Yet another "I am installing linux" thread

However, tihs time with a slight difference. I have a spare box here (p300, 64mb, network card), which has no hard disk. I was wondering:
a) if there was a cut down version of linux with no GUI I could boot from a floppy, and
b) how to to go about setting up some network space on my win2k box to share as a working directory via the network.

I only intend to use the machine for command line stuff, coding I would rather do in *nix than Windows. I'm not a linux newbie either, I have ran full distros on my main machine, and use several shell accounts.

try Knoppix, it will boot from CD and doesnt need a harddisk I think. Perhaps a RAMdisk for some config data, dunno.

what about not installing the gui? you don't need to install Xwindow.. and you don't need it either if it's going to be a server/gateway/router for your LAN..
