military tribunal, and his identity never revealed. They knew the risk , yadda yadda yadda.

That would be nice. Then again, we'd have to rid the country of most of the "red-blooded, gun-slingin', tabacco-spittin', numb-nuttin'" jack-asses who are allowed, by natural law, to breed and raise children of a certain mindset.*
* I won't proceed to ridicule my armed forces, it's unfair. I'll leave someone such as Sandsnake, who has distinct experience, to answer any further questions, etc.

The leaders of the northern alliance got killed by a bomb in a camera.
They claimed to be from newsweek, they were from osama.
Moral of the story: if he unarmed but carrying a camera, and claims to be from a major news organization, take him out before he gets too close.

If I was a reuters reporter right about now, I'd be leaving Iraq. US troops seem to have a "thing" for them.
Without knowing what happened, it's hard to say what the truth is. Was it his fault? No idea. Was he pick his shooting spot poorly? probably. Reporters tend to be fking retards when it comes to running around armed soldiers who are watching their mates die from guerilla tactics.
Anyone who tries to make a pre-judgement on most any news story that skips over extremely important details, as either unknown or unimportant, needs to be shot in the face.
And not with bullets. (first anyway)

I do not at any time recall hearing of a single american soldier brought before trial for the death of a reporter. Whether he shot them , blew them up , fired a gun or a missile. Inside a warzone , anything goes, and the trigger happy survive.

I did not see anything in that article that noted "almost all have been killed by Americans." Do you have something to back that up?

I like to cry about US arrogance, stupidity and general lack of sophistication just as much as every other european, but in this case I have to say that if you are a reporter in a warzone (which Iraq still is), you should accept hte risk of being shot.
Whenever a reporter is killed it is always big news in the media (now *thats* a surprise isnt it??), but I regard it as much less of a drama than any single civilian getting killed; after all, the reporters *chose* to be there in harms way, the civilians didnt.

As much as I usually condemn the utter stupidity of the american armed forces and foreign relations committee (i think they just sit around drinking beer telling darkie jokes to be honest), are you actually refuting the assertion that we ascertain the facts before launching off on another bitter tirade?

What is this warzone crap, was not the war declared over months ago? The coalition troops are only peacekeepers.
This case is basically the same as when that black immigrant somewhere in the states was shot 40 times by the police while reaching for his wallet. An innocent person getting killed because of the police/soldiers not keeping their heads screwed on. I'd like to know what facts Sandsnakeis is waiting for that could take the shooter of the hook.
At least in the movies the brave americans are always under strict orders to only fire if fired upon. Now, movies are movies and I guess they might be excused for shooting first if the target actually could have posed a threat (had some sort of a weapon)
But now there simply can be no excuse at all. Clear case of manslaughter.

Just because american planes aren't dropping bombs on Iraq anymore, it's still a dangerous place to be.

No, but feeling unsafe and killing people because you are so scared that you have no businesss packing a gun is not the same thing. Especially when it it a part of your job and training to be able to handle the stress.
That the people who are suppoused to make the streets safer go around shooting innocent civilians does not a safer city make.

Hey, I never said I thought the shooting of a cameraman was acceptable. If the soldiers are making mistakes like that, they should be trained better.

what else did you expect to happen? ofc you get a little trigger-happy if there are terrorists and whatever around and you might get shot every second you walk around in the public.
only one of the reasons why i still think the whole thing in iraq will never work out for the us.

I am glad that there are stupid people like you in the US.
or else, We wouldnt have any people in the infantry.
There wouldnt be anyone willing to get paid less than 2000 $ a month to go to Iraq. We couldnt invade other countries and extend our territories.
so, thank you sandsnake and others like you (hello texas) for existing.

This is America. Instead of improving techniques, training or making things more efficient they instead increase the budget and buy more.
More tanks.
More planes.
More soldiers.
Quantity over quality.
And all that.
