In essence, arrogant people are quite intelligent, funny, and they do know what they are talking about it. Arrogance is a result of knowing that you do KNOW and your peers dont. Arrogance is knowing that you can win no matter what, and expressing it. Arrogance is just not accepted amoung the public, because it simply informs others that they don't know, or that they can't win. Who wants to be informed of that?
A benifit of being arrogant is that you are better, and you do know more than your average peer. If you don't mind the fact that you will lose a lot of friends, then being arrogant is cool. But if you value a quality life, i.e friends, good times and memories, girls etc (quality girls. Arrogant people do get girls, just shitty ones) then chances are that arrogance should not be part of your personality.

Arrogance is a good way of coercing the deferential to do what you say. Aka, 1950s UK 1/3 of working class voters went with the Tories because they were "better".

It's also a great way of getting other equally arrogant (or intelligent) people to dislike you very very quickly!
