Ship Stats abbreviations
I cant believe i have to ask this but i couldnt find it any were and its keeping me awake. In the ship stats sections of the PA manual.. What does, E\R, A/C and D/C mean?
Also, i am guessing that "Gun" just means that it can fire that many times in one tick.
Thank you.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
It's no problem, I was a little stumped when I took a look at the stats as well!
E/R means EMP resistance - i.e. the % chance that an EMP shot at a ship will not be successful.
A/C means Armour/Cost - it shows how 'cheap' a ship's armour is in relation to its cost.
D/C means Damage/Cost - it shows how 'cheaply' the ship deals damage to other ships, in relation to its cost.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
'Gun' means how many guns a ship has.
The default number of guns is 1 (one). However, EMP ships (EMP = ElectroMagnetic Pulse), can have more guns.
EMP ships try to 'freeze' their target ships. A ship with 4 guns can shoot 4 EMPs. Every ship has an E/R (EMP resisstance). This is the % chance a ship has to withstand 1 EMP being shot at them.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
The Higher the A/C and D/C number in the ship stats is, the more powerful the ship is. A high A/C = lots of armour for the price of the ship. A low A/C = a low amount of armour for that ship. EG, Terran ships have a higher armour value than Xan ships. However, Terran ships are also more expensive than Xan ships. A/C and D/C values consider the price of the ship as well as the armour or damage. Thus, as Terrans have a higher A/C value than Xan ships, Terran ships have more armour than Xan ships given the same price.
Also, a higher ER is better as it means that your ships are more resistant to EMP for the cost.
As for exactly how combat works, that is delt with elsewhere in the Manual, like the Forumulae page.
Enjoy .

That's a bit confusing!
Basically - the higher the number the better.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
AC/DC indicates how many AC/DC albums the ship can play during any given tick.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
I still dont understand though why cath ships dont ahev a damage stat? Does this mean that if 1 ship shoots and is successful with its emp it will frezze anything?

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
likewise if it has 4 guns can it frezze 4 ships potentially? OR just has a greater chance in freezing one?
This was never a problem in the previouos rounds not sure why emp needed to be changed :S

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
guns * (1-e/r) = ships frozen
e/r being in decimal form of course!

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
so just to make sure. The higher the E\R the better right? So 92 E\R means that i have a 92% chance to resist emp?

Yes. Take for example;
Guns * (1-ER) = Ships Stunned.
EMP resistance of Ship 1 = 95.
EMP resistance of Ship 2 = 40.
100 EMP Guns fire at each ship type.
Thus;
100 * (1-0.95) = 5 of Ship 1 are stunned.
100 * (1-0.4) = 60 of Ship 2 are stunned.
Therefore, the higher the EMP resistance, the fewer of those ships are stunned, given the same number of EMP guns firing at them.

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
The above given explanation of is not entirely correct (theoretically):
guns * (1-e/r) = ships frozen
The larger the number of guns shooting, the closer it will be to this formula however.
Officially, the ER is the CHANCE of a ship nto being frozen by 1 gun.
So, if a gun shoot at a 80% ER ship, then that ship has an 80% chance (!) that it will resist the EMP.
Very theoretically, all guns cud 'miss', and theoretically, all guns cud be succesfulll either.
it is a very small chance tho :P
so: guns * (1-e/r) = ships frozen
is an estimate, and the actual battles will be clsoer to this, when more ships (guns) are involved

Re: Ship Stats abbreviations
Well, remy is right but he's just being overly complicated about it .
Pretty much, the probability that exactly 95% of Ship 1 is stunned when fired at by EMP weapons is normally distributed around a mean of 0.95 - the standard deviation would have to be pretty small, and i would imagine that even 4 standard deviations away from the mean wouldnt quite be at 0, thus it is extremely unlikely that you wouldnt stun anthing.
Still, that's more of the realm of statistics and/or econometrics. Dont go there, its not fun.
EMP resistance is all you need to know.
