Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
And were free. reported the helmsman. The Dakota had just left the orbital dock she had been resting in. This was not her maiden voyage, but at the same time it was this being the first time the large Leviathan set sail to engage in combat. One by one her gunnery crews reported their weapons were charged and ready, the officers in charge of firing her mighty arsenal of torpedoes remaining silent for the moment those took a little while longer to load. The vessel was moving forward slowly, heading towards the Motherships she was sworn to protect at an idle speed.
Captain Fluffie eagerly looked at one of the engineer officers on the bridge, awaiting the words that would inform him the Dakotas reactors and drives were fully ready for combat. Lifting his head from his console and monitors, the man shook his head the time was not there yet.
Raising his shoulders and shifting his gaze back to the main viewscreen directly in front of him, he watched his ship creep forward relatively slowly, but surely, towards the Motherships and most likely, the battle.
This is the Dakota reporting for duty. Sorry were late, loading the torps took slightly longer than expected. We are nearing battle readyness and are enroute to the Motherships, please advise Prometheus.

well one must consider the fact big ships usually manuver slow, so all including the useless swarm weapons will probably hit the Super Battlestar thing

Heh. Crazy's ship would've taken them. And only suffered major cosmetic damage in the process.

This one was crap because Crazy ran in with an uber-ship.
Atleast limit the damn things!

Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
True.
I for one preferred it back when there were prices on systems so if you wanted an uber-ship you had to earn it.

Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
yes i like the price limit system, mainly because of Crazys Uber ship, if we put in a cost system i will gladly play, I guess I'll be the anit-gunship person again.

Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
I want the old one with the old cost system back. When I made my uber Strike Frigate of DOOM
Onslaught: The Really Cool Version.
Quote:
Ship Name - Archipelago
Ship Class - Corvette
Weapons -
1 Magnetic Assault Cannon
2 .512 Pulse Cannon
1 Interceptor Missile Launcher
Armor - Class B Ablative Hull Armor (6000 Armor)
Accessories -
Weapon Enhancement Mark 3 (on the MAC, if I have to pick just 1 weapon)
Artifical Intellignece Network Mark 1
Enhacnced Sensor Array
Crew - 250 Elite
Troops - 100 Special Op Marines
Cost - 81,500c (250c left over)
Name - Captain James Isoto Hunter
Birthplace - Mars Shipyards
Age - 34
History -
James' history has indeed lead to somewhere where he could be "The right man in the right place at the right time." From an early age, he was familiar with starships of all types, due to his upbringing. But any romaticism these beautiful starcraft had was shattered at the age of 10, when they began coming in, shattered and rent by Swarm weapons. As soon as he was of age, he joined up with the EarthForce Navy, and rose through the ranks quickly, through a combination of skill and losses among his superiors. He even at one point commanded a cruiser after her command deck's crew was wiped out, and fought off the Swarm attackers to bring the ship home. But assignment to the Archipelago is no step down from a Cruiser. She is perhaps one of the finest ships of the fleet, equipped with weapons and equipment to even make a Dreadnought Admiral envious, with a crew made up of the finest veterens of the War. And now it is time to defend these vessels of Earth's last hope... these Angels of Salvation...

Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
The stat-heavy pricing systems had a tendancy to be imbalanced in favour of certain weapons/hulls/etc. I think I slightly prefer the looser non-stat-based ones. Though Bakan needs to be a little more heavy handed in terms of vetoing ships & things (and increase the effectiveness of smaller craft such as fighter/fighter bombers/bombers against larger ships)

Re: Onslaught Chapter 1: The Flight of Angels - THE REMAKE
some stats might be good, a set of limits is definately good.
A possiblity would be weaker ships starting undamaged and quickly getting additional ships (since they don't need massive repairs) as well as attracting less attention
While large ships start in increasingly worse condition and don't get additional ships as easily, seeing as how they need to patched up first.
