Office 2007 Pro Beta
i think i might be in love. thank you, internet!
(only used Word so far, and seriously, bringing up the text formatting toolbar on right-click is such a tiny thing but such a clever thing. various powerpointy functions are also pretty ****ing tasty. And apparently there's pdf support. Get in.)

I'd thought about downloading it and now, just because you recommended it, I will.

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
I hadn't heard of it until I read this post.
Downloading now, and I am fairly excited (this is a fact which I am slightly depressed about).

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
I've been a Beta tester for a long time and it is seriously ace. The interface has changed dramatically and the menus have been replaced by toolbar boxes. It took a while to get used to but now I love it.

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
After 5 minutes messing with the new word, and a prediction league update using the new excel, I am now qualified to comment . First impressions are good, it looks very nice. The main problem is I can't ****ing find anything anymore, it's like being a beginner again. It took me ages to guess where to click just to load something!

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
i just use star office now, **** microsoft ive had a quick browse of office 2007 and in all honesty there isn't much there, every office since 95 has basically been 'Office - WITH NEW SKIN' , they need to put new products out to make money but they can't be too revolutionary with anything for fear of alienating the entire planet so what you get is little more than tweaks for £££££ (oh and an occasional change in format saving to force you to buy the new stuff)
when i right click in star 'writer' i get a menu showing me font/size/style/alignment/line spacing/character etc etc
i don't understand how so many people that steal from multibillion dollar entertainment companies sniff their noses at a product that will for 95% of the population do exactly what you need and that is completely free?!?!?!
phang i arsed up your thread, sorry

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
I think the exel looks easier to work than my quattro pro. But the skin on the new word is slightly annoying...

It looks very neat.
I'll download it one day and wait for the full version.

Re: Office 2007 Pro Beta
I have the extra functionality in Word really good. I had a large document to work on over the weekend and found it much easier to navigate.
Examples:
When you highlight text within a document a formatting bar with appear (slightly ghosted until you actually hover over it) next to the area you are highlighting.
The new menus accross the top are ace. Having a tabulated system for "Write", "Insert", "Page Layout" etc. works really well. - If anyone wants I will post screenshots of what is included under the sub menus.
