Why didn't the Brits do this ages ago, no one will find out.

Re: Captain Hook areested
am i the only one who really doesnt like it when he is referred to as 'captain hook'? they seem to be demonising him for having a disability (which i gather he receied when defusing a landmine while fighting the russians in afghanistan) attack the man for what he says and does, not becase he lost his hands

Re: Captain Hook areested
Yeah, the name calling is pretty poor. If a British "war hero" in Saudi Arabia was abused in the same fashion by the Saudi press I'm sure we'd have something to say about it.
Still, I'm sure he's a ****, but that's irrelevent in determining whether he should be arrested.

Re: Captain Hook areested
I don't really think he should be called Captain Hook for long. I see him in Finsbury Park every Friday for the last two years and he doesn't have a hook nor an eyepatch.
I think the media just needed a comic name for him to stick with for the rest of his life.

Re: Captain Hook areested
The BBC implied that amusingly unless what he's being extradited for by the Americans is applicable under UK anti-terrorism laws, he ain't going nowhere, though that seems a daft state of affairs to be possible.

I too support the restriction of freedom of speech. I mean freedom is great and all but we really need boundaries. Surely someone urging the infringement of others' rights is not deserving of protection under the law?

What's wrong with that? If what he's done is not illegal in Britain then we shouldn't be obliged to hand him over.
It's not like we're going to extradite someone to Cuba just because they've been spouting anti-Communist propaganda.
I'm not sure if it applies in the UK but some European countries won't even extradite someone if they face the possibility of the death penalty in the country they are being extradited to.

Re: Captain Hook areested
I'd misinformed myself of how extradition worked, which has since been rectified.
Wonder where he'd get the better treatment, Guantanamo or Yemen.

perhaps. it might be so that i don't care that much because i don't feel too much involved in the "war against terrorism" etc.
i simply can't believe terrorists would attack trainstations or big buildings here.
i know that's naive but on the other hand i think it's human nature aswell; to not really care for anything untill it gets close to you or your environment.
