In 2003 6 skeletons of what most experts believe to be a new species of hominidae was found on the remote Indonesian island of Flores. They were dated to be 12 thousand years old which is very recent. Homo floresiensis was very small, had relatively long arms, and had a real small brain.
There is a common story among the locals there of “small people who looked like monkeys” called the Ebu Gogo. Locals insist it lived there recently and the stories say the last time they were seen was when the villagers tried to kill them for killing their children.
