The Cleansing

The war is almost over, the civil war that has kept brother from brother and friend from friend has entered it's final year. The days when nobility kept the peasants down are over. The commoners joined with the king and crushed the lords of Hynsolge. Now, only a few of them are still standing, fiercly resisting any attempt to be quelled.

You fought in the war as mercenaries of some sort, maybe you fought along with your comrades vielding a sword, or maybe you were constructing siege equipment. You fought on the side of the rebellion, in the "New army of the king", the revolutionary army wich has won the war.

Some of you might remember this thread from a couple of years back, most of you won't. However I hope it will be just as fun, this time around.

This will be a heavily DMed thread, with little magic. Magic is looked upon with great suspicion, and withces and mages are normally put to death by angry mobs.
You can play any race or class, tough I strongly recommend you to try and look/act "normal", however, in the wake of this civil war most people are a bit...strange.

The plot will focus upon the Archmage Vicotnik who is determined of cleansing the world of all evil (elves, dwarves, magicusers, halfbloods etc. It will be more of a "find the truth and save the world" than "hack the enmy to pieces".

Sign up if you feel attracted to the idea!

Re: The Cleansing

think I was in this thread a few years back, as a meduson called Shiv'Tass, right? we were all overpowered dudes

name: Jacob. just Jacob.
race: Human
Age: 30
History: used to be a farmer, in the outbacks. Due to constant treat from thieving bands, he was trained in fighting from an early age, and is fairly proficient with the broadsword and bow. He joined the king's army and fought well in the war, making somewhat of a name for himself. His training was deepened while in the service of his liege

Re: The Cleansing

Name: Älhjögg
Race: Kar
Age: 134
Height: 6'5''
Weight: 160 lbs

Race: Kars are tall and handsome, looking like humans but equipped with only eight fingers and toes (maybe only four like the desc said, but that seems unlikely).

Desc: This tall man has long brown hair, soft bright brown eyes and a pleasing face. He is clad in a breastplate along with leather guards, wielding a round shield, a tulwar (heavy scimitar) and a javelin.

History: He came from the islands of Onae, looking for the life on the road. But in the savage realm of Ereb Altor, he soon was forced to take up the sword to defend himself. He ended up in Hynsolge when he was just 60 and has spent his time there ever since, finding the kingdom pleasing and a good place for one such as he.

Unfortunately, there is no translation.
The two important things are the map (below) and the races, There are many races, including all the standard varieties and a number of custum ones. If you don't want to play a standard race, just describe something loosely, and I'll see if there is anything like it. I'll give you a description of it.

http://hem.passagen.se/nimin/ovrigt/storereb.gif

Edit: Okay; so Passagen doesn't allow links to specific files. Here's what you do: Click the link in Ärketrollmannen's post. Among the lines of text you'll find a link callled "karta". Click it. A map comes up. Click it and a larger map comes up. The two important nations are a bit to the east and south of the center of it.

I'd like to join, but I'm not really sure I can create a decent character without the background information. Is it drawn from some kind of book series that I could Google for information in English with?

No, this is Drakar och Demoner: The world's first role-playing game and who's licence was turned into the American D&D..... you know, FYI.

Since it is Swedish, it's hard getting any information about it in English; there's not even much in Swedish on the Internet.

Ärketrollmannen knows more about this than I do, however.

Re: The Cleansing

Well it does interest me somewhat, but I would rather not create a character without correct information first. As there seems to be little chance of finding much in either case, I will have to pass on this thread for now, unless I can find somthing at some point. I will do a few searches but so far results have not been succesful.

Re: The Cleansing

I figured out that "Karta" means "map". Like "Kart" in German

The fact that there was a little globe next to the heading had nothing to do with it whatsoever.

Re: The Cleansing

OK, I don't know about the races on that page I just googled for a map over the world of Ereb Altor wich is a kickass setting . You can be whatever race you feel like. Just as long as we can roleplay it, I remember hewitt playing as a dragon

As for the map, just do what Dunim tells you . I screwed the link up somehow (or the webhost did). Klick the link, then press the button that says "karta" (map), it has a globe just next to it.

Zappa Welcome back. You did play as that snakethingy, i loved it (to be honest it was a pain in the ass, but it was really interesting adn i LEARNT to love it )

During your time in the army you have made many friends, tough most of them has ended up dead on some nameless battlefield. You have however advanced to the position of underofficer, commanding a group of twelve when in combat. You have grown a bitter hate for the upper classes (the royal family obviously excepted).

Dunim I have no idea what a Kar is . They are whoever totally fine, as the mercenary troop consist of anything that can wield a weapon.
You have lived a long life in Hynsolge, and grown to love the countryside and the inhabitants, it was easy to decide wich side to fight on when the bickering turned to hostilities. Ten years after the outbreak of war you have come out on top, being förstekarl, or champion. You are pretty wellknow, even outside of Hynsolge, for your remarkable stunts. You have also collected a nice set of scars.

Dachi I'm not sure if you remember, but you used to play in this thread a couple of years back. You used a charachter, posessed by a deamon, why don't you bring him back?

Darkling We need YOU. I need you!. What kind of information would you like?

Fluffie You sure are correct, you rocked the thread, welcome back?

Re: The Cleansing

Well mostly at this point information about the races, as I have a rough idea of class I want to be. Though it may not exist in the system taht does not mater. But i need to know what the more agile races are to create it. Also on that note, with magic being discouraged as it is but will you allow a character who can channel specific elements through objects?

An example being channeling the elemnt of Ice through a hammer cuasing it to freeze as well as smash. Following is a rough direction my charcter is possible taking.

Possible Name - to be decided
Possible Race - Need info
Possible Class - Sword Dancer
Possible Weapon - Light Double Bladed Sword (Family heirloom)
Possible Magic - Element Channeling, the ability to channel one of the elements into the blades of the sword. e.g. Earth hardening the blades and causing them to develop a crusted blunt edge for crushing damage. Fire causing extra damage to exposed flesh, etc.

Though due to the discriminations of magic these will not be often used, and a sword dancer being an agile barly armoured quick strike fighter. relying on speed, agility and dexterity to avoid being hit and to cause as much damage in as short as time possible. Thats the idea I am toying with right now though if this does not fit in all that well into the story or thread then it can be easily changed. Right now this is prelimary brainstorming as I need to add limitations and weaknesses before they are balanced and not over powered.

I think i'm going to join but i just spent all my time since i got home from work on getting Shattering of Gems started. so I'll see about a character tommorrow Possibly our Serene and Arawn characters with modifications or something. I'll have to think. Would a pixie or sprite be possible? Not sure if i want that but I'm just curious.

Re: The Cleansing

Ärke: Check the link in the bottom that reads "Raser". There you'll find a crapload of races to choose from. And also, you'll find more info about Kars.

For Darklings sake, I'll list the races with a short translation of their descs:
(I mention both Chronopia and Ereb Altor. These are two different setting, though I don't think it matters that much.)

The Seven Elf Houses of Chronopia: These urban elves live in the world's largest city: Chronopia. The following houses are:
Aramas: These elves are passionate and adventurous, living like there was no tomorrow.
Belisarius: These elves carry on the skald traditions: Prose, theater, song and oratory.
Degas: Debauched, erotic and lustful.
Koth: The Spider-Elves, this evil house is the center of a spider culture where the elv mothers suckle the teets of a giant spider during their pregnancy. Their eyes are black.
Lysander: Wild, impatient and financial, these elves run casinos and arenas.
Ventura: They love two things: Knowledge and money. Their skin is tan.
Cerias: Warriors! Strong and fit, they believe only in the struggle of survival through the sword.

Duck: Squat, humanoid animal.
Begon: 3 meter tall humanoids with pointy ears and greenish tint to their skin. They come from swamps and are very intelligent.
Bjornman: Bear men. Cold resistant.
Dwarf-elf: Just what it sounds like.
Elykt: Human freaks: Great magicians.
Emling: Thin and tall (2 meters+) with hair all over theis bodies, except for their heads. Good with animals.
Fallohid: A scarce race of hobbits: They like the woods and dislike the dwarves.
Fasche: A wretched human race, living like beggars and scavengers in human cities. Their faces are made of thorny bone, making them hideous.
River elf: Powerful build, bright hair. They hate humans and live reclusively along rivers.
Frost elf: Elves gone eskimo. You get the picture.
Fyril: Bluish elves descended from gods. They dislike the lower races (read: everyone else).
Gnomes: You know that they are, but these have no body hair what so ever. Their skulls are as hard as steel.
Grey elf: Sea faring elves with grey skin.
Cave elf: Powerfully built elves living under the mountains. They are good at making jewelry.
Gyld: Short, powerful humans with no hair but strong golden skin.
Half-orc: You need an explaination?
Harefoot: Hobbit. Ever seen Lord of the Rings? Yeah, that's them.
High elf: Malignant elves, good at magic. Tall and fit, olive skin.
Highman: Humans. Tall, strong with thin hairgrowth. Can take cold like nothing else.
Kar: Human like, but tall, handsome and sporting eight fingers and toes. From the islands of Onae.
Karkion: Short huma like with panther heads and great bat wings. Wanderers.
Catman: Short furries.
Centaur: Yup, those are the ones.
Krakit: Short, slender but tough. It was hard getting much else from the desc.
Kriar: Short falcon men: Falcon head, talons and feather, along with a pair of big wings on their backs. They are fierce barbarians.
Kroll: Mix between orcs and goblins. Gray skin. Sly and clever, they live in the forests.
Light elf: Your run in the mill elves. Still, like all elves, they are immortal. Pale skin, bright hair. Good with bows I hear.
Lor: Humans turned tree huggers. Forest people.
Malignar: Tall and pale, dark hair and black eyes. They are fascinated by death. Necromancers.
Dark dwarf: Dark hair, red eyes, pale skin. They worship demons.
Mulvak: Small humanoid lizard. Strong and fearless. Each is bound to a master.
Night elf: Gray skinned and haired, or dark haired. Good assassins. Can smell other elves.
Neroving: Hairy, troll like creatures. They live far beneath the surface. Shorter than trolls, but wider.
Demihuman: There's plenty of them, humanesque creatures without a specific race. Tieflings, aasimar and such stuff.
Brownie: Deeply tanned, gnome like creature. Weak but fast. Are equipped with sneeze powder and itch powder.
Ratman: Humanoid.... rats!
Sabran: Arabs. Always truthful.
Shintian: Apemen.
Silver elf: Winged elves. Lack of great stamina forces them to breed herds of pegasi.
Wood elf: Those swarthy tree loving elves.
Stoor: Hobbits. Almost as numerous as harefeet. Fishermen.
Uiel: Squat swamp people. Big hands and feet. Adept magicians and thieves.
Wolf-rider: Short humanoids covered in fur. They ride bunnies..... or maybe that's wolves?
Sea elf: Sea farers, like the grey elves, but not as rough. They are polite and pleasant, and everybody likes them.
Cave troll: Big, ugly, hard to kill. Grey-green skin with warts. Sunlight turns them into stone.
Arivad: Forest people. Cow legs, ape torsos and bird heads. They're deep green and their skin is thick.
Swamp elf: Cocky and bearing an attitude. Their faces are covered with rashes from insect bites but even without hose they're still pretty ugly.
Morp: Extremely tall and thin, like their faces. Long arms, grey skin. Usually calm, unless you really piss them off.
Argar: Vikings. Tall, blonde and bearded.
Swamp troll: Bigger than forest trolls, large hands with claws. Good swimmers with long hair. Sunlight turns them into stone.
Goblin: Short green humanoids, glowing eyes.
Kender: Ever read Dragonlance?
Charib: Caribbeans: Black, voodoo people. Except, these are cannibals.
Green elf: Like wood elves, only these've got blond hair.
Stone troll: 3 meter tall trolls covered in stone. Stupid but strongest of all trolls. Sunlight turns them into stone..... um, more than they already are, that is.
Drow elf: Yes, unfortunately, these do exist in Ereb Altor. They live far to the south and almost no one has ever heard of them. Few in numbers.
Adrian: Humans. Pale, white hair or black hair. Fit and agile. They have great psyches and a great nation. Yes, these are poorly based off of Chinese.
Dark elf: Half orc, half elf. Smart and fit, these elves are not immortal. Good warriors.
Ice elf: Ugly barbaric elves of the tundras.

In addition, there is also humans, orcs and dwarves.

Re: The Cleansing

ok, well im joining and i will finish this thing off sometime tomorrow if my connection holds

name: Sajjuk (pronounced with a distinct slurring of the Js and the U like oo in book)
race: Night elf
age: 2476
height: 6'2"
wheight: 150 lbs
descrip: Sajjuk is a fairly average night elf, though rather a bit taller than most of his kin. his hair is a rich silver that is well kept at mid neck length and appears to have a history of being well taken care of. his face is gaunt and can only just be described as looking brooding. however this effect is produced by his steely pale blue eyes that under normal curcumstances are cold, thoughtfull, and dispasionate, but can become filled with mirth, completely transforming his face. he is rather thin and wiry, which leads most who meet him to think that he has little physical strength, and this to a good extent is true. he certainly does not have any brute strength, but instead relys on the uncanny sealth that comes so naturally to him, along with great speed and the tendancy to turn any handy object into a weapon. real weapons are not readily found on his person but small things like daggers are always about, large weapons like swords or even bows almost never come in contact with his hands and he takes more than a little pride in that fact.
history: Sajjuk has a fairly obscure past, despite his fairly high berth he has lived on the fringes of general society for some time and as such tends to be well overlooked. he is the renegade of his family, the one who has found himself wanting more than what high society has to offer. he left home several centuries ago, and his parents, knowing his strange ability to dissapear made little effort to find him. he sends letters and notes home sometimes, and in those lie the only real record of his movements. out of both necessity and a general curiosity Sajjuk has learned a good bit about a large number of trades. he uses his aquired skills to earn money sometimes but as often as not resorts to lifting peoples purses, and by way of being able to put on a natural air of nobility, he has made considerable profit. Sajjuk is still what many would call a wanderer still meandering the world in search of... something. he has found himself on ereb altor and is finding its cities rather to his profit and amusment, as he finds it rather easy to create mischeif and keep himself out of trouble.

Re: The Cleansing

Using the information on the races shown what follows is the completed profile.

Name - Volthar the Swift (Performing Name)
Race - High Elf part of House Belisarious
Class - Freelance Sword Dancer (A perfomring art turned combat style in the wake of the war, needs room to act on though is capable of taking on three oponents at a time in good conditions.)
Weapon(s) - Light Double Bladed Sword (Family Blade marked with small writtings down each blade on both sides)
Magic - Element Enchantment (Rarly used)
Other Skills - Can play a flute, and familiar with some bardic lore.

History -
Coming from a large family of perfomring Sword Dancers, dancers, singers and musicians. Situated in the capital the family theatre is not large but not that small either, in the outbrake of the war Volthar along with one of his brother and two of his sisters conspired to persuade their parents to let them expand their talents out into the world. It worked though persuading two bardic parents of the want for adventure was not a hard task. Setting out on his own supplies and money in hand, beliving that this was all going to be one big new adventure.

Working his way from the heart of the nation to the front line battles became a somber reminder, though he has yet to let it dis-hearten his want to see and learn more. Surviving easily enough putting on shows for troops in exchange for food and rest for a few days, before moving on and continuing onto the next brigade of soldiers. Days stared to become weeks, slwoly turning into months, though he refused to stay any longer than a few months with any one group preffering not to build up to much of an attachment to the various people he has met along the way.

The war is nearing its end, it hangs in the air like some mocking stench of victory always bestowing you only with a few seconds of bliss. Its been a victory with heavy ransom to pay, entire generations slaughtered, acts of depravity and of great valour all thrown into a single pot to boil niether reconisable anymore. Volthar through all this has held up his optamism, depsite only coming across one of his sisters entertaining a band of aged veteran farmers turned soldiers. Their combined act seemed to lighten the mood for a while after at least, before they moved on again.

Re: The Cleansing

hmm, now that I have some race info.

name: Nibimacarion
race: Silver elf
class: archer/mounted archer (the extra option of flying being very usefull for an archer, I always have the high ground :P)
weapons: An elven composite bow, about as high as Nibimacarion's body, these bows have great range and accuracy, but are hard to use.
Elven short sword, Nibimacarion's back-up weapon, because bungling about with a composite bow while the enemy tries to chop you to pieces is not the way to go
Abilities: Decently good with animals, can fly, can ride other flying creatures, can use his weapons
history: Coming up

I'll do that again, if allowed.

I can make up a more detailed character if you want. But this leaves me open for any Plot Devices you might need. Or anything else you want this character to endure. It'll be all cool

But if you need a 'decent character', tell me, eh?

I don't remember that character. Can you recall any other details about him? This must have been a while ago...

Re: The Cleansing

AllThe races are the same as in all stereotype fantasy thingies, but with a HUGE human population. 95% of the population in this world are humans, the rest are elves and dwarves etc. This world is the world that I used to play in when I played Pen and Paper RPG. The races on that page are not all the races, and you shouldn't take it all that seriously, if you want to bend them slightly, then what is stopping you?
A BIG thankyou to Dunim who translated them, I owe you one (huge) favour.

Some info about Hynsolge.

Hynsolge was a densely populated country, with a poor population (noblemen excepted obviously). It is a country similar to England or France in the 1100's, feudal monarchy. The war has plunged it even deeper into poverty and a huge chunk of the population has died or been forced to leave their homes. Now it is almost over and happier times await.

Some info about Nidland, the country just east of Hynsolge.

Nidland is totally secluded from the outside world. Apart from natural obstacles (mountains mostly), the Archmage Vicotnik has erected a wall, so long, it reaches around almost the entire country. The people all love their leader, and are fiercly loyal to him.

Mad Cat Welcome to the thread! I am awaiting the rest

Darkling That is great. Your family is one of the few families of elves living in Hynsolge, and is looked upon with respect and love.

Flapjack Thats the spirit Welcome aboard!

Fluffie That would be great. I am already writing a mental story

No Dachi This was before i was mad a mod!

I think you were fighting for the "other side" in the civil war, your deamon gave you strange powers when you were weakened by something (physical pain, being upset over something). You were about to start a duel with another char when you ditched the thread

Hewitt Sure. Lets give the world a bit of a shake

Re: The Cleansing

I'll be in the mountains on the Hynsolge - Nidland border, working as a courier of messages between the 2 countries (after all, they do have some diplomacy and such, right? A flying person would be perfect for that with all those mountains sitting in the way)

Oh well, won't happen this time. Thanks for the reminders, I have enough to work with now...

Name: Sir Clyde of Nordkust* (alias "No Dachi")
Race: Human, Nidland native
Age: 24

Description Medium-tall height, reasonably slim and well-muscled, dark hair and brown eyes. Rarely seen without his armour, and when without he will generally wear unbecoming garments of the kind a mildly successful merchant might wear. There is a disfiguring scar running down his left cheek, which never really healed over. It retains the appearance of being infected somehow, though if it were, Clyde would be long-since dead. For this reason he wears his helmet wherever possible.

History/Information: As a minor noble of the fishing village of Nortkust*, Sir Clyde fought as a knight of the Nobles in the Civil War. After the army that he was part of was smashed by the King's Revolution several years ago, Sir Clyde managed to escape capture (and likely subsequent execution). Although he had ruled his manour fairly and benevolently, taking little in taxation and lending his intellgience to matters of business, Sir Clyde found himself nonetheless deprived of his feudal feif by the armies of the Revolution, his lands confiscated. Unable to return for fear of capture, Sir Clyde lay low for a few months before wondering the countryside looking for a calling, his armour long since removed of any tell-tale heraldry that would mark him as one of noble birth. He retains a desire to return to his people - as a noble educated by nobles who knew their duty, he believes it his responsibility as feudal lord to protect the less fortunate.

There were a few months more recently where none of his few contacts (mostly mercenaries or innkeepers) saw him at all, after he claimed a quest to some rumoured long-ruined temple in the caverns beneath the mountains to the west. Once he returned again, he had the scar across his cheek, and no recollection of the expedition at all. Rumour would have it that Sir Clyde stumbled across some ancient evil in the forgotten vaults, and that the evil then possessed him through a cut in his cheek - the cut whose scar still shows clear today. No change has yet been noted, however, to the knight;s behavior, and most who speak with him quickly push the rumours toward the back of their minds. A few dark stories of the man possessed by some inhuman strength in combat out in the wilderness do persist, though...

--------------
*To invent a fictional fishing village, I stitched two German words together (except I deliberately spelt "coast" wrong) in the hope that the sound of the name would be appropriate. If indeed it isn't, chasten this fool child.

And a deadly weapon it was too. I don't think there'd be much objection to you just making one of those lizard things with an obsidian hand axe, though obviously I'm not exactly in the position to give permission etc etc

Re: The Cleansing

Flapjack No diplomacy whatsoever. All trade is taking place on floating platforms outside of the coast. Nidland is completly cut of, noone is allowed in or out. If you see a "nidlänning" (man from nidland) then you point and stare. You could however work as a messenger to some other country. Or just as the messenger of this particular mercenary company.

mrmao Don't play as that race if you don't want to be bound to another of the players (that might be fun actually). Just pick lizardman if you want to play as that, invent your own race.

About the aztek-tech. Well most countries in this game are on a sub-medieval techlevel. Stoneweapons are nowere near gone. Loads of people use them. And obsidian rocks

I'll start this thread as soon as one more person is ready.

Re: The Cleansing

Name: Deven Hueven
Species:Lederfall, a subspecies of lizardmen, the are only four feet tall, and are considerably quick and agile. They hail from a jungle river basin, and as such are excellent swimers. They have been know to brag they do not need ships, but no one knows the truth to this claim. Because of there size and lesser strength they prefer to fight in losse formations, and ambush eniemes. The Lederfall are desired paticulary in armies as scouts and skirmishers.

History: Served as a scout in the civil war, survived with little fan fair. Discharged after the war and currently wanders Hynsolge.

Equitment: 16in Manaca, 2x 32in, poisened javelins, a shield 12in across.

Re: The Cleansing

oh well, legal and less then legal trade then, after all, I'm pretty sure there's items that are wanted in 1 country, but not availble there that are availble in 1 of the other nearby countries.

Oh and how would the 2 countries interact with use flying elves in the peaks of those mountains? I assume they wouldn't be bothered much by us claiming that ground (there aren't a lot of humans who could/would want to live up there anyways) But how do they react to us coming in, the same way they'd react to other outsiders, or somehow differently because we've always been there?

I have a half finished history here, but unfortunately there's still some gaps that need filling

Re: The Cleansing

OK then, I'll start this now, any additions to your chars can be done at any time, just post that you have edited your descriptions.

You will be scattered about for a bit, tough most of you will be in this place:

Zappa (Jacob), Dunim (Älhjögg), Mad Cat (Sajjuk), Darkling (Voltar), Dragonsjem (little thingy) mrmao (Deven)

The conflict is far from over, but open war is now concetrated on a few walled cities, and the only thing left is to starve them out. So you have been fired. You didn't serve in the same company and you didn't hold the same rank but you are all gathered for the farewell-party. In the giant hall there are men and monsters, elves and humans. It might indeed be the most curious collection of humanoids in all of Ereb Altor, you have happened to be placed in at the same table, along with various of your coleagues. The atmosphere is nice with two big fireplaces, and food and drink coming in on a regular basis. At the end of one of the long tables sits general Vidar, originating from the country of Kardien to the far west. His huge person is the focus on of everyone as he raises his cup:

-Fellow men of arms. There are happy days, and sad days. The war might be over, but so is our pay. Before we are separated in search of other work I just want to show my apretiation, you have all fought well, and with honour, making this victory a moment of joy. So I ask you to raise your cups and glasses and drink with me, for the welfare of this country, and the hope for new wars, somewere else!

Everyone cheers and drinks. The general is a popular man.

The drinking continues.

Voltar A Felician archer leans over the table towards you

-Why don't you and your sister do a little dance for us? We would all love it!

Jacob, Älhjögg, Sajjuk, Deven

-So what are you going to do now then?

The question comes from an extremly drunk Krun mercenary.

-My country has been haunted by the plague for years now, maybe, if I had the help of just a few people like you, we could....rearrange some power there?

Dachi I am not sure were to start you of, were do you want to start?
(btw, I think you meant native of Hynsolge in your pres, when you wrote that your land was confiscated during the war, since the civil war took place in Hynsolge.)

Hewitt Unconsciousness slowly gives way to stinging awareness. Your sleep has been long, very long, but not as restfull as you would have wanted it to be. As you inhale, all kinds of scents reaches your nostrils. The stench, unbearable to most, of a dragons den is the first thing that you notice. It smells like home. It is a mixture of sulphur, death, and the metallic smell of gold, that is, huge amounts of gold.

As you open one eye up, you take the whole den in. Everything seems untouched, even the bones at the entrance, reminders of long gone meals. Evenso, you are troubled, there is something wrong, wrong with the world and you can't really pinpoint it.

Fluffie Suddenly air fills your lungs. It is a pain like one you have never felt before, it is the pain of being alive.

Oxygen rushes into your blood and something starts moving in your chest, something...starts pounding, before you can figure out what it is there is a new sensation, light. It burns at your eyes as the lid covering your coffin is removed, simultaneous to the light is the sound. The sound of your scream, the roar of pain that fills the catacomb. There are other sounds, but they are not important.
You are alive!

Flapjack Ok, this might be very interesting

You are a lone postman. You are the one who is taking the chances, you are the one who, about once each month cross the border, you might jsut be the foreigner who has seen the most of Nidland. On each passing you are weighed down by the packing you bring. Each passing to Nidland you are carrying things from the outside world, things they are not accustomed, you bring tobaco and cocobeans, you bring the roots you might chew to make you endure more, you bring the roots you grind to be able to last longer...when playing in bed, and most of all, you bring books, because in Nidland, not many books are allowed.
When returning you are heavily loaded with spices and craftmanship, making each jorney a huge win. You are now somewhat rich, and you are unsure of, if you should keep on doing this.

These are the thoughts that are going through your mind when attaching the pack to your shoulders, and letting it hand down your front, you adjust it a bit.

-Good luck my friend.

Next to you is your one-eyed friend and colleauge, he is the one who gathers the goods, this side of the border. His missing eye is an eternal reminder that there are severe punishment to smugglers.

-Come back in one piece ey!

He steps back as you are ready to start.

Re: The Cleansing

Älhjögg sits staring into his empty mug, thoughts drifting off to his home land. This place seems pretty set, the war will soon be over and the ruling body should soon have it all under control. There isn't much left for him to do, really. Except to retire to his house and continue his life as a fisherman.

But, there is home. Traveling up the rivers, walking along the fenced gardens and drinking té together with people you've just met, simply for the sheer pleasure of company.

He is suddenly pulled back to the present as the man speaks to the group. He looks around at the others; not a group he would have willingly joined up with in any other situation. Turning to the man he asks: "And what country would that be?"

Doh, quite correct, did mean Hynsolge. I'll opt for just entering some minor village in the Hynsolge countryside. Hope that's a satisfactory selection.

alive...

This whole sensation he was undergoing, it was being awakened, it was being alive. That much he at least knew.

His body had just been awoken from a slumber, alongside with his conciousness. How long had he been in this state? He didn’t know and he didn’t seem to care much either, for all he could do now was experience his body and the things it felt, saw and heard to the fullest and scream out as he did.

alive... again...

The air going in and out of his lungs, the oxygen from it being pumped around his entire body by his now again beating heart. To hear sound, the burning feeling of light in his eyes.

Pain.

Was he experiencing pain?

Who was he?

Slowly but surely, Fluffie [just a name to RP with for the moment, ‘inthread’ name still unknown (at least to me) at the moment] tried to look around and understand his surroundings, his situation...

Letting his mind wander as the celebrations carry on, a few of more eager groups already passed out from intoxication. The whole scene reminding him of the parties held by his family before the outbreak of the war, the descion to leave home wa sone he would never forget. Though at times he found himself yearning for some of the comforts of home. A voice breaking him from his rather drab recollections, smilling with a beaming grim, covering any such feelings though hastly.
"A grand idea you have there, perhaps I should seek her out, it has been so long since I have performed in a hall of any sorts. The battlefield does have a way of hiding the more joyous pleasures in life, ones art never seems so vibrant in roughly made camps."
Checking to see that his blade was close by, it rarly left his side, such an importance it held to him.

Re: The Cleansing

Sajjuk looks carefully at the drunken man who had asked the question. he does not answer immediately, having shifted his gaze to look into his half empty mug with a look of mixed amusement and disgust. he was not nearly as openly celebratory over what was being proclaimed a complete victory, having a less emotionally based assesment of what news he heard. mop-up can be as long and as hard, if not more so at times, than the full scale war.

i think, my friend i speak for everyone when i say that we are thinking of home, and returning to it...

a flicker of a frown crosses Sajjuk's face, and he looks back down to his mug speaking quietly to himself

yet, how can you pick up the threads of an old life, when in your heart you know that you cannot go back to what you were. when you yourself are a different person for your experience. how will we return to the ways we so cherish...?

Sajjuk returns his gaze to the other mercenary

but i also think, that there will still be employment available for us. we are mercenaries, and many are here solely for the money, not for any moral or political cause. some of our number will join the enemy. as the enemy, cornered as it is, is not a beaten one, some will deduce that it is likey to pay whatever is demanded and they will convince others to go with them. those men may break the seiges on one or more of the remaining strongholds, possibly allowing them to make a renued assault. and if that happens i can assure you we will be wanted again. so it seems wise to wait, and see what happens.

Re: The Cleansing

*Flapjack carefully checked the straps, he'd almost lost a load a few months earlier when he went off during a storm, having decided that it wasn't so bad and it hadn't been the first time he'd flown in a storm. Ofcourse if you're flying in a storm, you're halfway to your destination, some 3000 feet above sea level and 1 of the straps on your backpack decides to give up on you, well, that doesn't need explaining. After making sure they where secure, he looked back at his old friend, it had been at least 6 years now and they'd never been caught smuggling. Flapjack did remember the time 1 of the old outposts near his route, just outside of the mountain chains, had been manned, he'd never seen humans shoot that high*

"Don't worry, it promises to be a rainy day so visibility outside the mountains will be poor, not to mention the village I intend to visit hardly ever has troops. I'll be back before nightfall."

*With that Nibimacarion spread his wings to their full span and started off on a run, carefully not to push off to early, Nibimacarion jumped off the roof, falling for almost 2 feet as he picked speed up and then flapping his wings with all his might, the sight he reconned would be a great 1 to see as with a single flap he rose 4 feet, climbing well above his small house, which in its turn was built on a cliff wall to allow for easier take-offs and landings, the flight would probably be uneventfull and it would be light before he got to the first mountains*

*About 30 minutes later the sun peeked over the horizon, brightly illumating the mountain chain in front Nibimacarion as he flew into it, he was already soaring up high and there where only a few mountains high enough for him to have to account for them, but the clouds where packing up rapidly and smoke rose from 1 of the Hynsolge border posts below him, the place was a tiny speck even with his keen vision and Nibimacarion was confident he would not be seen from the ground, he picked up more speed as he entered the mountains, the high altitude airflow was almost always west-east and made his trip to Nidland an easy 1*

Re: The Cleansing

Okay, here's most of it. hope it's okay:

Name - Vea Timb
Race - Brownie
Sex:-Female
Height- 7 inches
Weight- 2 pounds

Appearance: Greenish brown hair, green eyes, wears a colorful dress of flower petals and leaves a few scraps of cloth hidden beneath a plain dark green cloak.

Class-bardish

Weapon - small daggers often dipped in enough poison to knock a person out. She has in her posession a few drops of deadly poison in even trace amounts however it is very rare and hard to find so it's used extremely sparingly.

Magic - various small amounts of potions and powders stolen from magic users. Mostly
causes annoyances like sneezing powder, love potions, itching powder, and other powders that can cause hallucinagenic results
Ability to project herself as a full size image illusion. Nearly perfect unless somone touches her.

History- Born into an extremely large family Vea quickly got tired of being ignored, despite trying to get attention through performing, and ran away one night. Traveling all over by catching rides from unsuspecting larger beings she's survived stealing when needed and earning her supper through dance and song. She plays a tiny lyre strung with spiderwebs which plays an delicate tune that can lull an prospective enemy, calm and focus an ally, or just sooths the willing listener. The addition of her voice strenghtens her music's ability.

Exploring and collecting useful items over the years, she came upon Voltar. At first she saw him as competiton for her dinner but after following and observing him for a time (he was heading in the same direction she was) she decided to befriend him. Being extremely persistent she won him over and they have travelled together since.

**************************

Vea looks at the reminiscers and shakes her head. Nimbly jumping down from Voltar's shoulder she smiles at the audience and slips off her cloak, always eagar to perform. Her dress glistening in the candlelight as she twirls on one leg and goes down into a curtsy. Gracefully returning to her feet, her lyre seeming to appear from nowhere as she completes her well practiced introduction. Smiling sweetly at her audience again she waits patiently for a request.

Re: The Cleansing

All I'm so exited If you want to see the countries that people are coming from then check the map. The felician archer is from "Felicien", the Krun mercenary is from "Krun" etc.

Jacob, Älhjögg, Sajjuk, Deven

The man shakes his head at your negative responces and placs his moist, warm hand on Jacobs shoulder:

-You are a man with courage, you and me could go far you know!

He keeps his hand on Jacobs shoulder and reaches out with his other hand to pull Älhjögg closer.

-Krun, the great empire, you haven't heard of it? It's jsut to the south of here, used to be bloddy powerful you know, and still could be!

The man seems to be talking more to himself than to you.

He looks around.

-An army could march straight through it in no time you know, it wouldn't take long. What are you afraid of? What if they want more soldiers here, we are still going to make more money in Krun!

Voltar, Vea -Oh your sister isn't here? She is beautiful, she could really have added an extra edge to the party! Speaking of extra by the way, what is that tiny thing on your shoulder?

As he speaks, Vea jumps down.

-Wow, it can dance!

He looks rather amazed, not to mention drunk.

-Can it talk?

Sir Nordkust Not to worry, you are now hereby placed . I hope you don't mind that you won't be interacting with any of the other players for at least a couple of posts.

The cat is silent and still. Only the tip of the tail is moving as it lays in ambush for the chicken that is hopping around the yard. It is a fascinating scene, hunter and prey. Suddenly the cat jumps for the chicken but something happens, maybe it miscalculated the distance by an inch, or maybe the chicken reacted quicker than normal birds.
The cat lands on the back of the chicken but is quickly thrown off, and the chicken is on the run, cat on it's heels. It runs straight for the rooster and soon the tables are turned, rooster chasing after the cat.

The picture of hunter and the hunted, so easily interchanged.

Clyde feels the heat from the late summer sun, shining on his armour. It is uncomfortable, but a reminder that fall, hasn't yet won over summer.

You just arrived in this village, similar to so many others, except for the big wagons standing in front of the inn. It bears the mark of the revolutionary army, it is a prisonwagon, in the back you can see, through the wooden bars, four gloomy men, aparently captives. For a second you stand paralysed, one of them is your younger cousin, little more than a boy...

Fluffie, Hewitt, Flapjack I'm sorry, my time is limited, I will post your part later tonight, or maybe even tomorrow morning.

I am sorry

"I have not sene much of my siblings since before the war started, but my story ios hardly unique or unfamilair to most"
Watching as Vea makes her way out of where ever she was hiding this time, simply shrugging at thea rchers comments.
"A companion, though I would watch what you say, ones size is no measure for their ourage or foolishness"
Casting a glance down towards vea as he finishes, letting a silence hold for a few seconds. Breaking it with a note on his flute after pulling it out from some hidding place on himself, as it breaks into a fact tune. Knowing Vea's cravings for attention well enough to indulge them when it suited, swaying himself back and forth to its rythem.

Re: The Cleansing

Sir Clyde of Nordkust sat frozen in his saddle (assuming I have a horse, this is. Do I have a horse? Foot would be fine as well), staring at his captive cousin through the slit in his simple steel pot helmet. Being identified and arrested was currently not a risk; the helmet masked his face completely and his armour was fairly unremarkable - the steel would attract attention, and so would the steel broadsword and lance point, but most proffessional mercenaries had made a pretty penny during the war, and so the well-forged armour and weaponry could be explained away with relative ease. Clyde had removed anything that could identify him as a former noble a few days after he'd first been separated from the rest of the Nobles' Army, and he wore his hair longer with medium stubble grown to mask his face. Mercenaries were all over Hynsolge at the moment, most of them from now-disbanded units hired by the King and the commoners during the war. Both sides had hired a considerable number of mercenaries, and the Royal coffers would probably be all but emptied by the time the fighting in the last few pockets of resistance by the Nobles finally came to a halt. Back to the matter at hand; his cousin had been taken prisoner. Treatment of prisoners varied enormously through the Revolutionary Army, but for those of Noble lineage the odds were rather bleak. Once his cousin was identified as part of the House of Nordkust, which he would be, he could be thrown into prison for the rest of his life, or put to death - or worse. Then again, since he was so young, he might be granted clemency...Clyde dismissed the doubts from his mind; he couldn't take that chance. He got down from his mount - a trained warhorse which, sensing his master's anxiety, pawed the dry ground aggressively with an iron-shod hoof. Clyde patted it reassuringly on the mane before tying the harness to the branch of a tree in the yard where he'd been watching the cat and the chicken in the age old battle of predator and prey a moment before. A fine analogy of the Nobles and the commoners and the King by nature's own agents. Clyde liked to think of himself as a fair Lord - had liked to think of himself as a fair Lord, and he'd certainly got on well with the villagers of Nordkust, though there weren't a great number of them - only a couple of hundred all told. He'd encouraged the elders and the mayor and the master fishermen and the other leaders of the people to speak their mind to him of any complaints that they had, and beyond taxing them and taking a certain commission on trade, Clyde had left them largely to it - after all, fishermen knew more of fishing than did he. In return he had acted as a local magistrate, settling disputes and setting penance to criminals where necessary, and on a few occasions had even ridden out to deal with the few small groups of bandits that had made their way to the area. His father had taught him the responsibilities and proper duties of the truly noble Lord. Other Nobles, not so. Clyde had been to other manours and seen the injustice and corruption wrought by some of his peers. When the revolution had first broken out, Clyde had even considered backing the King. But then the politics of the feudal system were complicated. The current King was fair and just, but those following might not be. The Nobles, with their right to tax their people and raise arms for the nation in war, were a necessary vehicle to constrain the power of the monarchy. And, of course, the revolution had grown foul, and the Army had turned on fair Nobles - Nobles such as he - in their civil war-turned witch hunt. Clyde had thrown in his lot with the Nobles, and the war had, in the end, turned against them. And now he was a lone cat, beset by a thousand angry roosters.

Clyde walked past the barred rear door of the prison wagon, past the door of the inn and reached the horses at the front of the wagon. He turned, and looked around, seeking the horse driver or one of the guards. They could be in the inn, but then they had probably left at least one of their number out to watch the wagon and the prisoners - not that there was much chance of them escaping from the wagon.
