Cid watched the screen, his eyes burning as his pride overcame his fear (as usual).

MC: Sir, We have confirmation that one of the asteroids has surrendered, the other asteroid is still resistant.
Cid: Excellent, bring the Gripstar closer to that asteroid and use it as a sheild between us and the other asteroid base. Order Flapjack to do that same!
Comms: Aye, sir!

Cid watched the holoscreen and then looked again at the large massive force coming towards them.

SO: I have confirmation on those Shraanian identifications found on the Asteroids and the destroyers, sir... They are old Shraanian Space Navy...
Comms: Sir, the Dragon's Wing is hailing us, looks like they received our message despite your sudden... come back in the battle.
Cid: Open the communications link-up...

Cid watched and listened to Lady Hawk's proposal and story, at the end of each sentence he became more and more bemused. Cid was, way back in the day, a key figure in the Shraan Remnants fleet and was the man responsible for 'liberating' many planets from C'raask in the name of the Remnant. However Lady Hawk did have a point, the Shraan Remnant had not made a single move from their territory into the old Shraanian Empire he had discovered. Instead they hid within the Shraanian Sector, defending each and every inch of space around the borders with either powerful mines that could harm even hyperspace-mobile ships or with battalions of fleets and warships.

Cid again remembered his past battles with the C'raask over the Demai homeworld. A memory which his Number One, back then he was the helmsman, would even remember. He suffered huge losses to three C'raask carriers holding a total of three hundred 'converted' Swarm Hive Bombers, a weapon which Shraanians had used for years against them. He remembered the battle as he moved the two destroyers and the two cruisers in fornt of the Liovanda in an attempt to bottleneck the fighters towards a sudden burst from the Liovanda's anti-matter cannon. He remembered the plan failed as the ships simply bombed them out of the way, leaving the Liovanda an open target for a good two hundred Kylithium-Enhanced Cobalt Missiles to hit the Liovanda, shreading it apart within seconds.

He fled with the
Amodyte Cruiser, his first ever ship to command, and remembered what the Shraan Remnant did to him back then. He was an Admiral, but they still turned him into a measily Lt. Commander without letting him explain the reasons for his massive loss. The Liovanda, the last remaining Concordat within the Shraan Remnant...

Cid woke up from his thoughts, pressing a button to close the tactical relay and, in turn, stood up with his half-spilled cup of coffee. He looked down and noticed his cigar had dipped into it during the astonishing proposal by Lady Hawk.


Cid: Well, this is certainly a surprise and no mistake... I hope I speak for all the captains when I say that it was an odd way to test me and my allies, but a just one at least. I indeed do beleive the Shraan Remnant is weakening all the time, hiding away in the Shraan Sectors. However their is a slight flaw to your plan... The Remnant are strong, much stronger than you or I could take on with destroyers, two carriers and a command carrier. We will need reinforcements and support from other sources and, not to mention, if we tackle the Remnant we will leave ourselves weak for the C'raask to make the strike they have always been patiently waiting for.

Cid, hoping Burnham and Flapjack were listening to this conversation as well, picked up the cigar from his pocket and clicked his finger, the cigar end suddenly lighting with flames. It was not much-known that Cid was a half-breed between the Saxolites and the Besilons (the two factions of Shraan, even when it was a planet) and his Saxolite blood gave him a very fiery spirit, in blood and in his fingers. Cid was a psychic, although he could never get his talents past lighting his cigar with a click of the fingers.

Cid: I will join and lead your cause however, I am sure my father never thought I would be bold enough to do what he could not. The Shraanian Cause has faultered, it's time to bring it back. I shall meet you aboard your ship within moments, Admiral, be prepared for my shuttle. End transmission.

Cid watched as Lady Hawk disappeared from the screen and then sat down with a smile.

Cid: But first, lets get things done properly. Get some shuttles to the Asteroid bases with some officers and get that base operating as it should. Gillia?
No1: Aye, sir!
Cid: You are coming with me to the Dragon Wing, needless to say that if Lady Hawk saw a Demai as my second in command she may dig even deeper into her resolve and boost her own moral tenfold. Besides, I need someone I can fully trust to man a Command Carrier bridge whilst I am not their.
No1: It's a task to my liking, sir.

Cid looked up to make sure all communications channels were closed before grinning immensly.

Cid: Open communications to all areas of the ship, I want all crew members to hear this.
Comms: Aye, sir.
Cid: To all personel aboard the Shraanian Remnant Vessel Gripstar... As you know, we have lost all our respect from the Remnant and it's leaders due to faults that were not ours. This time we are not going to strive to gain that respect back. Admiral Lady Hawk of the Shraan Space Navy has given me an offer we cannot refuse, and that is to join her, make me the leader... and then take on the Remnant to form a New Shraanian Empire, as we once were before!

Cid listened to the mixture of bemusements and cheers from within the ship's hull, unsure whether his speech made them feel better or worse.

Cid: We are back in proper Shraan command now, no longer are we freelancing mercinaries bred from the Remnant... We are strong, we are powerful, we are Shraanians! End transmission.
Comm: Trnasmission ended, sir.
No1: A very noble speech sir...
Cid: I hoped as much... Right, lets get to the Dragon Wing then.

Cid and Gillia were about to leave the bridge before he stopped and turned around.

Cid: I know this will sound odd, but let's make a scene shall we? Remember, first impressions count and I do not want to turn up to a Command Carrier with only my Number One as company. Get an SSS comapny onto the shuttle to escort me alongside ten of our remaining fighters. All other fighters are to land and all marines to return to the Gripstar now that those Asteroids are ours.
MC: Aye, sir!
WC: Yes, sir!

And with that Cid left to the shuttle bay to board what would hopefully become his new flagship, one even bigger than the Liovanda.

The NEXI-34562 was constructed to serve as a full-size prototype of the Starburst FTL drive system. It configuration was a start-of-the-art, customized layout that would typically never be constructed

Official: NEXI-34562
Unofficial: Long Jump

Ship History:
Launched shortly before the Long Night, the NEXI-34562 featured prototype of what was thought to be the next generation of FTL drives, the Starburst Drive. Capable of far faster speeds than the current FTL drives with a significant cut in power consumption, the NEXI-34562 was to herald in a new dawn for exploration.

Unfortunately on its maiden flight, the Starburst drive malfunctioned, and the observing ships witnessed a massive explosion. For nearly 5 years the systems commonwealth searched for the ship, but all they found were debris from various sections of the ship, and finally the search was called off and the ship listed as lost and the Starburst drive system discontinued.

That is what the history books say.

The Starburst drive actually worked properly, but there was an unforeseen error in the navigation computer that caused the Starburst to force the ship through unknown sector of the universe. The strain of the travel broke several sections of the ship apart, most significantly the port flight pod, causing massive damage to the port side in general. Crippled and wounded, the ship found near an unknown star system in a unknown part of the galaxy.

Using the last of its power, the crew guided the ship towards the star system, where if found a long dead civilization, only bits and pieces of its technology remaining. Salvaging what they could in order to make the most basic of repairs, the crew of the ship attempted to plot a course back home, but were unable to due to not knowing their location.

For several long years they traveled the new galaxy, encountering other races, trading technology in order to assist them in their journey home. Finally they realized what had happened. Somehow the ship when it Starburst traversed TIME as well as SPACE (maybe due to their course taking them through uncharted regions), but by how much the crew couldn’t find out, but now they at least were able to make adjustments to their ships navigation computer and plot a Starburst home.

Making the fateful jump, they now encounter where their civilization used to be a completely brand new and dangerous civilization that no longer remembered them.


Sublight Engine:
  • Impulse Drive – 2000c – 1 Additional Mount

FTL Engine:
  • Starburst Drive: 1 Additional Mount
    The Starburst drive was designed for long-range exploration. What made it unique was that those onboard for short range journey there was no time lag between entry into Starburst and exit from Starburst, however externally the passage of time remained constant. Only for extraordinary long Starburst jumps would onboard crewmembers notice the passage of time, which was greatly offset from the rest of the universe. The amount of external time it took to travel from point A to point B was also decreased upon, while required less energy than conventional drives.
    This is not time travel by any means, nor is time travel possible using this drive, it is simply the ship and crew transitioning to another dimension where time runs different. This allows ships using the drive to greatly save on the amount of energy and materials and combustibles needed for long journeys, allowing them to go farther than previous ships could without as many resources being onboard.
    With the failure of the NEXI-34562, and the subsequent backlash against the project the Starburst program was discontinued, with the two other prototype ships dismantled. All records of the Starburst drive were lost.
    Configuration wise, the Starburst system required a intricate layer of conductive materials lined on the hull in order to generate the Starburst effect. Only 24.74% of undamaged material is required in order to make a Starburst, however risks of failure with the jump increase significantly.

Defenses Systems:
  • Hull Armor External: Free
    The Starburst drive configuration requires that an intricate layer of conductive material place on the external hull. The material used also had an unintentional side effect, which is being able to partially absorb some types of energy directed against it. Excessive amounts of energy will overload the grid, causing damage however the energy that is absorbed is channeled into ship systems. Several sections, particularly on the port side of the ship have been replaced with a variety of salvaged parts, giving the ship a patchwork appearance. However weak the ship may seem, anyone attacking it typically is surprised by the defensive power.
  • Hull Armor Internal: Free
    The internal hull armor is a network of solid plates, designed to absorb as much damage as possible. The plates are easily replaced when damaged. Underneath the plates is a layer of emergency vacuum foam stored in an inert gas. When exposed to vacuum, the foam expands, creating a very temporary patch, allowing the damaged section to be evacuated and sealed off.
  • Short-Range Flak Defense Grid: 8 Turret Mounts - c65000
    Fires explosives that detonates within 50 meters from the hull, prematurely detonating incoming projectiles and absorbing some energy weapons and preventing fighters from getting close to the hull, both friendly and hostile. Can be activated in sections or total coverage, causing one viewing the ship externally to think it erupted in flames.

Offensive Systems:
  • 1x Milzin Shield-Breaker: 2 Turret Mounts, 6 Additional Mounts - c45000
    The Milzin are a race that refuse to use shields due to technology conflicts, but with the other races out in the universe they run across shielded ships, and adapted. The Shield-Breaker uses 4 energy beams that target the same spot on an enemy ship. They then match energy frequencies with the targeted shield, then pull away, destabilizing and drawing away shield power for a fifth energy beam to fire in the former center. The resulting distortion can typically collapse a decent section of a shield system. The downside is the charge time and the fact that the weapon has to be retuned after every use.
  • 5x Long-Range Flak Interceptor Turrets: 2 Shield Mount, 3 External Mount - c1500
    Fires long-range explosive rounds towards a target, where once the explosive reach a set distance explode, creating a flak field. This is especially dangerous against enemy fighter formations and projectile weapons. Requires that the short-range flak defense grid in the section that the turret is location to be off-line.
  • 3x Long-Tom Cannon: 15 External Mount - c8000
    A massive cannon mounted on a swivel turret, these cannons are used for anti-capital ship purposes. Slow to aim and reload, what they do is launch a solid projectile at a significant portion of the speed of light towards the target.
  • 3x Point Rail-Guns: 4 External Mount, 8 Additional Mount – c5000
    The rail-guns fire hyper-accelerated solid projectiles at a target. The high firing rate and mass of the projectiles makes them ideal for anti-fighter operations, or if an enemy capital ship is close enough, to target specific sections.

Fighters:
  • 72x Viper Mark II Fighters: Included with hull
    The basic fighter of the time, at the peak they were the most maneuverable and fastest fighters in the galaxy. Seating a single pilot, they are armed with two rail guns and 2 torpedo launchers, used primarily for anti-fighter operations, and occasionally for attack runs on capital ships. The fighters are launched through launch pods on the starboard launch bay, and are recovered within the starboard launch bay.
  • 12x Stingray Mark III Fighter: Included with hull
    Classified as a bomber, the Stingray is armed with two sets of projectile launchers. The first set are light missiles, designed to home towards a specific system or enemy fighters. The second set are heavy bombs, which are used solely against capital ships to cause significant damage. They are also armed with two rail-gun turrets top and bottom to suppress enemy fighters. These bombers are launched through the launch bay, taking longer than the Viper Fighters.

Troops:
  • 3x ADCT: 5000C
    Advanced Damage Control Teams - They repair damage at 3x the normal rate.

Additional Systems
  • 1x Asgardaen Transporter: Free - 4 mounts
    The Transporter was a gift from the Asgardaen race. It allows teleportation of personal and small amounts of equipment between the ship and planets within orbital range. In addition it can teleport items/personal to other ships, or beam people from ships. It is very vulnerable to interference, unable to transport through shields or certain materials.
  • Advanced Engineering Bay: 2 Additional Mount – c500
    This allows the engineer to monitor all ships systems from the bridge and also increases power output 10%.

Anyhoo,
I'm fine with people earning custom equipment, designs, perks, archenemies, loads of credits, females and slaves, children, techs, doomsday devices and death stars, planets, systems, space stations, booze, ships and whatnot. You all probably know I've been on the receiving end often enough myself. But as far as I can remember it always was in or during the thread itself (and not before it) and I had earned it somehow (be this through destroying, being generally cool or sleeping with House leaders at the time ). Not right from the start like Bakan is doing for the second time this thread, right? This doesn't seem exactly fair towards the other players.

Just felt like saying this.

And I don't need tissues, Bakan.

Where did the 92500 total come from?

Incidentally, you have only 1 fleet carrier, as the other one is a fast attack carrier which is nearly as big as a command carrier (judging by the amount of fighters and mounts anyway).

Now let's see how long the Evil One will let you keep all this....

Good Morning Commander

Crazy gagged as his cryo chamber hissed open in a cloud of released gasses. He doubled over in a fit of coughing as the support straps snapped open. He sagged onto his knees as the foul tasting gel nutrients that had been pumped into his system to allow his body to survive the rapid unfreezing process. After a fitful minute of coughing, and having spat out a large mouth-full of the foul liquid, Crazy stood. His eyes were watering from the exertion and his face was rather red. He looked up to see the holographic representation of the ship board AI looking disdainfully at him.

“Its not my fault…”
”You could at least wear the cryo suits like the other crew members”

Crazy glanced down at his rather undressed body.

“They’re too tight around the groin. And too much of a hassle to get in and out of. Anyway, I don’t need one.”

Having sorted out that issue Crazy stumbled passed the hologram, as his muscles hadn’t quite got used to working yet and were still protesting. He finally managed to fall to his locker, which he pulled open revealing his very nicely pressed and very smart looking uniform, which had been kept nice and warm by the little radiators in the locker. Crazy quickly got dressed, as the hiss and pop around the room indicated that the other cryo chambers were slowly being opened and the crew getting their rude awakening.

A mere fifteen minutes later, the ship was a buzz with activity as the crew hurried around checking all the ship’s systems and circuits to make sure nothing had rusted away during the transit. Crazy sat in his ready-room, looking through the records, catching up on what had happened while he had been in cryosleep. It had been quite a lot so it seemed. He had some catching up to do, for it seemed his little mark in history had been mostly looked over. Well, that needed sorting out. And quite quickly. But first, the most important thing of all must be taken care off.

“Bridge, this is the Commander. It appears that are entire supply of booze has disappeared. A freak asteroid tore a hole in the cargo bay. Make course adjust to the nearest off-licence, then continue onwards to our final destination.”

Before I start designing my new ship(s) and get overly excited with my new ships, can you please tell me how much all the necessary repairs are going to cost me? I hope it's not too expensive. Or perhaps those Shraanian buggers feel sorry for hurting me and my crew so much that they're offering their services free of charge? :xmasgrin:

Also, when trying to figure out how strong a weapon is, what is a better indication to go by, number of mounts that the weapon uses or the cost of the weapon?
E.g. which is more powerful?

Hellbore Cannons - c 1500 - fires explosive plasma balls - x 4 turret mounts
or
Plasma Cannon - 2 turret Mounts + 1 Additional Mount - Fires A stream of plasma energy very devastating weapon it is a modified PPC - c 3500

Both are plasma weapons, but I'm guessing the latter is more powerful.

The best way to figure out which is more powerful is not technically the price, but the mounts it uses (The more mounts, the bigger the weapon is... usually bigger and more powerful weapons use more mounts).

However between these two I am guessing that the Plasma Cannon is more powerful (because it uses an additional mount rather than turret mounts, which are technically worth a little more) and it costs more (a clear indication of power). It really depends if you want your firepower to be a stream of plasma or a ball of plasma...

When the message ended, some of the crew began to cheer, but Dr. Burnham was still staring at the screen that was now displaying the asteroid field again. Like a good second in command, Lisa noticed her captain's reaction to the message and walked up to him.

No1: "Captain? Are you alright?"

Burnham: "Am I alright? Am I alright? No, I am not alright. The fighting may have stopped, but our ship took a heavy beating. People are still putting out the fires and repairing the hull breaches on three decks. The doctor told me there is queue of wounded outside medbay, waiting for treatment! And have you seen the list of casualties? Seventeen deaths! Seventeen! I personally knew some of the people on that list, Lisa! And what did they die for? A test! A STUPID TEST!! I'm telling you, that woman is pure evil. She's even sacrificed her own crew for that stupid test of hers. HER OWN CREW!! All those deaths, all those wasted lives, all for nothing, because it was just a test. How perverse!"

TO: "Mmmmmmmhmmmm. That gal has some real bad karma."

No1: "Well, she is Shraanian and captain Killer seems to trust her?"

Burnham: "Captain Killer, pah! He's so busy playing his own legend that he's forgotten how to think straight! Ten minutes ago he wanted to surrender, five minutes ago he wanted to fight and go out in a blaze of glory and now this Lady Hawk has really got him wrapped around her finger by putting some feathers up his Shraanian arse and he's walking after her like a happy puppy whereas we, his 'allies-until-five-minutes-ago', have been discarded like an old cloak."

No1: "What do you propose to do then, captain?"

Burnham: "Repair the ship as well as both of our new destroyers and refuel them. I expect the Shraanians will want payment, but see what you can get free of charge. When you're done, set a course back to the Ankaa space station. Civil wars aren't my cup of tea. Speaking of which, I could do with one."

No1: "I'll look after it, Sir."

Burnham: "Kimberly, record the following message and send to to captain Killer on a secure channel."

Comms: "Go ahead."

Burnham: "Captain Killer, congratulations on your newly acquired fleet. My crew and I will be refueling and making repairs to our ships and then we'll be on our way back to Ankaa. It has been... 'an experience' to fight alongside one with your reputation. I wish you good luck on your quest and perhaps our paths will cross again some day. One final word of warning though; in my line of work, you get a feeling of people's intentions despite their words or their actions and I'm telling you to be more cautious of Lady Hawk. She seems to intent on overthrowing the Shraanian government. She may just be using you to get into power herself. Why else would she propose to start a civil war that will cost the lives of thousands of Shraanians and leave your worlds weakend and open to attacks by the Insectids? Why not start your campaign by attacking the Insectids first? With each victory, more people will join your cause and in the end, the Shraanian government will fall by itself, without the need for civil war. I know you don't believe me now, but captain Killer, as your former ally, I am telling you to watch your back. End recording."

Comms: "Message sent, captain."

Burnham: "Right. Hurry up with those repairs. The sooner we get out of here, the better."

Cid listened the message and, when he was done, he rewinded it and listened to it again.

No1: You know, if I didn't know his species better, I would say he was Shraanian himself...
Cid: He certainly knows tactics, thats for sure... And he has displayed the plan I discussed with the bridge crew not half and hour ago through speech...
No1: It would be a shame to just let him go. You do know that this Lady Hawk would have to be put straight sometime.
Cid: You're telling me, but for now we play it her way... until the time is right anyways. I have no intention of diving into the Shraan Territory, not when they have been continuously arming themselves for the past forty years.
No1: Then what is our plan of action, sir?

Cid picked up a fresh cup of coffee from a nearby table and watched the dark liquid inside swirl quietly. He didn't want to miss the chance of giving up an entire fleet with added Command Carrier and he didn't want to charge straight into the worst possible scenario ever devised. After a while he looked up and staired straight ahead.

Cid: Once we have the Dragon's Wing fully under my control, we start doing things my way. Attacking the Shraan Sectors is pure suicide, therefore we will have to... weaken them one way or another. Burnham has a point, it is pointless to dive into battle against Shraanians whom could easily become our allies. Therefore we shall proove that not all Shraanians are content with sitting back and waiting for the C'raask to make their move. Instead, we shall move towards C'raask territory and make a few noble points towards the Remnant. I know that a lot of ship captains would rather mutiny than sit back and watch me do what the Remnant has failed to do for hundreds of years. In the end they will come to us, supporting us. When we have a good portion of the Remnant on our side, we strike the Remnant and take control of the Shraan Sector. The Civil War has not started yet, we are out-gunned and out-strengthed if we take the Sector head on.
No1: So, in other words, you intend to attack the C'raask first, reclaim the old Empire and then declare us as the Shraanian Empire. Then, at the point when we have enough support, we turn to the Remnant borders and strike there, taking that sector of space as our own. Then, after that we turn around again and finish the C'raask off once and for all, claiming the original empire you discovered all those years ago.
Cid: Exactly, this way we would be less vulnerable to either side and there would still be Shraanian cilivilians left once we claim the Remnant's core worlds.
No1: Sounds like a war that could go on for some time...
Cid: Technically the War never ended, the C'raask and ourselves have been fighting for over a thousand years, it's just been quiet the past forty years... too quiet.
No1: Shall I send a message to Burnham?
Cid: Yes... Record this message for me and send it through the private channel, make sure the Dragon's Wing cannot hear this...
Comms: Recording starting... now.
Cid: Captain Burnham, you have been an excellent ally in this battle, a mere test although it turned out to be. I am sure you are not best pleased with the outcome, however you do deserve credits and notoriety with me. Your advice seems the best course during this time, however I would rather take my chances with Lady Hawk than throw away an oppertunity like this. Rest assured, I do not intend on keeping her company for too long, her ruthlessness and sacraficial tactics may turn this fleet into rubble before my time is up. I would, however, provide an offer to you, which you may take now or later on if you wish to do so. I offer you a possition within my fleet, an ally and a friend in times of need. Beleive me when I say that I have little interest in striking the Shraan Sector first and, now, little interest in hunting for Kylithium again and again and again... Instead I intend on the reclaiming of the old Shraanian Empire, on which the co-ordinates are safely kept with me. If you accept this offer and carry out the initial strike on Demai Kank, the Demai's original homeworld before it's take-over, I will agree to hand over to you an undisclosed amount of Kylithium and 50% off any kylithium-enhanced products that I will be producing at a later date. *Just having settled himself back into his command chair, Kama sighs and looks around for a seat belt after hearing the latest update on their plan.

"Can I assume things are going to get a little shaken in here... very well, since our computer probably has the best chance of this succeeding and as this ship is most or less still factory intact."

*He pauses slightly to regard a view of the station and the small pod heading towards it, seemingly fueled by angst and a good wrenching or two. Thinking hard, with an expression comparable to having gummed ones teeth together with a small tub of toffee, he comes to a rather backward conclusion.

"Say, do the Insectid know we know they're insectid... sure they didn't give us the Borg speil to begin with, but those cube ships and weapons are fairly tell-tale. If they think that we think they're Borg, they might try acting a little more logically, if they really were Borg crewed they wouldn't be firing upon the meak science vessel with it's weapon (singular, lol) powered down. They shouldn't percieve us as the threat, and might allow us to get closer than any of the others... granted they're not actual borg, they may think we know they're not Borg, but if we know that then this would be exactly what they're not expecting. Expecting as if they were Borg, when really they are in fact Insectids, in a Borg ship, possibly pretending to pretend they're Borg in a Borg ship and not acting strategically as if they were as they are Insectids !!"

*Someone throws a glass of water over the raving commander

"Thankyou, I think I neeed that... but the plan stands, inform the Fluffie, he's got control of the Police Cruiser, we'll leave the station up to the TO... or the EO... whomever ends up in control, try not to bust up the place will you boys? As for the fighters, have them flank and orbit our ship, they're on defense only, if we are attacked, have them try to draw the fire, or work as Anti-Missile Defenses if that's possible.

Marine Staging Area
The Captain speaks, with a relieved sigh.

“Aahhh… Stimulants…”

MD – “Really though… Do what you need to do and do it swiftly, otherwise these babies are nasty.”

MC – “The Doc is right sir, these are old skool and badass, as in assly bad in the long run.”

“Two hours should be all I, or rather we, need. Think the med bay will up to a visit from me when I get back?”

MD – “Tea, sugar but no milk.”

”Heh, right. I’m looking forward to that special blend of medical treatment and tea Doc.”

Fluffie smiles as the Doc reassuringly grins at his captain and then leaves. After having watched the MD stepping through a door leading into another corridor back to his station, Fluffie looks down at his two weapons. He had already lifted, or rather, been lifted into his combat gear, with a comms device, spare ammo, a fixed flashlight, ‘nades and several other goodies attached to it.

“Good thing I cleaned them during the jumps leading here, ey?”

MC – “Can’t give weapons enough TLC, can one?”

Another Marine – “One can’t sir, one can’t.”

Chatting and discussing the assault plans and routines, the Marines, their MC and Fluffie spent their time already fully equipped and prepared, just waiting and hoping to board the Chrono Borg vessel soon…


The Bridge
Comms – “Incoming communiquι from Lt. Commander Kama.”

Warren – “Play it.”

”Is that channel open? Alright then, for this plan to succeed, our ship is going to have to get up close and personal with that scout ship, if you could continue to have them focus the battle on you fellows that would be appreciated, syncing up with our ship as the important moment approches, then maybe we can deliever this virus as soon as possible. This will be our last communication for awhile, good luck to your marines."

Warren – “You heard the man. Comms, tell our two Police Cruisers that we will be ‘escorting’ the Science Ship for a while. Make sure we keep on firing, just to try and not give them an all too clear idea of what we intend to do. Weapons, Helm, you know what to do.”

Comms – “Sending orders.”

Helm – “Adjusting course to match orders.”

WO – “Target still locked in, we’ll slap them some more.”

SO – “All ships ready for uplink as far as I can tell.”

Warren – “Alright then, we know what to do. If this all works and the virus knocks down their shields, we rush ourselves to their nearest airlock and force a dock, the Police Cruisers will follow us in acting as escorts and relief for our ship. If their shields do not go down, we will continue our attack runs like before. Does everybody understand?”

Helm – “We know what to do. Lets just hope this works.”

Warren – “It will.”

Comms – “Police Cruisers’ response is a-ok.”


summary
Fluffie and his Marines are ready to go.
EO is continuing repairs as stated in previous post(s).

The two Police Cruisers and The Outsider change course to cover the Science Ship for part of its run, but still maintain the formation, giving the Heavy Cruiser cover so that it can do some repairs. They are still firing all their available weapons (with continuing rotation of firing frequencies) at the Chrono Borg vessel’s forward section. All ships are ready for the uplink.

Once the virus has been sent, there are two sets of orders ready:
a) The virus knocks down the Chrono Borg vessel’s shields: The Outsider rushes towards it and forces a dock, unloading Fluffie and his Marines in a glorious assault.
b) The virus does not knock down the shields: The Heavy Cruiser and the two Police Cruisers continue their attack runs in the way they did before.

"Sir!, it a a peacekeeper heavy cruiser" 10 light second away.. fully armed and shielded"

Captain Armstrong was not listening though.. already.. his mind were focused on something else..
battleplans were flashing infront of his brown eyes, a flurry of his ship burning bright or being boarded..
flash after flash , the captain stayed, shook and trembled, as each battles pass in his mind.. The sight of his precious Black Dagger exploding in battle, until one of his 6th sense sight put a smile on his lips.. a plan so bold, it had to work...

green.. scan the sector for the nearest star system, for the nearest sun!

"Redgrave.. send all 40 fighters on the 2 remaining runabout.. order are to disable and bring in to our cargo hold!"

"have all weapons recharged, refill all Quantam torpedo tubes, now!"

"Mr desautels.. have all engineering crew repair the engins and shield , top priority.. , i also want you to build 2 SSD, to be mount on fighters.. "

Desautel looked at his screen a few seconds.. then replied.. :"2 ssd? ship simulator device? that s gonna take a while sir.. i ll need at least 10 minutes.. and those may be weak simulator.. what signal should i simulate?"

"The Black Dagger, both of them.." said Armstrong , "make them as strong as you can, with full warp and power signature!" he continued, "use all personel needed to complete the task..

"Andrews.. said the captain, message the Troth to withdraw from here, to return to base and await our signal to return, they are not the stay here..."

"Green, continue jamming the station signal, have the computer match the frequency and jam it ! i want those runabout in my hold!"

"Helen, as soon as we have the coordonate of the nearest star.. make a run for it, on my command.
i want you to get us as close as you can to the star, in fact within 3 light second of it!."

then Armstrong replayed the battle over in his mind, again and again, trying variation, looking up possibilities, until he heard his no1 again..

"Sir!, you cant be serious.. this ship is no match for the pker cruiser.. and we wont be completing the mission if we run!"

"who said we were running?" replied Armstrong, still smiling.. it s not us that gonna be running.. it s that s pker cruiser that gonna be running.. after a good roasting of plasma burst!" never losing his smile..

Mr.Andrew, open a comm to the peacekeeper cruiser.. send the following message "greeting.. nice fight you put in.. time to stand down or be destroyed, awaiting your reply within 5 light seconds"

1) order all fighters to disable the 2 remaining runabout, jamming the signal from the space station.
2)tell the Troth to pull out and return to base, and await our order to return.
3)recharge all weapons and shield , reload all quantam torpedo tubes (1st post , 1 recharge used)
4)repair the engins and shields
5)construct 2 ship simulator device to be mount on 2 returning fighters.
6)send the message to the peacekeeper cruiser.
7) use conventional weapons to disable the runabout.

on screen your weapons fire does have some effect as they all hit home on the rear section of the vessels - however a muderous volley of weapons fire is launched back at the front section of your ship and not one shot misses .....

the ships bridge goes dark and the gravaity goes off . there is a lot of sparks as control panels explode then there is a scream of such loudness it hurts your ears - the gravity comes back on and you fall to the ground with a thud you try to brace for the imapact but you have floated too high and break both your arms as you fall

your SO is DEAD imapled on a girder that has fallen from the ceiling - you can see deep space where once there was a hull - but the integrtity fields have kicked in but not before some crew tok an impromtu space walk

once more the ships leave you behind and head for the cargo vessels.......

*Hewitt awoke to find himself looking at the stars. Stars where slightly rusted steel plating should've be. For the moment he just lay there, completely obvious to his surroundings and the mayhem they contained. They were beautiful, those stars... *

*Then a body floated in the way and blocked his view.*

*In a rush reality came in and hit home. The sudden horror caused him to sit up in alarm, he instantly regretted it. Immense pain shot up his arms and into his skull as they protested against his sudden movement. He was forced to wince again as two pairs of rough hands lifted him from the floor and into his captains chair.*

MD: There we go captain. Now let me just take a look at you...

*CRUNCH!*

Hewitt: GAAARGH! R-report! Ack!

*The wisened old face of Dr Arthurs was as plain and wrinkled as always as he set to work impassionately treating Hewitt's broken arms and hot coffee scalding (). Arthurs was a talented doctor that Hewitt had picked up along his travels but his bedside manner left something to be desired. Probably why he'd been on Wanderer all these years. Standing behind the 'good' doctor and blocking most of the bridge from Hewitt's view was the man known to everyone only as Sgt Tyrannis, a mysterous fellow that tended to keep to himself except when giving out orders. Much like Hewitt himself. Tyrannis was one of the few that they had rescued from that old CSC colony. He'd hung around since, proving especially useful in a firefight a number of occasions already. Hewitt considered him as the 'leader' of the escapee's... there wasn't technically a leader, but everyone from the planet clearly looked up to the quiet man.*

MD: You can go now sargaent. I can handle things from here.

*Tyrannis simply nodded as he walked off to help the others. It was then that Hewitt caught site of something so horrible, it caused him the most pain of all...*

"Abby..."

EO: *Speaking solemly* Hull breaches on decks 1, 5, 6, and 9. Integrity fields holding. FTL Drives offline. Both port engines completely guttered. Alpha shield generator destroyed. Rear arc AFD destroyed. Number two Ion cannon inoperatable. Deflector dish offline. Shields down to 70%. Life support down to 95%. Basic systems down to 90%. Weapons power down to 95%... good news is I've managed to kickstart the manveuring vents, we should have full control now... yeah... good news...

"Oh Abby... no...

Junior-TO: *nervous* The enemy has changed course and is headed for the cargo vessels. They are still coming around as prior our previous orders and will come under attack within moments. Um sir.

"God no..."

Junior-Comms: I have the cargo captain online sir. They want to know your orders captain.

"no..."

Junior-TO: What are your orders sir?

"NO!" *Hewitt starts trembling."

WO: Abby... sweet jesus that sonofabitch killed Abby! His own sister! Oh sir you've gotta let me kill that motherfu(ker. I've got his beacon on scope but the fu(ker took out the rear arc AFD. We've gotta turn the ship around before it's too late! That bastard murdered Abby! Forget those other losers! They got us in this mess in the first place!!

*Just then a hand comes down heavily and rests on Hewitt's shoulder. Looking up Hewitt finds it is Tyrannis.*

Tyrannis: Mourn the death of loved ones later captain. Right now it's the living that need you. The dead can wait. *Looks over at Jack* Vengence can also wait.

WO: Fu(k it sir! Let's not mess about, let me kill that traitor now!!

Hewitt: No... *Tyrannis moves his hand away* No. *Hewitt stands up* No! We have a job to do. Mr Clark won't get far I assure you, and I'll be damned if I let the deaths of my fellow crew members go in vain all in the name of petty revenge. Besides... *Hewitt's eyes narrow* Revenge is a dish best served cold. Back to battle stations!

*Those that can let out a loud cheer do so, both on the bridge and around the ship (thanks to a little intitive on part of the Junior Comms Officer). Except Jack, but even so his mind clears of pain long enough to see sense and he simply nods quietly and gets back to work at his station. Everyone does.*

*From an outside perspective the Wanderer is still moving from her previous space-o-batics but thanks to the internal explosions she has a bit of a tilt when she is once again facing the direction of travel. At this point all remaining operational engines fire along with a number of correctional thrusters and soon Wanderer is limping away getting ready to go after her NSR antagonists, thirsty for more despite her battered appearancec. Meanwhile, both Coppitt's 1 and 2 are still a little further off still powering towards their protector as per the previous (failed) plan. Headlong towards the menacing purple ships. From all outside appearances they were sitting ducks to the roving Praetonian wolves.*

Junior-Comms: Sir! I have the Merchant captain on line three.

Hewitt: Patch it through.

Merchant Captain: "It's about bloody time! WTF happened Wanderer? I thought you were gonna take care of these brigands and now they're down on u-"

Hewitt: With all do respect captain those are Praetonian Guard ships out there-


Merchant Captain: "Praetonian Guard!? Oh fu-"

Hewitt: ...which makes me think there is something you aren't telling us.

Merchant Captain: "WHAT!? How dare you-"

Hewitt: Of course now isn't really a good time to be discussing this so I suggest you shut up and pay attention... unless you want to deal with this on your own.

Merchant Captain: "...I'm listening."

Hewitt: Spilt up and circle around our current position. Avoid enemy fire if you can but mostly keep your shields up. We'll take care of the rest.

Merchant Captain: "Oh sure. That fills me with confidence."

Hewitt: Just do it. ((*receives payment from Nike*))

Merchant Captain: "Fine."

Hewitt: And I'd suggest you do something to throw them off.

Merchant Captain: "Like what?"

Hewitt: Well you are carrying a multitude of weapons onboard......

Merchant Captain: "We'll think of something... McGanis out. ((He has a name now. ))

Junior-Helm: Sir, I've taken the liberty of turning us around towards the enemy...

Hewitt: Very good. Helm, commense a leading attack run on one of the Praetonian ships and make certain we have a clear shot.

Junior-Helm: Yes sir, thank you sir.

Hewitt: WO I want you to hit the rear section as before giving it everything you've got, even the AMD and AFD weapons. Do not let up until they're either dead in space or scattered across it.

WO: Yes sir.

Hewitt: And start charging the Particle cannon. Looks like we might need it afterall.

WO: Fu(k yeah sir.

*As the Praetonians closed on the cargo vessels, the wounded Wanderer came about and closed in on one of the Praetonian destroyers. She was leaving a trail of debris in her wake, bleeding like a wounded animal. But at the same time she was getting ready to bear her teeth again. A full on charge. Just like a wounded wild animal.

WO: I've got a lock... missiles away! Guns aways! Frikken kitchen sink away!

*Once again the batteries and launchers of Wanderer fired. But this time they were all concentrated on a single target and they had been given the luxury of a weapons lock. Bent downwards the forward arc AFD and AMD took aim and added their small stream of rapid fire to the powerful blasts of the mighty Photon cannons and destablising Ion cannon. Over the control tower the last load of gravatic missiles flew overhead, 48 missiles homing in on their painted target.*

*Meanwhile, heeding Captain Hewitt's advice, the Merchant Captain Mcganis made his desires known and the two cargo vessels pulled away from one another both heading in near opposite directions. The Praetonian's now had to make a choice, concentrate on one vessel or split up as well and go after both...*

*Yet more devious plans were a foot, cunning ambitious plans that could prove decisive or disasterous. Running around on the cargo decks on both container ships, men and women we're busy cracking open cargo crates and moving heavy equipment. On McGanis's primary vessel Coppitt One, he watched on barking orders as a line of Spideron-made "Concealment" tanks were brought forth and moved closer to the main cargo bay door...*

*Underneath Wanderer the gigantic tank-like turret of the particle cannon was finally coming to life, swivelling back and forth as the computer started going through all the startup checks and sequences.*

*And somewhere close by, the nefarious Tim Clark floated around his armoured escape pod, completely forgotten... for now. *

Summary

- COPPITT 1 and 2 spilt up and enter two new courses circling around Wanderer's present position. They head off at nearly opposite directions.

- See PM for details on cargo ship plans.

- Wanderer turns around and begins pursuing ONE of the Praetonian ships.

- Wanderer fires all operational weapons at the same rear section as before... but this time all weapons fire is concentrated on the one ship she is persuing.

- For the above, a weapons lock is acquired first.

- Weapons used: The last 48 gravatic missiles, 4 photon cannons, 1 (working) ion cannon... and both the AFD II and AMD III weapon systems.

- Begun charging the particle cannon.

*In a rush reality came in and hit home. The sudden horror caused him to sit up in alarm, he instantly regretted it. Immense pain shot up his arms and into his skull as they protested against his sudden movement. He was forced to wince again as two pairs of rough hands lifted him from the floor and into his captains chair.*

MD: There we go captain. Now let me just take a look at you...

*CRUNCH!*

Hewitt: GAAARGH! R-report! Ack!

*The wisened old face of Dr Arthurs was as plain and wrinkled as always as he set to work impassionately treating Hewitt's broken arms and hot coffee scalding (). Arthurs was a talented doctor that Hewitt had picked up along his travels but his bedside manner left something to be desired. Probably why he'd been on Wanderer all these years. Standing behind the 'good' doctor and blocking most of the bridge from Hewitt's view was the man known to everyone only as Sgt Tyrannis, a mysterous fellow that tended to keep to himself except when giving out orders. Much like Hewitt himself. Tyrannis was one of the few that they had rescued from that old CSC colony. He'd hung around since, proving especially useful in a firefight a number of occasions already. Hewitt considered him as the 'leader' of the escapee's... there wasn't technically a leader, but everyone from the planet clearly looked up to the quiet man.*

MD: You can go now sargaent. I can handle things from here.

*Tyrannis simply nodded as he walked off to help the others. It was then that Hewitt caught site of something so horrible, it caused him the most pain of all...*

"Abby..."

EO: *Speaking solemly* Hull breaches on decks 1, 5, 6, and 9. Integrity fields holding. FTL Drives offline. Both port engines completely guttered. Alpha shield generator destroyed. Rear arc AFD destroyed. Number two Ion cannon inoperatable. Deflector dish offline. Shields down to 70%. Life support down to 95%. Basic systems down to 90%. Weapons power down to 95%... good news is I've managed to kickstart the manveuring vents, we should have full control now... yeah... good news...

"Oh Abby... no...

Junior-TO: *nervous* The enemy has changed course and is headed for the cargo vessels. They are still coming around as prior our previous orders and will come under attack within moments. Um sir.

"God no..."

Junior-Comms: I have the cargo captain online sir. They want to know your orders captain.

"no..."

Junior-TO: What are your orders sir?

"NO!" *Hewitt starts trembling."

WO: Abby... sweet jesus that sonofabitch killed Abby! His own sister! Oh sir you've gotta let me kill that motherfu(ker. I've got his beacon on scope but the fu(ker took out the rear arc AFD. We've gotta turn the ship around before it's too late! That bastard murdered Abby! Forget those other losers! They got us in this mess in the first place!!

*Just then a hand comes down heavily and rests on Hewitt's shoulder. Looking up Hewitt finds it is Tyrannis.*

Tyrannis: Mourn the death of loved ones later captain. Right now it's the living that need you. The dead can wait. *Looks over at Jack* Vengence can also wait.

WO: Fu(k it sir! Let's not mess about, let me kill that traitor now!!

Hewitt: No... *Tyrannis moves his hand away* No. *Hewitt stands up* No! We have a job to do. Mr Clark won't get far I assure you, and I'll be damned if I let the deaths of my fellow crew members go in vain all in the name of petty revenge. Besides... *Hewitt's eyes narrow* Revenge is a dish best served cold. Back to battle stations!

*Those that can let out a loud cheer do so, both on the bridge and around the ship (thanks to a little intitive on part of the Junior Comms Officer). Except Jack, but even so his mind clears of pain long enough to see sense and he simply nods quietly and gets back to work at his station. Everyone does.*

*From an outside perspective the Wanderer is still moving from her previous space-o-batics but thanks to the internal explosions she has a bit of a tilt when she is once again facing the direction of travel. At this point all remaining operational engines fire along with a number of correctional thrusters and soon Wanderer is limping away getting ready to go after her NSR antagonists, thirsty for more despite her battered appearancec. Meanwhile, both Coppitt's 1 and 2 are still a little further off still powering towards their protector as per the previous (failed) plan. Headlong towards the menacing purple ships. From all outside appearances they were sitting ducks to the roving Praetonian wolves.*

Junior-Comms: Sir! I have the Merchant captain on line three.

Hewitt: Patch it through.

Merchant Captain: "It's about bloody time! WTF happened Wanderer? I thought you were gonna take care of these brigands and now they're down on u-"

Hewitt: With all do respect captain those are Praetonian Guard ships out there-


Merchant Captain: "Praetonian Guard!? Oh fu-"

Hewitt: ...which makes me think there is something you aren't telling us.

Merchant Captain: "WHAT!? How dare you-"

Hewitt: Of course now isn't really a good time to be discussing this so I suggest you shut up and pay attention... unless you want to deal with this on your own.

Merchant Captain: "...I'm listening."

Hewitt: Spilt up and circle around our current position. Avoid enemy fire if you can but mostly keep your shields up. We'll take care of the rest.

Merchant Captain: "Oh sure. That fills me with confidence."

Hewitt: Just do it. ((*receives payment from Nike*))

Merchant Captain: "Fine."

Hewitt: And I'd suggest you do something to throw them off.

Merchant Captain: "Like what?"

Hewitt: Well you are carrying a multitude of weapons onboard......

Merchant Captain: "We'll think of something... McGanis out. ((He has a name now. ))

Junior-Helm: Sir, I've taken the liberty of turning us around towards the enemy...

Hewitt: Very good. Helm, commense a leading attack run on one of the Praetonian ships and make certain we have a clear shot.

Junior-Helm: Yes sir, thank you sir.

Hewitt: WO I want you to hit the rear section as before giving it everything you've got, even the AMD and AFD weapons. Do not let up until they're either dead in space or scattered across it.

WO: Yes sir.

Hewitt: And start charging the Particle cannon. Looks like we might need it afterall.

WO: Fu(k yeah sir.

*As the Praetonians closed on the cargo vessels, the wounded Wanderer came about and closed in on one of the Praetonian destroyers. She was leaving a trail of debris in her wake, bleeding like a wounded animal. But at the same time she was getting ready to bear her teeth again. A full on charge. Just like a wounded wild animal.

WO: I've got a lock... missiles away! Guns aways! Frikken kitchen sink away!

*Once again the batteries and launchers of Wanderer fired. But this time they were all concentrated on a single target and they had been given the luxury of a weapons lock. Bent downwards the forward arc AFD and AMD took aim and added their small stream of rapid fire to the powerful blasts of the mighty Photon cannons and destablising Ion cannon. Over the control tower the last load of gravatic missiles flew overhead, 48 missiles homing in on their painted target.*

*Meanwhile, heeding Captain Hewitt's advice, the Merchant Captain Mcganis made his desires known and the two cargo vessels pulled away from one another both heading in near opposite directions. The Praetonian's now had to make a choice, concentrate on one vessel or split up as well and go after both...*

*Yet more devious plans were a foot, cunning ambitious plans that could prove decisive or disasterous. Running around on the cargo decks on both container ships, men and women we're busy cracking open cargo crates and moving heavy equipment. On McGanis's primary vessel Coppitt One, he watched on barking orders as a line of Spideron-made "Concealment" tanks were brought forth and moved closer to the main cargo bay door...*

*Underneath Wanderer the gigantic tank-like turret of the particle cannon was finally coming to life, swivelling back and forth as the computer started going through all the startup checks and sequences.*

*And somewhere close by, the nefarious Tim Clark floated around his armoured escape pod, completely forgotten... for now. *

Summary

- COPPITT 1 and 2 spilt up and enter two new courses circling around Wanderer's present position. They head off at nearly opposite directions.

- See PM for details on cargo ship plans.

- Wanderer turns around and begins pursuing ONE of the Praetonian ships.

- Wanderer fires all operational weapons at the same rear section as before... but this time all weapons fire is concentrated on the one ship she is persuing.

- For the above, a weapons lock is acquired first.

- Weapons used: The last 48 gravatic missiles, 4 photon cannons, 1 (working) ion cannon... and both the AFD II and AMD III weapon systems.

- Begun charging the particle cannon.

TO - we should have time to take the space station sir - if the runabouts are drones my guess is that the space station is on automatic and is unmanned

Comms - no reply and we are jamming all known frequncies sir

"Mr desautels.. have all engineering crew repair the engins and shield , top priority.. , i also want you to build 2 SSD, to be mount on fighters.. "

Desautel looked at his screen a few seconds.. then replied.. :"2 ssd? ship simulator device? that s gonna take a while sir.. i ll need at least 10 minutes.. and those may be weak simulator.. what signal should i simulate?"

"The Black Dagger, both of them.." said Armstrong , "make them as strong as you can, with full warp and power signature!" he continued, "use all personel needed to complete the task..

"Andrews.. said the captain, message the Troth to withdraw from here, to return to base and await our signal to return, they are not the stay here..."

"Green, continue jamming the station signal, have the computer match the frequency and jam it ! i want those runabout in my hold!"

"Helen, as soon as we have the coordonate of the nearest star.. make a run for it, on my command.
i want you to get us as close as you can to the star, in fact within 3 light second of it!."

then Armstrong replayed the battle over in his mind, again and again, trying variation, looking up possibilities, until he heard his no1 again..

"Sir!, you cant be serious.. this ship is no match for the pker cruiser.. and we wont be completing the mission if we run!"

If this all works and the virus knocks down their shields, we rush ourselves to their nearest airlock and force a dock, the Police Cruisers will follow us in acting as escorts and relief for our ship. If their shields do not go down, we will continue our attack runs like before. Does everybody understand?”

EO is continuing repairs as stated in previous post(s).

The two Police Cruisers and The Outsider change course to cover the Science Ship for part of its run, but still maintain the formation, giving the Heavy Cruiser cover so that it can do some repairs. They are still firing all their available weapons (with continuing rotation of firing frequencies) at the Chrono Borg vessel’s forward section. All ships are ready for the uplink.

Once the virus has been sent, there are two sets of orders ready:
a) The virus knocks down the Chrono Borg vessel’s shields: The Outsider rushes towards it and forces a dock, unloading Fluffie and his Marines in a glorious assault.
b) The virus does not knock down the shields: The Heavy Cruiser and the two Police Cruisers continue their attack runs in the way they did before.

LH - I am glad that you have decided to join with me - we will be glad to follow you and the cause but as you can appreciate we are so very few and we do not have a place with which to operate.

My plan is this I will take the vessles I have with me and cause a diversion and withdraw the main part of the FRODAN FLEET so that you can take on the remainder of the systems defences and also the planets themselves.

the asteroids have some resources that will allow repairs but ultimately we will need the system

I will also take out the system communicatons so that they cannot send for aid

Cid watched and listened to Lady Hawk's proposal and story, at the end of each sentence he became more and more bemused. Cid was, way back in the day, a key figure in the Shraan Remnants fleet and was the man responsible for 'liberating' many planets from C'raask in the name of the Remnant. However Lady Hawk did have a point, the Shraan Remnant had not made a single move from their territory into the old Shraanian Empire he had discovered. Instead they hid within the Shraanian Sector, defending each and every inch of space around the borders with either powerful mines that could harm even hyperspace-mobile ships or with battalions of fleets and warships.

Cid again remembered his past battles with the C'raask over the Demai homeworld. A memory which his Number One, back then he was the helmsman, would even remember. He suffered huge losses to three C'raask carriers holding a total of three hundred 'converted' Swarm Hive Bombers, a weapon which Shraanians had used for years against them. He remembered the battle as he moved the two destroyers and the two cruisers in fornt of the Liovanda in an attempt to bottleneck the fighters towards a sudden burst from the Liovanda's anti-matter cannon. He remembered the plan failed as the ships simply bombed them out of the way, leaving the Liovanda an open target for a good two hundred Kylithium-Enhanced Cobalt Missiles to hit the Liovanda, shreading it apart within seconds.

He fled with the
Amodyte Cruiser, his first ever ship to command, and remembered what the Shraan Remnant did to him back then. He was an Admiral, but they still turned him into a measily Lt. Commander without letting him explain the reasons for his massive loss. The Liovanda, the last remaining Concordat within the Shraan Remnant...

Cid woke up from his thoughts, pressing a button to close the tactical relay and, in turn, stood up with his half-spilled cup of coffee. He looked down and noticed his cigar had dipped into it during the astonishing proposal by Lady Hawk.


Cid: Well, this is certainly a surprise and no mistake... I hope I speak for all the captains when I say that it was an odd way to test me and my allies, but a just one at least. I indeed do beleive the Shraan Remnant is weakening all the time, hiding away in the Shraan Sectors. However their is a slight flaw to your plan... The Remnant are strong, much stronger than you or I could take on with destroyers, two carriers and a command carrier. We will need reinforcements and support from other sources and, not to mention, if we tackle the Remnant we will leave ourselves weak for the C'raask to make the strike they have always been patiently waiting for.

Cid, hoping Burnham and Flapjack were listening to this conversation as well, picked up the cigar from his pocket and clicked his finger, the cigar end suddenly lighting with flames. It was not much-known that Cid was a half-breed between the Saxolites and the Besilons (the two factions of Shraan, even when it was a planet) and his Saxolite blood gave him a very fiery spirit, in blood and in his fingers. Cid was a psychic, although he could never get his talents past lighting his cigar with a click of the fingers.

Cid: I will join and lead your cause however, I am sure my father never thought I would be bold enough to do what he could not. The Shraanian Cause has faultered, it's time to bring it back. I shall meet you aboard your ship within moments, Admiral, be prepared for my shuttle. End transmission.

Cid watched as Lady Hawk disappeared from the screen and then sat down with a smile.

Cid: But first, lets get things done properly. Get some shuttles to the Asteroid bases with some officers and get that base operating as it should. Gillia?
No1: Aye, sir!
Cid: You are coming with me to the Dragon Wing, needless to say that if Lady Hawk saw a Demai as my second in command she may dig even deeper into her resolve and boost her own moral tenfold. Besides, I need someone I can fully trust to man a Command Carrier bridge whilst I am not their.
No1: It's a task to my liking, sir.

Cid looked up to make sure all communications channels were closed before grinning immensly.

Cid: Open communications to all areas of the ship, I want all crew members to hear this.
Comms: Aye, sir.
Cid: To all personel aboard the Shraanian Remnant Vessel Gripstar... As you know, we have lost all our respect from the Remnant and it's leaders due to faults that were not ours. This time we are not going to strive to gain that respect back. Admiral Lady Hawk of the Shraan Space Navy has given me an offer we cannot refuse, and that is to join her, make me the leader... and then take on the Remnant to form a New Shraanian Empire, as we once were before!

Cid listened to the mixture of bemusements and cheers from within the ship's hull, unsure whether his speech made them feel better or worse.

Cid: We are back in proper Shraan command now, no longer are we freelancing mercinaries bred from the Remnant... We are strong, we are powerful, we are Shraanians! End transmission.
Comm: Trnasmission ended, sir.
No1: A very noble speech sir...
Cid: I hoped as much... Right, lets get to the Dragon Wing then.

Cid and Gillia were about to leave the bridge before he stopped and turned around.

Cid: I know this will sound odd, but let's make a scene shall we? Remember, first impressions count and I do not want to turn up to a Command Carrier with only my Number One as company. Get an SSS comapny onto the shuttle to escort me alongside ten of our remaining fighters. All other fighters are to land and all marines to return to the Gripstar now that those Asteroids are ours.
MC: Aye, sir!
WC: Yes, sir!

And with that Cid left to the shuttle bay to board what would hopefully become his new flagship, one even bigger than the Liovanda.

Burnham: "Captain Killer, congratulations on your newly acquired fleet. My crew and I will be refueling and making repairs to our ships and then we'll be on our way back to Ankaa. It has been... 'an experience' to fight alongside one with your reputation. I wish you good luck on your quest and perhaps our paths will cross again some day. One final word of warning though; in my line of work, you get a feeling of people's intentions despite their words or their actions and I'm telling you to be more cautious of Lady Hawk. She seems to intent on overthrowing the Shraanian government. She may just be using you to get into power herself. Why else would she propose to start a civil war that will cost the lives of thousands of Shraanians and leave your worlds weakend and open to attacks by the Insectids? Why not start your campaign by attacking the Insectids first? With each victory, more people will join your cause and in the end, the Shraanian government will fall by itself, without the need for civil war. I know you don't believe me now, but captain Killer, as your former ally, I am telling you to watch your back. End recording."

Unfortunately on its maiden flight, the Starburst drive malfunctioned, and the observing ships witnessed a massive explosion. For nearly 5 years the systems commonwealth searched for the ship, but all they found were debris from various sections of the ship, and finally the search was called off and the ship listed as lost and the Starburst drive system discontinued.

That is what the history books say.

The Starburst drive actually worked properly, but there was an unforeseen error in the navigation computer that caused the Starburst to force the ship through unknown sector of the universe. The strain of the travel broke several sections of the ship apart, most significantly the port flight pod, causing massive damage to the port side in general. Crippled and wounded, the ship found near an unknown star system in a unknown part of the galaxy.

Using the last of its power, the crew guided the ship towards the star system, where if found a long dead civilization, only bits and pieces of its technology remaining. Salvaging what they could in order to make the most basic of repairs, the crew of the ship attempted to plot a course back home, but were unable to due to not knowing their location.

For several long years they traveled the new galaxy, encountering other races, trading technology in order to assist them in their journey home. Finally they realized what had happened. Somehow the ship when it Starburst traversed TIME as well as SPACE (maybe due to their course taking them through uncharted regions), but by how much the crew couldn’t find out, but now they at least were able to make adjustments to their ships navigation computer and plot a Starburst home.

Making the fateful jump, they now encounter where their civilization used to be a completely brand new and dangerous civilization that no longer remembered them.

    The Starburst drive was designed for long-range exploration. What made it unique was that those onboard for short range journey there was no time lag between entry into Starburst and exit from Starburst, however externally the passage of time remained constant. Only for extraordinary long Starburst jumps would onboard crewmembers notice the passage of time, which was greatly offset from the rest of the universe. The amount of external time it took to travel from point A to point B was also decreased upon, while required less energy than conventional drives.
    This is not time travel by any means, nor is time travel possible using this drive, it is simply the ship and crew transitioning to another dimension where time runs different. This allows ships using the drive to greatly save on the amount of energy and materials and combustibles needed for long journeys, allowing them to go farther than previous ships could without as many resources being onboard.
    With the failure of the NEXI-34562, and the subsequent backlash against the project the Starburst program was discontinued, with the two other prototype ships dismantled. All records of the Starburst drive were lost.
    Configuration wise, the Starburst system required a intricate layer of conductive materials lined on the hull in order to generate the Starburst effect. Only 24.74% of undamaged material is required in order to make a Starburst, however risks of failure with the jump increase significantly.

Defenses Systems:
  • Hull Armor External: Free
    The Starburst drive configuration requires that an intricate layer of conductive material place on the external hull. The material used also had an unintentional side effect, which is being able to partially absorb some types of energy directed against it. Excessive amounts of energy will overload the grid, causing damage however the energy that is absorbed is channeled into ship systems. Several sections, particularly on the port side of the ship have been replaced with a variety of salvaged parts, giving the ship a patchwork appearance. However weak the ship may seem, anyone attacking it typically is surprised by the defensive power.
  • Hull Armor Internal: Free
    The internal hull armor is a network of solid plates, designed to absorb as much damage as possible. The plates are easily replaced when damaged. Underneath the plates is a layer of emergency vacuum foam stored in an inert gas. When exposed to vacuum, the foam expands, creating a very temporary patch, allowing the damaged section to be evacuated and sealed off.
  • Short-Range Flak Defense Grid: 8 Turret Mounts - c65000
    Fires explosives that detonates within 50 meters from the hull, prematurely detonating incoming projectiles and absorbing some energy weapons and preventing fighters from getting close to the hull, both friendly and hostile. Can be activated in sections or total coverage, causing one viewing the ship externally to think it erupted in flames.

Offensive Systems:
  • 1x Milzin Shield-Breaker: 2 Turret Mounts, 6 Additional Mounts - c45000
    The Milzin are a race that refuse to use shields due to technology conflicts, but with the other races out in the universe they run across shielded ships, and adapted. The Shield-Breaker uses 4 energy beams that target the same spot on an enemy ship. They then match energy frequencies with the targeted shield, then pull away, destabilizing and drawing away shield power for a fifth energy beam to fire in the former center. The resulting distortion can typically collapse a decent section of a shield system. The downside is the charge time and the fact that the weapon has to be retuned after every use.
  • 5x Long-Range Flak Interceptor Turrets: 2 Shield Mount, 3 External Mount - c1500
    Fires long-range explosive rounds towards a target, where once the explosive reach a set distance explode, creating a flak field. This is especially dangerous against enemy fighter formations and projectile weapons. Requires that the short-range flak defense grid in the section that the turret is location to be off-line.
  • 3x Long-Tom Cannon: 15 External Mount - c8000
    A massive cannon mounted on a swivel turret, these cannons are used for anti-capital ship purposes. Slow to aim and reload, what they do is launch a solid projectile at a significant portion of the speed of light towards the target.
  • 3x Point Rail-Guns: 4 External Mount, 8 Additional Mount – c5000
    The rail-guns fire hyper-accelerated solid projectiles at a target. The high firing rate and mass of the projectiles makes them ideal for anti-fighter operations, or if an enemy capital ship is close enough, to target specific sections.

Good Morning Commander

Crazy gagged as his cryo chamber hissed open in a cloud of released gasses. He doubled over in a fit of coughing as the support straps snapped open. He sagged onto his knees as the foul tasting gel nutrients that had been pumped into his system to allow his body to survive the rapid unfreezing process. After a fitful minute of coughing, and having spat out a large mouth-full of the foul liquid, Crazy stood. His eyes were watering from the exertion and his face was rather red. He looked up to see the holographic representation of the ship board AI looking disdainfully at him.

“Its not my fault…”
”You could at least wear the cryo suits like the other crew members”

Crazy glanced down at his rather undressed body.

“They’re too tight around the groin. And too much of a hassle to get in and out of. Anyway, I don’t need one.”

Having sorted out that issue Crazy stumbled passed the hologram, as his muscles hadn’t quite got used to working yet and were still protesting. He finally managed to fall to his locker, which he pulled open revealing his very nicely pressed and very smart looking uniform, which had been kept nice and warm by the little radiators in the locker. Crazy quickly got dressed, as the hiss and pop around the room indicated that the other cryo chambers were slowly being opened and the crew getting their rude awakening.

A mere fifteen minutes later, the ship was a buzz with activity as the crew hurried around checking all the ship’s systems and circuits to make sure nothing had rusted away during the transit. Crazy sat in his ready-room, looking through the records, catching up on what had happened while he had been in cryosleep. It had been quite a lot so it seemed. He had some catching up to do, for it seemed his little mark in history had been mostly looked over. Well, that needed sorting out. And quite quickly. But first, the most important thing of all must be taken care off.

“Bridge, this is the Commander. It appears that are entire supply of booze has disappeared. A freak asteroid tore a hole in the cargo bay. Make course adjust to the nearest off-licence, then continue onwards to our final destination.”

Cid bowed to Lady Hawk, but did not make it that low. Instead he turned to Gillia, his Number One, and gave a small shake of his head. The two of them marched in silence until they were seated inside the shuttle.

Cid: Well, we may not be getting this ship after all... however at least we are not fighting it.
No1: The Frodan System will be under the new Shraan Imperial banner soon, sir. From here we can start our revelution.
Cid: I would rather not attack Shraanians, Gillia, however it looks like we have no base to operate from.
No1: Look on the bright side, sir. This specific system is right on the edge of Shraan Space, it is not an important planet to the Remnant and it is not really a historical system. Besides, if Lady Hawk succeeds in taking out the communications then we wont have to worry about a sudden arrival of the Remnant fleets...

Cid sat back in his chair and opened a can of instant-heating Shraanian coffee, sipping it slowly. He had taken a few of them from the Dragon's Wing whilst they were there.

Cid: Okay, we need to formulate a plan for when the distraction is made. Frodan's home planet is, obviously, Frodan III. When the Lady Hawk distracts the Frodan Fleet to a safe distance away, we make our move in to take the starbase out quickly and with as few casualties as possible, mainly because the less deaths, the more we can recruit.
No1: We cannot do that with the ships we have, sir, even with the fleet gone.
Cid: That is why I am going to call for support and a history lesson. You remember the other crew that survived Demai Kank that couldn't board the Gripstar?
No1: A little hard to forget them, sir.
Cid: Well, I left them with a small ship to help them find and recover a ship hull from an asteroid feild not far from our location. They found the ship, took it to Ankaa about the same time we left the system. I have confirmation now that the rest of the crew from the old Liovanda and the Amodyte are on their way to the Frodan System as we speak.
No1: What type of ship, sir?
Cid: A heavily-modified and fully functional Hope-Class Attack Destroyer.

Cid watched as his Number One's jaw dropped slowly.

No1: But... they're almost...
Cid: A thousand or so year old, yes. From my studies of the old Shraan Empire I have read about the legendary Hope-Class vessels. The Empire used them as general defence for other vessels such as corvettes, frigates, cruisers and such-like. Designed to take on ships ranging from Corvettes to Cruisers. However, since a lot has changed over time, we had to modify the ship so that it was not so... out-dated. The chassis was about the only thing recoverable, if I remember rightly, although it did cost us quite a bit to recover it and reform it.

You look at the ship on the screen some 10 light seconds away and ponder - THIS SHIP HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE - what are its capabilities and such????

Comms - message sent to the UNKNOWN ship sir

TO - we should have time to take the space station sir - if the runabouts are drones my guess is that the space station is on automatic and is unmanned

"redgrave, you suggest taking the station, but to my knowledge, this ship outthere outgunned us, and we outgun the station, so what would be the point of taking the station?" (pausing a bit) "all we d manage to do if we do , is stranding personel there , possibly having the cruiser blow it up" he continued... "but i ll take your advice on consideration.. as it may be useful somehow... also recall all fighters.. it s pointless to have them fly after immobile targets..

"green.. i want to know where the nearest star.. though knowing that the ennemy ship has send a de^p space transmission only mean they got reinforcement. so get me that star asap, then scan the area of the direct transmission, and tell me if any other mission were sent to those part, other allies may be targetted here.. also.. when you ll have complete those task, i want a deep scan of that cruiser sitting there..."

a few minute later.. a woman in her mid 30 walk through the door leading to the bridge, her bright and shiny personal armor , her pulse phaser rifle set on her left shoulder, and her dark eyes cold as space were all tribute to the experienced commander.. "major Dangerfield reporting.. you ask for me?"

"indeed i have Major. I may have a task for you.. though the odds are good.. survival rate may proove risky at best" said Armstrong. My first officer think we could take the station.. though there s an identified cruiser nearby, more powerful than the Black Dagger. i will ask Green to work on the code of the station to disable it, if you agree to board it. but be aware that if you do, and the unidentify cruiser attack, you as well as i , may have little chance of escaping."

"only risky sir?" replied dangerfield.. "i m use to no win situation, sir and i live by my name also, as i perform best under pressure, sir. that s why my troops are onboard anyway, if i m correct, sir" replied Dangerfield. Of all thing , Dangerfield was truly living by her name, having lead 5 mission consider suicidal with little casualty, she was very effective.. using every dirty tricks in the book and when that was not enough creating new ones as needed. her troop were nicknaming her Deathwatch, as she often perform highly surgical strike on ennemy position almost to the second timing... indeed , there was little she feared. "we ll take the station when you ll order it , i ll put out the word to gear up"

I shall try to provide you, major, with 2 runabout.. and we ll transport the rest of the troop ourself to the station. Have your troop help in repairs and healing the wounded till then.

a) build the ssd device (ship signature device) make to simulate power, and warp and size of the Black Dagger on enneny sensor.

4)send a message to the throth to move behind us 1 lightsecond away, with order to return to aanka if the unidentify cruiser move to engage.
5) message the unidentified cruiser requesting to stand down and state their intentions.
6)Have the SO scan for the nearest star system, scan the ennemy ship deeply, scan the area where the deep space signal was sent, scan the arrea for cloaked or incoming ships.
7)have the marine help in the repair and taking care of the wounded. the dead are to be put in hold casing till funeral can be performed.
8)Have SO and TO worked on disabling the station, to allow marine boarding.
9)keep recharging all weapons (2nd post)
10)once the runabout are all (4 remaining)retrieve, move toward the station.

The starlance is a relatively new ship, her captain also so. New to the mercanary buisness, this inexpericened crew is out to make their own part in the galaxy. Dras first took command of the ship on her maiden voyage, when she was acting as a bodyguard to a diplomatic vessel. As with all of the Stalance's missions to date, it turned out to be a very uneventfull one. The experiences of the ships crew on these missions has obviously no improved their battle skills, and it still remains to be seen if they will prove any good in a fight at all.
Dras is a kindly sort, as are most of his crew. Their nieveity only adds to their inexperience and they will more than likely soon come to have to face that. They know little of the darker sides of life and so it will be a terrible shock for them when they descover them.

"Very nearly sir, just loading the last of the fuel supplies."
"Good, well..."
"Captain?"
"Never mind, just reminiscing."
"Oh, ok then, the last of the fuel is coming aboard, the field hospital company is arguing over whoes in charge, the AMD's..."

As the commanding officer went on with his reports Dras' mind began to wander. If only he'd had two more minutes, he would have saved him, his little brother that is. He'd lost him in a weapons malfunction whilst the infantry companies were training. A weapon's saftey lock malfunctioned and his brother took a shot to the chest. Very messy. Only another two minutes and he could have been there, he couldn't help blaming himself. They'd never been seperated, not since school, and the new commanding officer wasn't really an improvement. Everything seemed so much duller.

"Sorry could you repeat that?"

Dras grinned as he saw that infurated look on his XO's face once again. It might not be a good idea, annoying him, but he would make that guy understand humour, if it took him his lifetime, well, mayby not quite that long.
