Whale lost in London. Can't hail a cab...
Oh noes!
Is it cause I'm vaugely black?
Slow news day for Sky News as they've had nothing but coverage of this whale getting lost in the Thames river. They've replayed the same couple of clips of it over and over.
They've had 3 or 4 irritating "experts" on who've said the same thing, "this is unusual, usually they'll die, not much we can do, this is unusual, it happens somtimes, probably will die etc. etc."
Perhaps it makes a change from the usual things you might see floating in that river though.
Where's Greenpeace when you need em? Eh?

Re: Whale lost in London. Can't hail a cab...
When I lived in Hilo Hawai'i, humpback whales would regularly swim into the bay. One time we were out there on a canoo and a momma and a baby whale came up right next to/under us. Hearing those things breathe is just amazing, and seeing them is too. Kind of scary as well, the canoo suddenly seems like a tiny fickle stick.

It's only because it's in London and the news organisations are also in London.
"Sea monster swims up Firth of Forth; eats ferry" might get a mention if the news were particularly slow. Might.

I like the fact it got to Chelsea and then decided to turn around.

There's plenty of Japanese tourists in London who'll no doubt be picking up their chopsticks and heading for the river right now...

I thought this thread was about Michelle McManus. I'm glad it wasn't.

If he's going to come here and say that, maybe I should follow it up with
'American tourists today complained about the small portions of whale sushi shown on CNN'

They've thrown it on a barge and are taking it out to sea. Causing car crashes and pedestrian deaths as people race across bridges to see the thing go underneath.
I can see The Sun's headling tomorrow "Forgiener Causes Chaos in London" and there'll be a 4 page spread on how likely he is to seek asylum and be a terrorist.

It's apparently dead now.
(and the obligatory BBC News link to prove that I didn't make it up : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4635874.stm)

Re: Whale lost in London. Can't hail a cab...
There has been a dolphin stuck in a marina for nearly a month.
The programme Flipper seems to be inaccurate, this dolphin never tried to communicate with us, nor did it jump in and out of the water when we went to see it. There were also no warnings about any hyperspace bypass contructions in our area.
