Question re how PA rounds decimals

Ok so please try and understand me here;

Advanced Core Extraction by Default takes 24 ticks.

Cathaar get 10% Research Bonus
Engineering 2nd Priority Research gives 10% Bonus

20% of 24 = 4.8 Ticks

Does PA see this as 4 or 5 Ticks?

Advanced Core Extraction should now takes 19 Ticks, yes?

Just working on a plan and need to know this for obvious reasons!

Re: Question re how PA rounds decimals

Check the formula in the manual.

Code:
total_modifier = engineering_bonus + laboratory_bonus + racial_bonus

Final_time = original_time * ((100-total_modifier) /100)
And PA rounds this down. So 10% Cathaar bonus plus 10% engineering bonus means:

24* .8 = 19.2 => 19

PAWiki now has a page about rounding \o/

Re: Question re how PA rounds decimals

yes, there's a "Time is rounded down" bit just before the engineering forumlae at the bottom, which got added this beta because it still confused people like me. It also rounds down in the universe screen i think, hence the fact it always adds up to <= 100%

In what way?

Edit: for example, i am a xan (thus having -1 tick of Production), AND i have Production on 3rd priority (80%). Thus (with 12 ticks being basic production time):

Sov's Production time = (12 - 1)*0.8 = 8.8
This should be rounded down to 8;
"Ordered ships will arrive in 8 ticks." - lo and behold it is.

Re: Question re how PA rounds decimals

I added up the percentages of people using the different skins, and it only adds up to 91%. I wonder if this is a rounding error, or if 9% of players are using some other amazing skin, that no-one else knows about.

It's not a rounding error, it's rounding. If 29.2% of people use Skin A, it shows up as 29%, now with the amount of skins there are, that 9% doesn't show up. On the same note, if they rounded up (despite the decimal) all the figures, you'd have over 100%.

Re: Question re how PA rounds decimals

I was being sarcastic.

However, it IS a rounding error. I don't mean a mistake, I mean an innaccuracy generated by rounding.
